  1. Generally no but just don't mention the final talk at Chevron 7.8 in the same sentence :) As I say "shouldn't be", but obviously we can't control what comes out of a guests mouth no it can't be controlled but to be honest my daughter brings her ds and plays that during the 'boring' talks as long as there is no sound on it doesn't bother anyone else around and yes she was at that final talk at chevron as were other children younger than her although now she is 11 (and was so proud she had a grown up ticket and not a kiddy one) she does take an interest in the talks but at the end of a long day all she wanted to do was play mario 3d! I have seen plenty of kids and adults on ipads, ds's, phones, kindles etc.... during talks so you could always bring something to occupy him if he wasn't that into the person doing the talking. I know it isn't the point of the talks to be doing something else but it does happen - just putting a disclaimer in before anyone comes and says why go to a talk if your not interested but in this scenerio better an occupied child than one that gets bored and fidgity!
  2. Don't know about the parties although i have always taken my daughter to the ME weekend con parties at the last 5 chevron events and it has never been an issue. With regards to photos at SM and ME events she has queued with me and has either waited at the bag area or just walked straight past the guest often to their amusement, the crew are really helpful and will tell you what to do so don't worry.
  3. Doing a very happy dance I love Sean now what do I get him to sign and is he doing photo shoots - didn't notice in the original post although that could be because I am at work trying to conceal my delight!
  4. I understand that someone else is or has ran game of thrones con, maybe ME/SM are waiting to see if that is successful before attempting one themselves. Edited to say - return to middle earth con says will have game of thrones guests just need to wait and see who gets announced.
  5. Glad to see you are doing another one , saw ET8 was to be the last and had a mini panic thinking you will stop doing chevrons! Will be coming but for the 1st time I won't be able to buy a ticket at 7.8 as saving money for trip to New York plus am moving house next week, but will buy it after my holiday. Have to say am wondering who the guests are seeing as its in london again - I reckon Michael Shanks and JR Bourne and if not please try and get them both!!
  6. I'll be buying my ticket april/may time as i have done so for the last 2 bitten events - will be silver
  7. I would love the Blue to come back but he has said on his website that he won't be doing cons for the forseeable future, its a shame but can see his point of view he wants and needs to be available for work and doesn't want to run the risk of signing up to an event and then having to cancel it. Its a shame and I am sure he will restart them, he seems to have so much fun at them.... wishful thinking the Blue will return......
  8. For me the issue is not necessarily the cancellations, I have met both Ben and Chris before and to be honest I get quite excited at who the replacements could be but the issue I have is the replacements are all ME repeat guests and 2 of them were together at the last event they did, yes they are fantastic guests it has just left me a bit deflated that we have no one new as a replacement and I wasn't originally interested in the 2 girls who have been in approximately 1% of the show, I felt they were quite poor to have attending an SG convention although am sure they will be fantastic as is often the case with the ones I have no interest in. We haven't had many SGU people over and I don't know if you are trying to concentrate on SG1 as the last few cons have been pretty SG1 heavy, its not like SGU people don't do conventions they do and they have been over and are coming over for other events and by all accounts are fab guests. I am glad I am only silver at this event as would be very disheartened if I had paid any more. I have also done silver at 7.8 as have had to pay full price for my daughter as she will be 11 at that point and as I have no one I can leave her with that weekend the price of 2 Golds was to risky if cancellations occur. However if we are to start getting more repeats I won't be buying tickets in advance and will leave it until nearer the time to purchase if at all. There are a finite amount of convention goers and people will pay to see new guests if that isn't ME than so be it.
  9. I'm in the travel lodge, not stayed at a park inn since 7.2, will be interesting to see if everyone staying at the hotel is attending the convention, if people have been able to book through websites (someone posted earlier to say they booked through a website in september) and still have the rooms seems they are putting them above the convention goers. I thought that they normally booked out the hotel and you had to ring the hotel to get the room. Seems to be the hotel at fault, I would press for more than a drinks voucher, if you wanted to stay at the ibis and booked in may you could have had a saver room at £29 a night! Hope everyone manages to get everything sorted without to many further issues. See you all there later!
  10. Annoyed with the cancellation, but was to be expected - expressed my concern last week to my friend that he was still working on his film, we actually thought you would end up cancelling the event as didn't think you would be able to get replacements so near to the event. With regards to the replacements.....mmmmmm difficult am glad you got replacements however they are all repeat guests for yourselves so nothing new, am glad I only went silver this time and not gold as usual, I'll be coming and having fun as usual however all the comments that the weekend is about getting together with friends, yes it is however I wouldn't be paying for a ticket to hang out with my mates would I?? we would be doing it for free!!!!! I have already bought my 7.8 ticket but will not be buying tickets until much nearer the time in future, there have been far to many late cancellations recently for my liking.
  11. mmmmm......not the greatest news to hear, as much as I love the judge I have met him several times, I just hope that ME manage to get a couple of decent replacements, the 2 girls currently coming, I am sure they will be great guests however this is a stargate convention and they have been in very few episodes and tbh I'm not fussed about meeting them and currently I am not looking forward to the weekend as much as I normally do.... will wait to hear on the replacements.
  12. Manchester Birmingham None Trafford centre has a new event centre right next to it that could be an ideal place if you didn't want to do city centres - the only problem with it is no trains nearby although there is regular buses, this will need to be confirmed though, I drive and make use of the free carparking. Birmingham because its about an hour away from me so easy to get to and good transport links, other events seem to do well there.
  13. 1. none 2. Merlin 3. Terra Nova However another company is attempting to run a merlin con - I haven't a ticket because it is none of the main cast.....my point being I love merlin and terra nova (my new guilty pleasure) but to get me coming to a weekend con it would have to be main cast not someone that has appeared in a fleeting episode or 2 so I wouldn't buy a ticket until near the date of the con and as someone has already mentioned I doubt terra nova has the fanbase to warrant its own convention, unfortunately I don't do primeval which would be the most logical tie-in. Will be interesting to see what new events do pop up in the future.
  14. T-Shirt and Mug generally, maybe a couple of extra button badges - you don't actually get a bag though
  15. Alex Nelsan would be amazing!!!! Deborah James Frain - fab character in this and tudors Chris Bauer Ryan will add more later!
  16. We'll prob be in the same group then, it would take something pretty damn special to get me to go gold again after the disaster of stopping RDA mid sentence at the last event to move him on to the next table - they just don't seem to flow as well as they used to............Silver is the new gold lol we'll have our own party!!
  17. I can top that - we had a power failure for several hours. ouch, glad all is sorted now QS! Yes Chris, you gone silver or have you gone back to standard??? What have you got Jenny? you gone back to gold???? i just couldn't justify it with having to pay full price for lissy so back to silver tracey x ps - just putting the name J R Bourne out there btw as a guest request to you lovely lovely ME peeps!
  18. Mine crashed to, had to restart whilst having mad panic!
  19. 2x silvers booked - and now all is calm after my computer crashed on me!
  20. Gonna say JR Bourne again seeing as we have tokra (is that spelt right???) in attendence, although personally I think we need a few go'uld's Cliff Simon and Douglas Arthurs to name 2. Also I agree the last few have been SGA/SGU light so we could do with a few from there also. Hoping that there is 6 guests at this event as the 2 recent additions haven't really been in that many episodes but I am sure they will be fantastic guests as is often the case.
  21. You are quite right QS, there has to be a cut off at some point, its my fault not bringing it up before, as mentioned i was going to speak to the guys at 7.7, tbh was going to try and get them at bitten but they were always busy.... just kicking myself if i had and they would have said yes its still sticking at 10 and under would never have brought it up, its one of those i wonder if i had of mentioned it ..... moments. On other note it did used to be under 16's - certainly at the first heroes event and the age was reduced some point after that although that was £50 i think and included auto's if i remember correctly. Looks like it will be silver for us both!!
  22. Hi knowing everyone is at EMS I don't expect a quick reply, as I mentioned in the thread on 7.7 my daughter has a birthday later on this year and would become to old for a child ticket and I have no-one to look after her the weekend of 7.8 meaning that at the age of 11 I am having to purchase a full price adult ticket for her, she doesn't watch stargate and came to her first one due to a similar issue however enjoyed the parties so I have brought her to the last 3 with the one in November being her last one where she is still old enought to be a child ticket holder however a few weeks after that is her birthday so she is to old for 7.8. I was going to try and have a word with Jason and Mark @ 7.7 to see if they would look at amending the child tickets (currently aged 10 and under) to make it more in line with the likes of alton towers (12) etc.... she is still at primary school and it just annoyes me that to be able to come she would have to have the same level of ticket as me (normally gold although have gone silver at 7.7)at an adult premium, she doesn't know who half the guests are and yes I would probably have the xtra autos/pics of the people she isn't interested in but I do like to be near the front to get decent pics myself so going standard isn't an option. I understand child tickets are cheap for a reason and they don't get anything although I have purchased photo ops in the past for RDA - it had to be done and teryl (she was in a disney film that she liked), I know in all likelyhood nothing can be done so will end up most probably getting silver for us both. Just having a little gripe .......... knew I should have brought up the child ticket age limit issue at a previous event.. Also need to say, fab guests well done, you have really pulled it out of the bag on this one didn't think you would get Amanda next year so well done guys!
  23. ARRRGGGGHHHHHHHH May not be able to make this, having attended all Chevrons in the past I will try and somehow make it work somehow, in the meantime can SM just confirm the child tickets - i have brought my daughter to the last few and also the next one in November, then she has a birthday and will be over the age for the child tickets for the one in february, hence my problem my usual childminder is in China or somewhere nearby on a cruise and my back up who has her when I attend Bitten is away that weekend as its her birthday, I really can not justify the cost for a child at silver which is what i would be - do you have any plans for raising the age limit to maybe 12 like it is at Alton Towers... Will wait and see.... great guests though guys, didn't think you would get Amanda with the other event next year.
  24. I have took my daughter to 3 Chevrons and she has never got anything - not that I was expecting, she used to get a pass saying child 1 or whatever number she was, but because of the new style passes now - they punch holes into it to confirm you have had your pics and autos she didn't have one of them either and had nothing to say that she was a paying attendee, however all the crew were aware and we didn't have any issues which i thought we would of had getting in the halls etc... all worked rather well, just need them to up the age limit as this november's chevron will be her last, Alton towers have an age limit of 12 and i think this would be a more appropriate cut off.
