The Party ?!

Recommended Posts

I had a good laugh, made my own entertainment.

Being a V.I.P. was the worst thing ever:

missed all the entertainment,

Bar closed at 11pm,

No goody bags,

Stood next to the weasley twins and Crabbe for an hour, never spoke to them once, lol.

No BILLY,

Not enough seats,

Drinks too expensive, which they ran out of anyway.

And WHY were people asking for guest's photo's and auto's and getting them????

Still managed to have a laugh, won't do it again, not worth £15.

i think the price was fine though if it happens again, it shouldnt be anymore, just more improved in quality.

i admit your right about the VIP thing, my legs hurt after an hour from standing, im glad u could go outside, because it was so cramped in there when it got really full, and was being surrounded by cigar smoke  i didnt speak to the HP people either lol despite being by them a lot, i was trying to find the courage and soemthing to say but my mind went blank so didnt

We asked about goody bags too, the guy said it was something that was never confirmed! - so why advertise it in the first place then?!

What? You mean they didn't have a contract with the goody bags?

Well, I would have liked to have gone, but I didn't have the money. Not too surprised at what people are saying. It was the first time SM's has done a party and it seems they found a few of the pitfalls! Hopefully they'll improve it next time.

My experience with guests at a party... either you do it with limited attendees (maybe 200), and have the guests 'on duty'. Guests get escorted from group to group and takes a few minutes with each. Noboddy gets long, but everybody at least gets to say a few words.

Or, you have the guests 'off-duty' like at this one. Then some decide they don't fancy coming on the night (jet lag is a killer, so have some sympathy...). Some turn up but find the crowds just too scary! The ones that remain either end up with everyone queuing to get a photo with them and no-one really gets to talk to them, or they get into real conversations, which means they spend ages talking to just a few people all night and most people don't get to say a word to them.

I've had some great conversations with guests at the second type of party, but it's the luck of the draw.

with the god ticket for C7..... apparently it was given to the 300th person to enter the party....... thats what we were told at the info stand today.... tho it took them 30 minutes to find that out coz nobody seemed to know about it..... the event itself was great but organisation of the side events really need some sorting out... competition at the buffy talk and "exclusive" print wouldnt even have happened had someone in the audience not asked about it ..... none of the showmaster staff there knew anything about it.........they REALLY need to sort there organistaion out.

Oh, and what a way to kick us out of the party..... turning all the lights on like over half an hour before the music even finished.

i asked a number of crew at the party about the god pass, nobody knew anything about it, said to ask someone in the function rooms (bit difficult as it was dark and with loud music)

asked at the info booth on sunday, nobody knew anything about it and didn't seem interested in finding out about it for me.

Would not waste £15.00 again on that.

i think maybe more vips would have mingled if the room was brighter as their security members couldnt really see what was going on and so couldnt assess anything! also if people had cameras taken off them and strict instrucitons not to approach them for autographs etc or they will be asked to leave, it might have made it easier! i knwo most poepl brougth cameras to take pics of each other and not the vips, but i saw one person getting a pic with nicholas brendon which i thought was maybe slightly wrong as he was there to enjoy himself!! maybe if the vip room hadnt been downstairs too it might have helped, like maybe section roped off with security members there to stop non vips from going in. has there ever been an event where they mingled?

Leave Daniel Logan alone, or i`ll ooteedee your ar*e.

He`s a lovely young man, and a kiwi......., and when me and the wife chatted to him, he was nothing like previuosly posted.

But what the hell is he doing in MK if he wasn`t at the collectomania event--do he live here or sumfink?

He just likes attending the events, and seeing his mates.

its a long way to come from nz though surely?

Party was utter crap. Common Rotation was the best thing. The crowded bar was horrendous, the celebs - where were they (apart from the Harry Potter KIDS(!!!!) trying to get off with anything that moved), Goody bags ?????????, there was no buffet, there was no c7 guest announcement, it did not go on until late (12:30!!!), Common Rotation weren't at the door at kicking out time. This was definately not worth £15 for the ticket, £45 for the room at Travel Inn, £12 for taxis and £15 for drinks. In total £87 spent on one lousy night out. The only thing that made it slightly better was the hot chick in pink bondage gear.

Ummm... I've seen MUCH worse bars!!! My issue was with them running out of alcohol, that seemed like quite a fatal flaw in their plan!

well i don't think i will be paying to go to another party. I only had fun because i was with jacs, stick and rickman, but then we would have had fun any where. I could not help thinking how much more fun i had had the previous night which was totally free, i just danced and chatted to my friends.

regarding 'meeting forum members' we do this all the time - various forum meets and such and therefore I am not happy about paying £30 to see people i would have spent time with any way.

How on earth would they know who 300th person to enter the party was? There was 2 entrances and i did not see anyone counting people!

I don't really agree with what people are saying about being the 'first party' its not like the showmasters team does not have experience organising big events and if they were un-sure and they could not deliver what was promised then they should have just said 'we are having a party at which common rotation will play and maybe stars will attend'

goody bags, god tickets, raffles should not have been promised.

No one told us in VIP area about when the costume competition was being judged - i would have liked to have seen that - no-one told us when common rotation started playing.

It just needs more communication.

Like today - jacs and i spent ages waiting for our number to come up to see matt lewis and when we went to him, we were told that we could not meet him unless we are buying an autograph. So jacs spent her money on an auto. But the point is, that this has never happened at another event. The last two collectormania's we were just generally chatting to each person and stuff. It has always seemed to be if we had a ticket or queue was open then we can talk to them,

Its fine if rules/regulations change and i completely respect that - but ALL THAT HAD TO BE DONE WAS TELL US WHEN VIRTUAL QUEUE TICKETS WERE GIVEN OUT. That way if we could not have afforded a signature then we would have not had to wait 2 hours before discovering this....................

I really want the guest annoucements that were supposed to be made at the party - i was dead excited about that.................................

I just think that there was alot more money related issues this time - over charging for a party, not even getting to say hello to stars unless buying auto, we know that it can;t have been matt that requested this - they HP people are fine chatting............................

Whereas I love showmasters events and think on the whole showmasters do a fabulous job (as I have said many times before), I just think alot of things changed at this event and not for the better either.

Oh just one more thing - I'm really worried about queuing - because the carrie fisher queue (not a ncie lady) I got there at 7.55am, and was waiting in a queue then i realised i could get into the centre through another door, so i went round and went thru macdonalds. This meant I skipped a huge queue - at around the same time, the main gate 14 doors were opened and the less obvious doors behind the carrie fisher area were opened, so people at the back of the queue were just going straight to the front of the queue.

Whilst i'm aware that it is a shopping centre, when someone like carrie is there there needs to be alot more regulations - if elijah was to come again, i would quite happily camp outside if i felt it was necessary - however there is no set door - there should be and there should be more securiy guards - makin sure that you can't get into the stars queue unless you have previously queued at a certain point. :D;)

Yeah,

On my third visit to the bar, after queueing for half an hour, I asked for "Two bottles of bud please", only to be told "We've ran out of Bud it's only Stella". This was only around 10:30ish. I was left at a crap party with a crap drink!!

Thanks,

I thought maybe something could've been done to integrate people some more. Maybe games or things. I'm naturally a shy person and I went to the party on my own (First time, by the way!) and I spent most of the night eyeing up hot chicks and sitting on my own in the corner getting pi**ed.
