john1980
So this year im starting a poster fir the first time. My question is how do you store them between signings. Do you frame them then take them out as and when you get more autographs or keep them rolled up somewhere?
Wrong Name
The posters I know I'm going to add to, I keep in kind of cheap frames so I can easily take them out for another signing. The ones I consider complete I have professionally framed with conservation glass to keep the as safe as possible and are sealed in.
john1980
Cool I know I asked on the other forum as well but thought more advice the merrier. Im assuming you use poster tubes to transport them Edited June 23, 2016 by john1980
Moderators StuartG2198 Posted June 23, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 23, 2016 Like Wrong Name I buy a cheap maxi frame and then have a carry case when I take them out to a show
Wrong Name
For the posters, yeah I use poster tubes. I have a few different sizes depending on what poster i have with me (If you see the other thread, the Ghostbusters one is MASSIVE so needs a huge tube!). Fo things like 8x10 or anything A4 or smaller I have a plastic box-like-thing that you can pick up at a few of the stalls and the con.
Raylenth
8x10's - solid plastic case at the shows then in acid free pages at home A3 stuff - flat in a really thick cardboard folder for the shows, in the same folder at home but seperated with tissue paper at home Large flat items I sometimes carry in this http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/clear-a1-carry-case/562548-1000 but it's really big to carry Typically I left posters in the poster tubes until I decided they were complete at which point I intended to have them framed. Whilst they are a lot easier to store and transport in the tubes if you are getting a lot of people to sign it, it can lead to wear and softening on the edges a bit no matter how careful you are. My newly started posters I haven't decided what to do with them but I may see if I can buy a large art file, keep them flat in there and only put them in the tubes for being signed. The ones I have had professionally framed I did ask about UV protective glass but it would have been massively expensive on my very large poster so i didn't go for it in the end. Just checking but what do you mean 'sealed in'? if you don't mind me asking. As part of the framing service they tape the back up but did you mean something different? They told me that they try to get it air tight to protect the picture as much as possible so I don't know if they put anything else in there, but yes, basically they just tape it up! reedierules89
Poster tunes with bubble rap on the ends tbh if the edges of the poster get slightly crumpled a good frame with cover that up just come in 5mm to hide it,
charlesberg
posters are a nightmare, especially the quad movie posters cause they aren't designed to last, I strongly recommend you buy a proper carry tube, they telescope for different sizes, waterproof and most importantly have a carry strap so you can keep your hands free
Raylenth
I've got to have a couple of the ones I've had properly framed unframed soon as I may want to take them to the next Sherlocked to be added to. Annoying but I really wanted them properly framed after the last event as I do have the tendency to not frame them as there's always someone else you can add to them, and i really wanted them on the wall. The frames said he can take them out for me so hopefully it should be ok.
