  1. Just seen Jon McBride (STS-41-G) is in the country at the moment.
  2. Good to see a new show being announced. Unfortunately I'm away that weekend so won't be attending but I hope everyone has a great time. Because I can't go I'm fully expecting to see Frank Bruno being named as a guest as my quest through space & time to meet him continues.
  3. Last time I looked it's bus routes 105, 140, 111, 285 or 555. Heathrow Free Travel Zone map http://www.heathrowa...nd_Heathrow.pdf
  4. P.S. Carl Weathers is quoted as £15. Wouldn't want you buy the wrong amount of vouchers if you are paying by card.
  5. You can pay cash to the crew member at the guests table or if you're planning on paying by card you do that at the Information Desk and they will give you a voucher for the amount you want to spend.
  6. I think I was lucky last time as I got to have a little chat with Buzz after a delay because of the credit card payment system. My two big tips would be; 1/ If possible pay by cash. Less chance of having a 'technical problem' & less interaction with the handlers (Buzz's own not the fantastic crew). 2/ Get in there early. Like everyone else guests are fresher at the start of the day. Last year I found Buzz on great form at both the signing table & the photo shoot. £350 is a lot but the experience is priceless.
  7. It will be a last minute decision if I go but I'll be coming from Liverpool.
  8. I know a lot of people don't like sports guests at Autographica but with the Winter Olympics the month before it might be an idea to get some Winter Olympic GB medal winners in (there aren't that many!). My suggestions would be- Tony Nash & Robin Dixon (probably no chance) Jeannette Altwegg (probably less chance then Nash & Dixon) Robin Cousins Torvill & Dean, obviously Amy Williams
  9. Haggling tip 25; Ask dealer if they 'Price Match'.
  10. I can imagine a lot of people staying late on Sunday with their 'best offers'. I might even be staying late myself
  11. Tube to Heathrow then make your way to the Heathrow Bus Station & get one of the free buses to the Radisson Hotel. You're looking for bus routes 105, 140, 111, 285 or 555. Heathrow Free Travel Zone map http://www.heathrowa...nd_Heathrow.pdf
  12. A little surprised no one has mentioned The Amazing Spider-Man #95. Also thinking of getting a copy of the DC Just Imagin Batman he wrote.
  13. Typical, I hung back meeting him when he was over thinking I'd catch him next time. Moral of the story, if the opportunity presents its self take it as you may never get the chance again. Not to sound political but ####### do-gooders!!!
  14. Bit of a daft question, & sorry if this has already been asked & answered somewhere else, but is there anything Stan won't be signing? I'm thinking of getting a canvas with some Marvel characters on it but I don't think it's an official Marvel production.
  15. After the success of Sir Stirling Moss, a few years ago, how about John Surtees? I know he is doing motor sport based events where autographs are singed so he might be interested in Autographica.
  16. That's not a bad idea, it would also give people attending the show an idea which images would be available, but alternatively have you thought of buying the image you want & sending it in to be signed? I think they offer a send in service.

  18. Couldn't make Saturday & had a very brief visit today so didn't get to explore as much of the new venue as I had planned. First small moan, the free bus timetable didn't seem to be working. The 11:45 from the station never arrived so I ended up getting a taxi. There were around 20 people waiting for the bus & I didn't see any of them at Collectormania. Jonah Lomu was the only guest I wanted to meet & he was great. Although he only had 2 hours & a lot of interest he didn't seemed too rushed & spoke with everyone. I hope everyone who wanted to meet him got the chance & I hope he enjoyed himself enough to come back again in the future. Another moan, a bit of signage to the bus stop being used for the free bus at the stadium wouldn't have gone a miss. Quite a few people were not sure if they where in the right place and with the bus timetable seemingly not being kept to a few of us jumped a local bus service. No big problem although now I feel intimately acquainted with the famous Milton Keynes roundabouts! It was nice to be indoors at this time of year but I agree Mercury, I miss not being in the stadium. Walking around the concourse had a nice & unique feel to it. Personally I found today a little squashed in the hall although admittedly I didn't have a good look round so didn't see what else was on offer at the show. Collectormania looks to be growing from strength to strength. SM seem to have big & exciting plans for the future of this event. Thank you SM for more great memories, roll on next year.
  19. Would depend what type of paper is used in your book and what type of ink you're thinking of using. If the book has porous type paper you'd be best having them sign using a ballpoint pen. If the paper is more like photographic type paper then you should have them sign using a Sharpie type pen. Make sure the ink is dry before closing the book and you should be fine. As for reading the book, again the autographs should be fine as long as look after it.
  20. Great guest announcement, a real gent in the sports world. But he has been advertised as 'World Champion Boxer'. Unfortunately Earnie never won a world title although he did have two world title bouts (WBA & WBC vs Ali & WBC vs Holmes). This is just for clarity, Earnie is a great announcement & one of the greatest names in boxing.
  21. Probably a none starter but if you could get Alan Alda over you'd make my girlfriend very happy. Think he would be a perfect guest for Autographica.
  22. The first price is for autographs on photos or books. The higher price is for autographs on sports equipment such as boxing gloves, shorts, robes, shoes, etc... It has become standard practice for sports guest to charge more for signing sports equipment.
  23. Very sad news. As these guys get older it feels like the history they made is slipping further away.
  24. In a word no, getting in shouldn't be a problem. But depending on how many photo ops you are after you may find some of them clash. There are normally at least two photo areas each with it's own timetable. If there is a clash have a word with the crew running the area and they normally do their best to get you through quickly so you can get to your next shoot.
  25. I thought Saturday morning was busier then normal, though that might have been because we looked to be in a smaller room, or was I imagining that? It did seem to slow down after 1pm. All the Apollo guests were great to meet & looked busy throughout the day. But Gene Cernan was the highlight for me. His lecture was interesting & funny, we sheared a joke during the photo shoot & he seemed to take a genuine interest in the photo I ask him to autograph for me. A true gentleman. I excepted meeting Evander Holyfield to be short & sweet, but wasn't expecting the little disco he had going on. Got to say a big well done to the crew at the Holyfield signing. Think we all knew Holyfield would be 'unique' but the crew looked to stay on top of things, keeping everyone informed about what we could do & the much longer list about what we couldn't do. All in all another great day at Autographica. This has to be one of the friendliest shows going & I really enjoyed chatting in the queues with some very interesting people. Gutted I can't make today but I'm already looking forward to the next one.
