  1. Not able to make Collectormania but on a general note would love to meet West Wing cast members and know several other people who would agree.
  2. Well, I have to admit I spent a stupid amount of money last weekend - and at numerous events in the past. Would it be better spent elsewhere? Probably. But would I change the fun I have at the events or the friends I've made? Nope.
  3. Highly unlikely given the date of this event.
  4. BRB when I've finished laughing!!!! no need to be harsh there onli asking Well, we can all dream I suppose!
  5. I wondered about him a while back too, I'd love it to be him. I don't think he has done conventions, but I think he did a panel at Comic Con once for Doctor Horrible. Apparently Amy Acker tried to convince him to do one a while back but he's not interested.
  6. He did LFCC a few years back so afraid not. Over-reactions aside, as other people have said the obvious thing was not to announce anything until the contract was in hand. I get that Jason & co are clearly excited about getting this guest and couldn't wait to share the news - or at least the news that news was on the way - but it's always a shame when something which should be fun turns into a slanging match.
  7. To be honest, even if it was sent registered post (which mine was), that only costs about another 75p (ish) on top of the normal price. And let's face it, if you buy things off, say, ebay, half the time the postage charged rarely equates to the actual stamps on the package. As keithporter23 said, you're basically paying an admin fee - maybe it would be better to simply describe it as that in the online shop.
  8. She was in London during promotion for when Sister Act opened - she's hardly going to stay around for its entire run! But if there was a choice between spending money on Whoopi or Twilight guests - well, no question. Would have to be Whoopi!
  9. It was a blink, not a wink (some spoilers) If that makes any difference to people.
  10. Yes but unfortunately that's how the world works, isn't it? Some people can afford more than others. Is that unfair? Well, sure, but it's never going to change. Does having gold or silver tickets penalise people with limited funds? Technically yes, as they can't afford them. But that's not the fault of the people who can. As Bob has said, this is an extra. It wasn't included in the ticket price, whether you bought Gold, Silver or Standard (although as I posted above I do think Gold ticket holders would have the right to feel a bit put out if the encounters were free, when they've paid extra for the cocktail party). However it would have been ideal to have had more than a couple of days notice so that people could plan their budget accordingly
  11. Or how about a blind auction where people write an amount on a piece of paper and whoever puts forward the largest amount wins? I can see people being reluctant to actually pay for raffle tickets but that way, only the winning bidder actually pays anything? Raises less money of course but might cause less bad feeling!
  12. Well, there are raffles where you put your name down for a particular prize - so, say, there are 5 guests (or 4, if Adair isn't doing it), have that number of bags, boxes, whatever and people put their raffle ticket in the bag for whichever guest they want to bid on. If the attendee's name and reg number is written on the back of the ticket then you'd be able to tell whether the same person had won more than one encounter. As Chris also mentioned, I just don't see how it would be workable for every attendee to take part - whilst it may seem like a small convention, attendeewise, it's still too many people and if they did try and fit everyone in, you'd end up having very limited one on one time. So the argument comes back to "If we can't all go, how do we choose who gets in?" One other point - one of the perks of being a Gold Pass holder is access to the guests at the Friday cocktail party. I appreciate there are others (priority seating, group photos etc) but they've still paid more for their ticket for that one on one time with the guests. Would it be fair to then open a similar experience (albeit without the free wine!) up to everyone for free?
  13. At Eclipse we were checking in behind a couple of girls who certainly did encounter problems - the hotel weren't prepared to let them stay by themselves. So I would check their policy before turning up and having a last minute panic when you discover you have no where to stay.
  14. Summer's already booked for another event next year. Thomas would be welcome anytime though! Heck, any of the cast.
  15. I'm one of the people who posted in support of Showmasters at Whedonesque, largely because I find it annoying that people who have probably never been to one of their events have decided to label them con artists. Yes, the announcement on Robia's website does raise questions and goodness knows there are enough conspiracy theorists around to ask them. But you only have to look at the guests that SM/ME have managed to get in the past to see what they're capable of. And as I said at Whedonesque, and others have said here, if I was running an event and decided to make a false (or, let's say premature) announcement in the hope of some quick ticket sales, I'd pick a bigger name than Robia.
  16. You're in luck then, as she's in a play on Broadway at the moment (Boeing, Boeing). Looking forward to seeing her in that
  17. Well, I reckon I'd put Elle on an equal footing with, say, Eden and no doubt if Norah had been announced people wouldn't be calling her a major character. Of course Kristen is a bigger draw in herself, irrespective of how large a role she played in Heroes but if you're after main Heroes characters as opposed to the most famous names in the cast, I don't think Elle qualifies as a "major character". Ando, though, no question. In my opinion.
  18. These people do loads of events - and I've yet to have one of their marquees fall on me!
  19. Certainly one of the David's in the Christmas Special has a companion (Rosita, I believe) but I'd read that the Doctor arrives and leaves alone.
  20. I've never had a really disappointing experience with a guest so I can't comment on that side of things. But on the flip side, I've met a few people who play villains and yet were so lovely I've thought "Well how can I ever take them seriously again?"!
