  1. As a fellow Bluenose I would have to second that! And Obafemi Martins too. Big wish would be Lionel Messi, although I'd want him to sign a contract to play for Blues, not a photo lol. Pele would be awesome.
  2. It's just a matter of taste. While I'm always happy to see SW guests, I don't care about Harry Potter. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts as for her it's the other way around. I'm just gutted I can't go as the gf is due to give birth to our second child on the 29th and I just can't run the risk of being in London if she goes ito labour slightly early. Still, will have something much better - and way more expensive in the long run - than a couple of autographs haha! I think it's great to see some of the sports guest too. Again, it's a matter of taste. A lifelong Gooner would love to meet the old players yet may not care about anything else there. Theres just one sports guest there who I have met a couple of times before who I have been found to be downright rude - and seen doing some things that they really shouldn't - but they are popular with a lot of people. I'll leave it at that though, I'm not naming names.
  3. JEJ is uncredited in ROTS and it's never been confirmed that he has actually spoke those lines or whether it was previous recordings spliced together. The clue also said that the character speaks, nothing about actually appearing. And this seems a good a time as any to ask: If JEJ refuses to charge for autographs, couldn't SM just pay him for his time / travelling costs / accomodation etc? With people getting his autograph for free, there would be more people paying to get into the event so there would be more revenue from that, and more dealers may want to attend, again increasing revenue for SM? Just wondered...
  4. Great excuse for not wanting her there - because you can't make it!? It beggars belief to be honest. Of course I'd want people to meet her, and I wouldn't want to stop anyone from meeting anyone that they wanted to. I was just trying to convey how gutted I would be to miss her if she appeared at the one show I can't make without having several body parts removed by her indoors.
  5. Shirley Manson - as stated earlier - for Garbage and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Flea from RHCP for BTTF 2 Louise Wener from Sleeper, well just for the teenage boy still in me haha. The lads from James do signings every now and again and Tim Booth played Mr Zasz in Batman Begins. Bonehead or Tony McCarroll from Oasis may realistically do a signing. I've already met Guigsy and I think Noel & Liam would be a bit of a stretch.......
  6. Please God no!!! I'd love to meet Carrie Fisher, but the other half is due to give birth on the 29th November so it's the one event I really can't go to......... Any other time and I'd be well up for it.
  7. Top 10 Films The Shawshank Redemption Pulp Fiction Empire Strikes Back High Fidelity Serendipity City Of God Godfather Part 2 Almost Famous Chasing Amy The Italian Job (Original) Top 10 Guests (however improbable, and in no order) George Lucas Harrison Ford Kevin Smith Max Von Sydow James Earl Jones Bill Murray Dan Ackroyd John Cusack Arnold Schwarzenegger Sigourney Weaver
  8. Jean Claude Van Damme played the Predator but was uncredited. Some of his scenes are still in the film, probably distance shots.
  9. I would have to go for Carl Weathers too. Not really bothered about asking him about the Rocky franchise, but Happy Gilmore cracks me up when I need a laugh!!
  10. Let's get some of those members of the Jedi Council back or at the very least folks like Jerome Blake, Alan Ruscoe, Silas Carson etc. that playted multiple parts. Also, AHMED BEST!!!!!!! Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Peter Mayhew, Irvin Kerschner etc have all done SM gigs before so they could be asked again. I don't want this to sound horrible, but a lot of the original trilogy guests aren't getting any younger....... As for Star Wars, it would be unbelieveably awesome if James Earl Jones could come over. For us horror fans, he would be good as he was in Exorcist 2 aswell (even if it was a bad film....) Ellen Burstyn & Max Von Sydow from the Exorcist would be good. A full Cenobite reunion would make a good talk, (Doug Bradley does do his "Evening With Death" talk) and add Clive Barker, Ashley Laurence, Andrew Robinson & Claire Higgins too. The only TV show I have ever truely loved was Quantum Leap so Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell would be great and there could be a good talk there too..........
  11. It would be better if it was a Horrormania instead....... you know...... just throwing the suggestion out there
  12. Any information that you put on here that can be easily used to find a competitors event will be removed. Dates, locations and especially the name can all be typed into Google easily and can lead you to the competitors site. This forum is for Showmasters events. Anything that mentions competitors is in breach of the forum regulations set by Showmasters, so that's why your post would've disappeared.
  13. I second that. Even though I'm a Coventry local, the Ricoh can be a pain in the ar#e to get to - even if you a driver. I went last Sunday with a carload of people and a buggy and it wasn't great, but the NEC is way more accessible to a lot more people. And as a Birmingham City fan, it pains me to have to pay to get into the Ricoh, no matter what it's for!
  14. Predator is one of my favourite films, this is awesome!!!
  15. There's been loads of negativity on here about the cancellations but without the SM team, I would never have been able to meet Bruce Campbell, Ernie Hudson, Linda Blair, Robert Englund, Doug Bradley....... Guests cancel and things happen over which you have no control. I had to miss LFACC this year and I was gutted as there was loads of people there who I really wanted to meet, but something way more important was on the cards so I couldn't risk going. Guests there were booked once and they can be booked again. 2008 has been great and I'm sure 2009 will be even better......
  16. If you have fewer shows, it will limit the chances of guests being able to attend. If you have 10 events in a year, you have double the chance of getting people there than if you only do 5 shows. It really is that simple! What's to say that guests will be able to attend at any specific time anyway? And while it would be good for me personally to be able to save more money between shows, there are plenty of other people who can afford to go and support the events more reguarly. Why should they be penalised? I'm lucky that this weekends show is on my doorstep (well, 5 minutes and 1 junction up the M6 anyway) but other people will travel for, what I feel, is a varied line up. Much more so than something happening locally next month that just seems to be Bond Girls and Dr Who guests. At least this event has a selection of Film, Sports and TV guests and I'm looking forward to it.
  17. Horror guests I'd love to meet would include: Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair, William Friedkin & Max Von Sydow from The Exorcist (Throw in James Earl Jones for Exorcist 2, but really it would be for my Star Wars fix....) A full Hellraiser reunion with Ashley Laurence, Doug Bradley, Claire Higgins, Barbie Wilde, Nick Vince, Simon Bamford, Oliver Smith, Sean Chapman, Andrew Robinson, Clive Barker. Wes Craven, Heather Langenkamp, Robert Englund & Johnny Depp (Yeah right....) from A Nightmare On Elm Street. Even Laurence Fishburne and Brekin Meyer from the sequels. Christopher Lee from any of his Hammer outings. David Hess from Last House On The Left Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead films The list could go on.............
  18. I must admit I am getting a bit browned off with driving 2 or 3 hours for 1, 2 or at tops 3 guests. Thats £40 to £50 in juice alone. Whereas, for £400, you can fly and do 20 to 30 guests!!!! A friend of mine is moving to New York (well New York State anyway) in a couple of weeks and I'm going out to see him next Summer and tying it into a trip to the other coast to San Diego (surely it's ok to mention an event 5000 miles away and hardly competition?), and I'm really looking forward to meeting loads of people from the genre that I'm interested in. I drove for 2 hours to get to CM Manchester earlier in the year, purely to meet Doug Bradley (It took 5 hours, 2 wrong motorways and a trip back to Coventry via Leeds and the M1 home, but thats a different story.... lol). I also travelled to MK in May just to meet Linda Blair. Ok, it's only an hour each way but still - only 1 guest. But it goes to show that people will travel for Horror guests. I think that there is a massive calling for a "Horrormania" event. Even if it's not full blown and just included like Sportsmania is going to be at the Ricoh. I know that the Ricoh is my hometown event and the first one was fantastic, but there just doesn't seem to be anything to interest me in this one - although I appreciate that the guests may not all be announced yet. While everyone is entitled to their opinions and tastes - of which I have full respect for - it doesn't seem like the horror community is represented well compared with other ones such as Dr Who fans - something like 6 guests from Dr Who or spin offs at Ricoh, all 3 announced guests for Glasgow being from Dr Who (although Warwick Davies has announced on his website that he will be attending), the Torchwood cons.......... If there was a Horror only event with some big names, you could guarantee a good turnout. Just my 2pence worth....
  19. I'd love to meet: Exorcist: Ellen Burstyn & Max Von Sydow Star Wars: James Earl Jones, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels Jay & Silent Bob: Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Jason Lee, Joey Lauren Adams, Alan Rickman, Jeff Anderson, Brian O'Halloran Hellraiser: Ashley Laurence, Simon Bamford, Claire Higgins, Barbie Wilde, Nicholas Vince, Andrew Robinson Ghostbusters: Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray And for loads of different reasons: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Quentin Tarantino, Bruce Willis, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Lee, Wes Craven, Sean Connery, Roger Moore..........................
  20. I live in Coventry so I can give you a few hints.............. If you like R&B / Dance and a big club environment, then you have got Lava & Ignite in the SkyDome complex (near train station). There's also a Jumping Jaks in the same complex if you like a cheesy night out. These are quite expensive though. There's also a Chicago Rock there too. If you are staying near the Ricoh, then Nuneaton is an option and shouldn't cost you too much in a taxi. That has pretty much the same sort of thing just slightly smaller......... For Indie / Alternative music then you have the Kasbah nightclub, Scholars, or the Phoenix (which is a Scream pub with a nightclub bit upstairs). If you just wanted a drink then you could head into Earlsdon (short taxi ride from the city centre) which has got quite a few bars along the main Earlsdon High Street. The Aardvark (Scream pub) is good for a drink and is student orientated so can be cheap which is just outside the city centre. Hope this helps!
