  1. Don't post often but felt I had to after the event. So doing it now after having some time to collect my thoughts and properly look back at the weekend as a whole. First time going gold with my Mum and one of my brothers. Did meet a lot of great guests - can't fault any of them at all - and enjoyed the talks we went to. Made the decision before the event not to go for any Diamond guests (this proved to be a good decision with hindsight). Friday 1 - YALC getting 'special' treatment. They were mixed in with the Gold queue (confusing for us) then they got processed while in the queue and then let in before Gold. This was an issue all three days but it was the first thing we spotted on Friday. While I understand the Gold had to be separated (physical tickets in one door and e-tickets in another) for processing, I don't get why YALC were processed before opening. 2 - Layout. Bit confusing to begin with. Took a while to find everything. Bit cramped in places but I understand space was limited. 3 - Gold Pass room and bag pickup. Took a while to find where the room was and also that we had to go to the room to pick up our included bag & vouchers. As we were going to use some of the vouchers on Friday guests this was important to do quickly. Once we found the room, it was all okay, but in the confusion, I ended up getting separated from my Mum - who had the pass order with her as they were in her name - and it took a while to find her again. At the room, pickup was easy so that was good. 4 - Little bit of an issues with photo areas being moved and some crew not really being sure what was going on. The crew member I dealt with did know what was going on when Reeve Carney's shoot was moved but the crew member my brother spoke to in relation to RDA wasn't as well informed. Saturday 1 - Too. Many. People. This was a serious problem. Made it almost impossible to move in the signing and photo areas without bumping into just about everyone. Photo areas in particular were very congested. 2 - Level 3. While I did enjoy having lots of open space (and be able to feel the air conditioning), it felt very disconnected from the rest of the event, access was limited and there were no clear signs to direct people around the floor. 3 - Crew. While some were helpful and polite....so were not. As time went on, the number of people crowding in started to trigger a panic attack in my mother. While this doesn't happen very often, my brother and I knew the best way was to get her out of the building as quickly as possible. So we headed for the stairs where we came in (by photo E) to head for the Gold entrance/exit. As we got to the stairs, while happy to see they were clear going down, we were shouted at by a SM crew member that we were NOT allowed to go down the stairs at all with no reason given as to why. So we stepped away from the crowd coming through the door as we tried to figure out the best way through. As we tried to do this, the same crew member - who was still watching us - shouted at us again for "blocking the stairs". so we were then left with no alternative but to try and get our visibly distressed (and somewhat agitated) mother through the crowds across two of the busiest floors to get to an exit. This was utterly unacceptable no matter what way you look at it. Sunday 1 - Information. It was very difficult to get some important information. When picking up a CL VQT for my friend, I was told to join a long line for the VQT only to be told at the front that he was only signing for a short period of time. Also trying to find out about Robert Englund - also for my friend - was very difficult and it was only when I went upstairs to L3 to get an Iain Glen VQT that I was able to get information about what was happening. I then had to try and get down to L1 as quickly as possible to tell my friend before his photoshoot began. Even first thing it was crowded and took a long time - though now having clearly marked stairs helped. 2 - Crowd levels. While an improvement on Saturday, it still felt very overcrowded in places. This was most apparent during the 'special' shoots (BTTF cast with props/cars, costume and make up shoots) as people were arriving to photo areas far too early and not leaving. Photo A was impassible during the afternoon. Also some shoots were 'rushed' as other guests were waiting. This happened during the first session for Harry Treadaway as Lea Thompson arrived before Harry as she was able to get through the crowds quicker. So his shoot was rushed so she wasn't kept waiting too long. 3 - Diamonds being called for non diamond guests at photoshoots. This happened more than once but it caused the most confusion at Hayley Atwell's first session. This was the only mistake they made with their information regarding this shoot but it did cause problems as there were people behind me with Diamond passes trying to get through. Going forward, I'd suggest that SM try and stabilise things at Olympia rather than always looking to increase/expand. With that in mind, I'd like to make some slight suggestions: 1 - Have the preview afternoon by for ticket pickup and vendors only. No signing/photo ops. This would mean that people can be processed without being rushed and also gives people a chance to have a proper look around the vendors (something that I wasn't able to do this year). Also maybe have an hour set aside before doors open each day to process tickets that weren't done at the previews. 2 - Pass visibility. If this show is trying to emulate SDCC then why not have the colour coded/labelled laynard passes? These are clearly visible to everyone, can be issued prior through the post (or at my proposed altered preview). They can also be extra advertising space for a sponsor as everyone will be issued one? 3 - Clear sections. Have each type of thing all together. Say vendors on the ground floor, all photo ops on the balcony above, signing in the L1 hall etc. Having everything all sectioned off and properly organised will help so much. This year just felt a little mish mash with some cohesion in parts but not in others. This year did have it's good moments for me but there was more bad. Not sure if we'll be making the trip again in future if this is going to be the norm. Hopefully the issues can be resolved to the benefit of the attendees and guests. Maybe once the event has stabilised in a permanent location and we're not seeing post after post of people having a lot of the same issues as us then maybe we'll reconsider our decision.
  2. Sorry if this has already been asked but couldn't find anything in the FAQ's. My brother, Mum and I have Gold Passes which ordered through the old store. The passes are booked in my Mum's name but she doesn't have photo ID. Is there anything that she can bring with us - besides the order confirmation - that would be accepted. If it helps, my brother and I both have photo ID. Sorry again if this has been asked
  3. Forgive me if this is a daft question, but I'm wondering if talk tickets are included in the Gold Pass package? Or it is a case of something like the group Q&A is included and the solo Q&A isn't? Just after some clarification here.
  4. So there is no way I can switch one of my Saturday tickets for Sunday? If I could then I'd have no clashes
  5. That's me! Well the back of my head anyway Would it be okay if I saved a copy of this for myself??
  6. I was just wondering is there anyway at all I could order autographs through SM and have them sent to me? I only ask because there's no way I can get to this event at all now Or would I be better off asking someone who can go to try and get them for me?
  7. My photos are all here - http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...74859.595931825 If you see yourself in any of them then feel free to tag them
  8. There should be. I think the only one that's sold out is the shoot with Karen Gillan.
  9. http://www.facebook.com/absinthefairy88 http://twitter.com/#!/absinthefairy88 First time at LFCC and I'm so excited!!! All are welcome to follow/friend me. Just let me know you are from the forums first so I don't get confused
  10. If possible can people please have a quick scan through this thread to check that things haven't already been asked and answered. Thanks We'll be calling approx 1-400 in the morning. But if you wish to wait for the afternoon one having been called for the morning that is fine. Just like VTs, you can enter anytime after you've been called. Sorry.
  11. Quick question: I have a ticket for Karen's photoshoot that's in the 200's. So it's likely that I would be in her first session rather than the second. Which is happening at the same time as Mark Sheppard's Q&A - which I really don't want to miss. Would I be able to just wait until the second session so I don't miss the Q&A or do I have to go in the first session?
  12. That was pretty much my thought process as well. It's a shame he won't be there but these things happen
  13. I have a question about this as well. I'm going to be getting a couple of autographs for a friend of mine who can't attend LFCC and thought it would be a nice little touch if I was able to give her a photograph of the guest as they are signing her items. Is this ok for me to do as long as there is not a 'No Photos'/'No Posed Photos' sign behind them?
  14. THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so so so hapy right now. My bank balance might not be by the end of this but I don't really care lol
  15. My vote would be for any of the cast of Eureka/A Town Called Eureka. That would make me quite happy. Not that I'm not happy with the guests already that is
  16. If you hear someone screaming will glee - it's only me XD
  17. I've posted a "Find a Roommate" topic Here at roadhouse_con I hope it can be of use
  18. To help spread the word on LJ, I've started a comm for the con http://community.livejournal.com/roadhouse_con/ Please come and join. :D
  19. Forum Name - absinthefairy88 Real Name - Megan but Meg's fine Age/Location - 21 (22 byt the time of the con)/SW Scotland What Ticket have you got/getting? Hoping to get Gold but will be happy with Silver Most wanted guest for RH? Misha. Hotel? - Hilton as soon as the code's up Facebook/MySpace etc - absinthefairy88 on Twitter Anything else we need to know -I still feel kinda new to all this. But for those who are interested, I've set up a comm on LJ for this convention - http://community.livejournal.com/roadhouse_con/
  20. I can second that. Had to go Standard at Hub3 and literally spent all my money (and some of my Mum's too) getting the photoshoot tickets. When you add it all up, it's a lot better paying that bit extra for a Silver to begin with
  21. It would be awesome if J2 could come but, as has been pointed out, there's a couple big stumbling blocks. Although, the con the week before is in Vancouver which, if they're filming season 6, wouldn't involve them taking much time off set so they might be able to work coming to Roadhouse. I realise this is just wishful thinking but a girl's allowed to dream. Anything from J2 would be awesome (ie video message or something) but I'm going even if they're not. They'll just miss out on the fun we'll have
  22. I can't pick just one from each! Too hard But out of all of them I'd be more than happy with: Sterling K Brown Robert Wisdom Frederic Lehne Traci Dinwiddie Charles M Whitfield Richard Speight Jr Katharine Isabelle Aldis Hodge Emily Perkins Mark Sheppard Emmanuelle Vaugier Jake Abel Mitch Pilleggi Gina Holden Wow - I don't ask for much, do I? As much as having Julie, Amy or Amber there would be awesome I think they might be better at Hallowhedon rather than Roadhouse. But that's just my opinion
  23. My vote is for Samantha, Alona and Rob. I think it would be so fun to see Samantha and Alona do a panel together.
  24. For those wanting the map - http://www.rogueevent.co.uk/images/Birmingham-Met.jpg
  25. For those worried about the size of the Hilton and getting around - I found a map of the hotel that was put online for people attending a Supernatural convention earlier this year. So if anyone wants it, I'll be happy to send the link out
