  1. Michael was at last year's Bournemouth show, hopefully he'll be back in the future but it's rare to have the same guests at consecutive shows, especially the American ones.
  2. Yes, signage was poor, it wasn't clear we were actually queuing inside the Grand Hall (although it was nice queueing in the warm).
  3. At the last couple of Collectormania, all the Sportsmania guests have been "No Posed Photos" even though they've often been sat at their desks twiddling their thumbs. I would expect that those who have shoots will be NPP at this event and wouldn't be surprised if everyone was.
  4. Excellent, that's clinched my attendance, if you could get Anjli Mohindra as well (she was lovely at MK a few years ago) that would be awesome.
  5. Danny was at LFCC a few years ago and was a really great guest, taking time with everyone and he gave an excellent talk during which he rang Robert Rodriguez and got us all to shout "Hurry Up and make Machete" (that gives you an idea of how long ago it was) to him.
  6. I posted this on facebook earlier: I'd just arrived at work this morning when the news of David Bowie's death broke. I wasn't prepared for quite how much it would effect me in just the same way that I wasn't prepared for my love of him and his music to hit me. Let me explain. Growing up Bowie was already a legend. I knew his hit singles from the early eighties and of course from Labyrinth, my sister Sarah Newall was a bit of a fan around that time so I'd heard his music from her room but wasn't a massive fan. It started to change when I went to University and got my first CD player. I joined the Britannia Music Club and one of my introductory CDs was The Singles Collection, one of the main reasons I chose it was because it was a double CD! It was listening to this that introduced me to his genius Seventies work and I started to really appreciate him, but I still wouldn't call myself a fan. All that changed on October 9th 1999. Martina Heath and I went to the old Wembley Stadium to the Net Aid charity concert to see Robbie Williams. We were waiting in the queue outside to go in and could hear Bowie soundchecking and I could hear he was going to play Drive-In Saturday which excited me but still I wasn't prepared for what would happen later. I'd ignored the Eurythmics, drooled over The Corrs, been captivated by Catatonia and enjoyed the other acts and it was now time for Bowie, Anjelica Houston introduced him and he came on with just Mike Garson and sang Life on Mars and that was it, he had me by the end of the first verse. At the end of the song I turned to Martina and said "It's David **** Bowie" with a wide eyed look of wonder on my face. That was it, I was hooked. I'd soon bought all his albums to date and have bought them all since, I'll even buy compilations or boxsets if they've got even one previously unreleased track on them. Not all his stuff has been great, the late 80s albums are largely miss and bar a couple of tracks you can ignore Tin Machine but he has always been interesting. In 2004 he played the Isle of Wight festival. In those days you could buy day tickets so I went over, got horribly sunburnt stood a few rows from the front of the stage all day enjoying some bands, tolerating others, watching England get knocked out of the European Championship and then he came on and did an amazing 2 hour set full of songs from throughout his career and, as it turns out, performed his own concert for the last time on British soil (he guested with David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall a couple of years later). I bought Blackstar on Friday, listened to it and enjoyed it on Saturday, today he's dead and I keep crying. RIP David and thank you.
  7. Excellent, that has clinched my attendance, now how's about getting Lisa (Elizabeth) Lackey to go with him.
  8. I think they were referring to Mickey's nickname that the Doctor gave to him.
  9. I seem to recall that after her spate of cancellations SM said they would no longer deal with her.
  10. SM had Grace at Collectormania 11 in 2007.
  11. But what would they say? "Still working on it".
  12. I think you might be getting your south coast "B"s muddled. She was announced for Bournemouth.
  13. No, you buy through the showmasters pre-order website. http://www.showmasterssales.com/although it's not up yet.
  14. His price seems to be creeping up. When I first met him he was a tenner. Recently, including Bournemouth, he's been £15, now £20.
  15. I noticed in one of the forums for one of the other events (either Sheffield or Glasgow) somebody mentioned that the photographer had put the Delorean pics on his facebook page. This suggests that it wasn't one of the usual SM prop shoots but done in conjunction with the photographer, so try looking there.
  16. The con is the 2 days after my birthday, so give me the best birthday present ever and get Eliza Dushku please. Oh and Sheridan Smith would be nice too.
  17. As mentioned above SM ran Musicmania in Milton Keynes a few years back. Unfortunately the calibre of guests wasn't amazing (Cheeky Girls, H & Lisa from Steps, Alvin Stardust, Paul Young, 9-11, Dane Bowers) and it didn't draw in the punters. I believe there was a music guest at the David Tennant EMS ( a lady from a metal band if memory serves) but she seemed quiet. Again, as mentioned, music acts have limited crossover appeal and if you aren't a fan then you're unlikely to pay for their autograph whereas with actors people tend to collect genres/shows and will get an autograph for completeness.
  18. It's booked that weekend and it's nowhere near big enough. The floor capacity is only a couple of thousand people, most of the capacity in there is in the banked seating.
