    Guess...

ok then my try I predict that Joss Whedon will be announced on the 29th september
  7. Any chance we can get some information about the auction items? Jason did write "soon" back in May
  8. I'm not annoyed in spite of having spent most of my evening here You can't have it both ways really. Either you get zero information about potential guests and then we all moan pretty much every day because of the lack of information. At least like this we all get to be excited for a day or so. I mean, check out the tumbleweed over at Hallowhedon hint hint. I think I'm right in saying that most of us attendees would relish an announcement like this ... even if the actual announcement never actually came
  9. Hi Aivy88! Same for me - first time to a convention and I bought a gold ticket too. I felt the same - might as well do it properly first time out I'm also staying at the Thistle and am flying in from abroad! Let's hope we made a good decision
  10. I like the idea too, but I'm not a UK resident. Thanks for the offer and have a great day!
  11. I was just home for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find a handwritten letter from the UK If my remember correctly - G141 I knew I left it late getting a gold but I would have guessed my number to have been about 30 lower. They must have sold like hotcakes at the end! (whatever that means )
  12. I agree with this lot. Smallville guests would be great!
  13. I'm also coming from Sweden and I'm all excited. My ticket, hotel and flights already booked. I'm not worried about the event being cancelled seeing as golds and silvers sold out a while back. In several threads the lack of new guests has been discussed and every time ME have responded by saying that they are trying hard to get some really special guest(s) and this process takes time. Should they however fail in signing them by a certain date, it would appear there are a number of other guest options who would be easier to sign in reserve. Hope I'm not misquoting anyone here, but after hours on this forum this is my opinion of where we are at
  14. I expect to get flamed for commenting in this thread but I thought you guys could use some perspective. I live in Sweden and every year there is a Sci-Fi convention in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. There are a few minor guests, a few traders and actually frankly not enough interest from the general public. Its such a shame and I like to think that with bigger names it would grow into something special. In all honesty I know it wont. In and around Stockholm there are probably about 3 million people (less around the other locations) and there are not enough interested people. The fact that you have a successful and interesting Collectormania in Glasgow is great. You should be proud and promote it instead of knocking it. Work to keep it and be happy if it grows. The Copenhagen announcement is brave and I'll be supporting it.
  15. My name is Numfar and I'm a convention virgin I have not met any of the actors or actresses from the Whedonverse. I basically avoided television shows for a number of years first only recently rediscovering how much I enjoy a decent series. I've been watching episodes back-to-back during the evenings in my home cinema (ok then storage room). During the past year or so I've watched all of Buffy, Angel and Firefly/Serenity and the first half of Dollhouse. Strangely enough Serenity was my first introduction to Joss Whedon. I bought the film because I had gotten hold of a hd-dvd player cheap and some Australian site had a fire sale. I liked the film's cover so I chose it on that basis. I enjoyed the film big time classing it then as a humourous Star-Wars tribute, and I was intrigued enough to buy Firefly in spite of already knowing it was cancelled after only half a season. Having watched it I couldn't for the life of me understand why the show was canned. It seems peculiar that Fox would first take a chance of such a unusual project, watch it develop into a true gem, only to then cancel That led me to Buffy.... I discovered that I had already aquired season 1 and 2 at some earlier date but they were still shrinkwrapped I was actually not too impressed early on. I read a few comments online saying that I should stick with it and see season 1 out, so I did. Obviously I don't regret that decision. I'd have to say that I enjoyed Buffy the most from the middle of season 2 and onwards. Season 3 is perfect television! The story arcs and character development of everything here on out is amazing. Even if Season 7 gave us an ending I could have easily watched more. Angel started slowly. I tried following a guide I found as to which order I should interweave Buffy and Angel, but gave up quite quickly prefering to just watch Buffy. When I got back to Angel I found myself mostly hoping for Buffy crossovers, and seeing as there weren't that many I was slightly disappointed at first. As with most things Whedon the show got stronger as time went by, and I think season 5 was easily the best (probably due to Spikes introduction). I find it hard to accept that Angel was put to rest there with a lot of story left in it but there we go. Which brings me back to this thread. Seeing as I haven't met anyone I'm kinda unbiased ......... I'd love first and foremost to meet guests from Buffy. In fact I'd be very happy with just Buffy guests. We have James and Nick already. I'd love Showmasters to add Anthony Head or Seth Green and some of the female actresses from the show. Preferably SMG, Alyson Hannigan, Eliza Dushku, Juliet Landau or Felicia Day, but I can't imagine I'd be disappointed with anyone come to think of it. Then I'd have to say guests from any of the other shows. Amy Acker would make me happiest, but David Boreanaz, Mercedes McNab, Julie Benz or Alexis Denisof from Angel would be great. Preferably Nathan Fillion, Alex Baldwin or Summer Glau from Firefly/Serenity and from Dollhouse I'd choose Eliza Dushku or Tahmoh Penikett. [/rant off]
  16. Wow you guys have been busy .... The cries around you, you don't hear at all.
  17. We should all just look on the bright side. The probability of a new guest being announced increases every day
  18. When you gotta sing, when you gotta let it out.
  19. I'm interested in meeting up with you all too so add my name to your list too please.
  20. I'm all booked up for 3 nights. I've read some hotel reviews and apparently the Thistle doesn't quite get the rave reviews I was hoping for Not to worry, I'm sure we'll have a great time!
  21. Hi everyone! I'd also really appreciate it if we could get some kind of idea of what we can expect. With the amount of tickets sold right now taken into consideration roughly how many new guests are likely? Once gold and silver sold out I got the impression that we would see more announcements, but now I'm starting to get a tiny bit nervous too. If I understand things correctly the Abhrams convention got cancelled because more people didn't dare to commit. I've bought a gold ticket to Hallowhedon plus paid for non-refundable flight tickets so I've done what I can. I expect it is like you all are saying - that its difficult to get the guests to commit this early on, but seeing as I haven't been to a con before I'm not sure how this all normally unfolds. If that is the case and Showmasters are holding out for SMG then I'm going to shut up right now I am also convinced a new guest or an indication of what we can expect will help to sell out the remaining tickets.
  22. I thought that season 1 was a bit hit and miss. By the time I got to season 2 I was hooked though
