1. It is highly unlikely bobby charlton will do any type of covention. Not one for meeting fans was at a dinner last september for the manchester united team that won the european cup in 68 and out of the 10 that attened he was the only one that didnt spend long posing for photos siging autographs a very dour person 941575 Bobby Charlton is going to be a real toughie. A bit like the supposes spat between Kenny Baker/Anthony Daniels, the Charltons will not sign something the other has signed. Sounds petty for sure, but that is the way thing seem. Bobby Charlton thus far is a very private, reserved man. Jackie is an arrogant and self-aggrandising man (in my experience) but can be humourous...same with Geoff Hurst. But don't hold out on Bobby...
2. Elijah seems a great lad. A friend of mine managed to chat to him about his love of UK bands such as The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays...he knows his music! Big fan of The Ramones and The Pixies too! He even thought "The Darkness rock"! Well that was in 2004 and the second album hadn't come out of course! Unless he has undergone a metamorphosis into an arrogant waste of space (like many actors of much less calibre than he!), he will be good fun. Just don't drool on him - even though it may be hard not to!
3. *pick self up off floor* My goodness! Jenny Agutter and now Helen????? *feels faint* *THUD*
4. And she was in "The Eagle Has Landed" - threatens Donald Sutherland with a shotgun in that! How cute was she in that movie...gun and all?! And lovely in "American Werewolf..." too! In fact judging by her appearance in "Spooks", she is still lovely! Shame I didn't have an "Eagle Has Landed" poster when I met Jean Marsh...humph! Hope SMs have EHL pic of Jenny as they did of Jean!
5. Does nobody else here like The Comic Strip Presents...? What a cool guest! He was superbly sinister in WED, but in Comic Strip's "South Atlantic Raiders" as Gen Galtieri - priceless! And he was the poncy restaurant manager in "Eat The Rich" too! Great guest and would love to hear about his experiences with Edmondson, Planer, Richardson, French, Saunders...and Robbie Coltrane as Ken Livingstone!
6. I met Millvina at a previous Autographica and she is a wonderful lady. So patient and friendly, despite no doubt being asked the same stuff a million times. A fascinating guest, and a person with a proper place in history. Not often you get to meet one of them!
7. What an amazing career this guy has had! I hope he will be doing a talk - it will be fascinating! I am curious as to the "stunts" in Doc Martin tho - planning people's paths to avoid Martin Clune's huge ears? Stop him from taking off if he ran too fast? Just kidding - Martin Clunes is great! Obviously Bond and Star Wars nutters will be well pleased too, but what a CV... *goes to look again in awe*
8. Hi Mark Cool collection! I saw you recently got a piece signed by the elusive Bronagh Gallagher. Was this through the post or did you meet her? The reason I am asking is because I am lucky enough to have the pilot seats from the Radiant VII used in TPM in my collection. I managed to get hold of a signed 8x10 of Silas as the co-pilot from Jason's pals at Autographica, but I have had no luck getting old of one of Bronagh as the Captain... I think she does more theatre work than TV or movies, and I believe she has never done a public or private signing... Any advice about getting a signature from her would be much appreciated! Cheers, Nick
9. Are you Irish or over there at the moment? I'm in Dublin. 938408 I'm not Irish but I live with someone who is! And I do have some Irish ancestry, but then who in these isles doesn't? Everyone's wants to be a Paddy on Paddys' Day!
10. Class! One of their best covers - that, Last Caress and So What! You going to Download? I am currently listening to Sweden's finest...In Flames...."Cloud Connected"
11. Hmmm...might still be able to read at that time on Paddys' Day...*HIC*
12. As with two of the others we have lost this last few months, Phil is one of the "old skool" Star Wars actors I was never lucky enough to meet. When I saw rare interviews with him, he seemed a very dignified and humourous man. He also had a remarkable and long career. RIP Phil
13. Tasteless twit ! 925519 Well said, Dufresne. This knucklescraping numbskull didn't get the classic Monty Python reference earlier and then responds with this puerile attempt at "humour" - anybody who has seen his past posts over the years knows what to expect. Anyway...rest in peace, Phil.
14. Hmmm...well hopefully not before G-Mex! All the best, N
15. Just like you!!! Love n' hugs Nick
16. Maybe Lee was already dreading the journey to Cheshunt and that's why he started this thread!
17. I agree totally. I know Showmasters have used this venue for many years, but frankly the place is an absolute dump. That drive off the motorway past rundown and boarded up disused shops is depressing. Add to that the chav zone that the actual leisure centre is in and it is just rotten. In November, poor Ken Colley must have nearly had a couple of seizures when the little sods were throwing slabs of paving stone at and kicking the fire door - right by where he was sitting at! Obviously cost is a factor, but maybe there is a leisure centre in Milton Keynes that would accommodate Empire Day? Still near airport/s and has reasonably good transport links. I never thought I'd actually suggest going to Milton Keynes for anything - but there is a first time for everything! In any case, I reckon bigger, better Empire Days will be held away from Cheshunt - watch what happens. Who put the C--T in Cheshunt!?
18. Lee - did you get the e-mail ok? I sent it on Sunday night.
19. Peter Burroughs is appearing at a show in the south-west of England with Warwick a couple of weeks after Empire Day, so it seems he is around...
20. Colin Hunt? Wasn't he in The Fast Show? "I'm a alien! I'm a alien!"
21. Choose your words carefully! You may upset these old guys referring to their "small parts" like that, let alone being "odd"... Maybe I have a one-track mind, but that expression made me choke on my coffee laughing!
22. I thought this section needed waking up! Has anyone else seen Rusty Goffe in "Stupid" on BBC1? It is a truly odd kids' show on BBC1 where he plays King Stupid's sidekick, Goober! He is kind of a purple gremlin in a jester outfit! Like all good kids' TV, it looks like it was written by someone on mind-altering substances!
23. Glad you had a good time - I think I saw you at Tavastia on the last night. You didn't bring back the Finn flu then? I had to admit myself to a clinic it was so bad! The same one as where Ville goes when he smokes too much and has an asthma attack! It is actually Linde who is to blame for the tour fiasco - he slipped on the way home from Tavastia. His arm will be strapped until the end of January, but he should be ready for the German tour. All UK dates are now end of April - and original tickets are valid. Before I got ill, I saw all the guys on New Year's Eve. Seppo was in good form, and everyone seemed very relaxed. A lot different from last year! I also had a good chat with Johnny Lee Michaels - the producer behind 69 Eyes. He is a fascinating guy and we reminisced about the good old days of rock n roll!He works with Hanoi Rocks too, which is even more cool! The gigs were all good but I think Negative edge it - though some of their lyrics are awful! All in all, a good trip. Roll on next year! *ACHOOOO!!!!*
24. I am surprised nobody suggested this already, but try calling the Showmasters office (number on their main website) and ask Jason about this. Outside of Lucasfilm, he is probably the greatest authority there is on authentic Star Wars props and Collectables. He may ask for a fee for an official valuation, but it is well worth asking him. You have some really nice stuff by the sound of it, and it needs looking after!
