Hi Jenny - At the Thistle you don't need to pay a deposit and you can cancel up to 24 hours before you arrive. You tend to pay when you leave the hotel on the Sunday or Monday, rather than when you arrive. Don't know if that makes a difference

I really wanted to go to the Love Hearts thing on Sunday but it's sooo expensive Went to one of the evening gigs last year and it was fab

The food at the White Horse that Sazzy mentioned really is good - and they give you massive platefuls!! Also if you stay at the Thistle they do nice big breakfasts (with pastries! Yum!) so you can fill up then.

Hi Orangepeel - don't worry you won't be the only one with standard! I had standard last year and it was fine - though admittedly I ended up paying for all but one of the photographs and it cost me so much I may as well have gone for silver, so I've booked silver this time! But if you're only planning on a couple of photos then standard probably is the best value for money.

Yeah, it's a bit worrying that by the time SM get more guests, a lot of people who can only afford one of the cons will have already booked to go to one of the ones with loads of guests! I'm sure SM will end up with great people, but just hope they do so a bit quicker than last year!

I was thinking much the same thing CharlieAome! I think it's still possible to get those guests but very unlikely. Which is a shame cos I love Christian. On the other hand most of them aren't 'major' guests. It is really frustrating though that other companies seem to be a bit more proactive about getting guests! oh and I'd take down the name of the convention from your post as otherwise it'll get removed (In fact both of these posts might get deleted anyway!) x
