    MK

Dates were announced for Collectormania 18 1st-4th June 2012 There were posters to this effect at C17 Also http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....llectormania+18 So unless I've missed something, I thought those were the dates for the next MK event
  2. YAWN !!!! There's already several threads to this effect
  3. Well I was about to shut down the computer, but feel free to post another guest tonight !
  4. Whilst I didn't do the flyering, Due to the advert in the Metro Newspaper, I've had several colleagues here at work who know I go to "those sci-fi event thingys" show an interest in the event. So far I've had comments like "Ooh, They've got the guy from Spaceballs and Gremlins, does he do a talk and does he do the voices" "It's the Todd from Scrubs!! I think he was great, can I get his autograph?" One colleague said they've been invited by a friend in Glasgow to come through to Braehead this weekend, as they got given a flyer for a collector-something event, I asked if they knew where their friend got given the flyer, but they didn't know. So I've been explaining in more detail and sending weblinks via email galore !! So word has got round and I thought SM would appreciate knowing the metro advert works, and those who physically did the flyering that somewhere along the line must have been targeted correctly !!!
  5. I don't know if they're suitable but a quick search on google produced the following :- Braehead Shopping Centre Braehead Shopping Centre Tel: +44 (0)141 885 4600 E-mail: braehead-info@capshop.co.uk Website: www.braehead.co.uk Braehead Shopping Centre is located right of Glasgow's M8 motorway, about 5 miles from the city centre and only 4 miles from Glasgow International Airport. More than 100 Stores including: Argos, Boots, Bhs, Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys, Woolworths, W H Smiths and HMV Restaurants and cafes including: Burger King, Costa Coffee, Pizza Hut, KFC, Mcdonalds and Fat Jackets Facilities: Car Parks, Toilets, Cash Machines and Exchange, Baby Changing Facilities, Shopmobility, Telephones, Shoppers lockers, Information Points Leisure facilities: include: 4000 seat International Arena, Skating and Curling rink, Riverside Boardwalk and Clydebuilt - the Maritime Heritage Centre. I suppose you could make enquiries directly, unless others know of any plans to have some sort of storage area within the event itself for those who wish to cosplay ?
  6. Where the information is listed, is someone Jason has I believe worked with before to get guests over to a UK event. I'm not sure what the policy on naming is these days, but I couldn't get the actual event site to load up for me, but I found the info via other ways. If I said the logo was a duck with shades on, that might be enough for me to relay who it is, though feel free to edit this post if it's too much information.
  7. I know now mods don't have the bat signal !! But they do have that mythical mods only forum section instead which has at times generated timely replies Thank you though !
  8. I agree about not wanting to start a rumour or be a naysayer, but based on the info above, I can confirm she's listed as being elsewhere the weekend of the Glasgow event. If a mod reads this, can you please flag this up the chain for SM to check into ?
  9. Our Glasgow event is shaping up very nicely I think now. With the recent announcement of Robert Maschio, I think I may be right in saying that he has not done a SM signing event before? So if someone can confirm this please, I'd be right in saying that he's a first time signer to a UK event ? If he does come under any of the above, surely he could have been promoted in the original guest announcement as so ? Then there's Michael Winslow, if you didn't experience him when he was at Milton Keynes, be prepared for an experience if there's a talk ( l use the term loosely ) with him. Plus the fact that they are 2 guests that are being flown from overseas for our event. This shows there is investment in the Glasgow event. There may be other things I've not realised or commented on, but am tired and at work !! So SM have invested in our event, so now down to us to put our money/time and effort into spreading the word and showing our support given the comments that appear on the glasgow section such as "We're the poor relation" "SM aren't doing anything about our event" " Why don't you bring X or Y guest?" etc etc Looking forward to CM Glasgow !!
  10. Better warn the Braehead shopping centre lol !!!! Sunday Talk please if possible !!!!
  11. SM : If you read this, can you put the entry tickets in the online store asap? It'd help spread the cost of everything out. Thanks
  12. You could say the same about any city, about the type of people. Yet they attended London, and there wasn't a problem with "the type of people" who went to LFCC and met them. People have made their comments known to the point of a thread being censored, so how about we all just move on from the subject of whose attending, and bring this thread back to it's original topic ? It's the same forum members inc me in the threads concerned. It wasn't a big deal in the LFCC section, and it won't be a big hoohaa for the glasgow event. So moving on, here's hoping that SM read this, and start to get moving with whatever other guests, events, talks etc they have up their sleeve for Glasgow, after all, it's not long now !
  13. I wouldn't say it's damaging the event. I think all it really boils down to is the fact people are afraid of change. I don't mind admitting that I've been extremely guilty of this on the forums in the past, but after speaking to Jason & Co. The way change is brought to an event and handled has generally worked. So now I attempt to keep an open mind, where something different to the norm is introduced, doesn't always work, but I am by no means perfect ! So don't stress, attend the event, and peace & karma will reign supreme !
  14. Excellent guest, Holly is really nice, and surprised a female friend of mine at LFCC, by asking my friend where she got her eyeshadow. My friend was quite pleased at the fact that a model asked her about makeup !! I look forward to meeting her again, and hope that if SM are listening or read this, can you please put the photoshoot tickets in the online store for purchase before the event ? It helps spread the cost out !
  15. The early bird tickets really all depends on you as the attendee, some attendees like to get in, get what they want and leave to do other things, I've bought them in the past for myself and friends as we like to spend the day there taking in talks by the guests , leisurely browsing dealer stalls, stuff like that. I think alot would like to meet Sam Neill, and he may be more suited to the bigger events, however Natalia Tena was at the Glasgow event I think last year, Warwick Davis has also done the glasgow event. It all depends on SM's judgement if they think they can recoup the costs involved of getting a guest to appear at an event, and indeed if the guest is available for the dates of the event. Never say never though, the glasgow event is growing, maybe not as fast as some think , but it is, last year we got ( before he cancelled ) Joe Flanigan, who would have been flown over for the glasgow event, which shows SM are starting to bring overseas guests to our event. So based on that, guests such as Harry Melling/the Phelps twins are surely possible !
  16. Welcome to the event then. It's not big enough to get the same big name guests that MK or London get, but each year the event does appear to get more investment put in to it. The queues aren't that long, and generally everything moves at a steady pace, but it's balanced so that you can get a moment or 2 to ask the guest a question about their work. At MK or London, there are some guests that for whatever reason do not want photos taken either of them or with them, I'm sure you can apprecaite that's their decision, but with our event, this is not something I've yet noticed happening. If in doubt, best thing you can do is watch those who are in front of you in the q for a guest and if you see photos being taken, you're ok, but if you don't see photos being taken, then don't bother asking when it's your turn to meet said guest. Hope this helps, but feel free to post any more questions and they'll be answered by those in this section. If you've not bought your entry ticket yet, may I suggest buying it online in advance? This has 2 benefits :- 1. Saves you paying on the day, as you've bought in advance! 2. More tickets sold online, means SM have a bigger budget to spend on the Glasgow event
  17. To be fair, they were all at LFCC, which the last letter kinda implies it is a convention, so the big difference part of it to prove a point falls face down on the floor a bit there... I don't go to see them because they have no real interest to me, but I can see why others would and as long as it does not affect other guests I don't see the real problem with it. That's exactly it !! Just cause they don't interest you, doesn't mean others wouldn't be interested for whatever reason. It's not like anyone is being forced into meeting them or indeed any guest ! Wish more attendees adopted this attitude, it's like me saying I don't like Twilight, so therefore why are guests from that being invited. But I appreciate there's a following for it, so live and let live I say ! Everyone to their own thing and all that !
  18. Yeah, is unfair, if you took the time to research, you'd find out that Monica actively does charity work, to raise money for various causes. Also, whilst I don't know if she's yet signed up, another attendee obviously gave Holly the forum address, cause she confirmed it with me and a friend. So yet another guest may be reading these very forums...
  19. I can't remember which thread it was posted in, so here goes I was one of several who'd obviously met Holly Mcquire, and in chatting to her, she mentioned that she and Kyla Cole are attending CM Glasgow in August. Monica Harris usually attends the same events as Holly and Kyla, but Monica is not able to attend the glasgow event, as she will be in training for her charity fight night that she is not only taking part in, but also helped organise the fight night. So it does show that even though they've not officially been announced, there is movement behind the scenes for CM Glasgow. Hope this helps explain.
  20. SM may not be seen to be doing much, but there's always stuff going on behind the scenes. There are 2 more guests to be officially announced that have already been discussed in another thread here in the glasgow section. They may not be to everyone's taste I admit, but at least it does go to show they have worked on the Glasgow show. After the post cleanup and rest of LFCC, We should start to see movement on CM GLasgow inc the official announcement of the guests that told me they're due to attend it .
  21. I'd agree that there were somethings that could be improved on, that all seem to boil down to communication. But as has been said here, I thought there was a nice atmosphere / vibe around the place. I didn't do the Karen Gillan Talk, but did get a photo, and autograph from her, and at all times I really got the impression she was genuinely enjoying herself at the event. When I met her for the autograph, had time to make a quick comment about what she thought of this signing compared to the one she did in Glasgow, and she took a moment to ask what I thought about the Glasgow signing, I wasn't expecting a guest to ask my opinion !! It was a bit of a surreal moment when Mark Shephard walked in to say Hi to her !! Met Christopher Lambert who signed my replica Highlander sword sheath, and he also added "There Can be only one " as well, which I thought was really cool.
  22. I have to admit I hope the same thing happens in the future with any big names who may get announced, if Karen or Alex were "out the front" you'd get throngs of people who aren't meeting them, but would be blocking the area trying to get photos. Then those who are meeting them run the risk of any items they've brought for signing getting damaged in the crowds. Put yourself in their shoes, get a group of your friends to continously take photos of you with the flash on, and time how long it takes before you either get sick of it, or your eyes hurt, or you have a headache. Then mulitply that by several hundred people all doing the same thing.
  23. One minute attendees are saying they want to meet big name guests, so when SM do bring in big name guests, such as Karen or Christopher Lambert. Attendees are saying the event was too big ?? SM obviously can't win at all ! SM brought us Karen Gillan and Christopher Lambert, both of which I did meet, even with the prices. So I'm curious to see if getting such names paid off for them and just who they might announce next if the gamble worked. I've not seen early morning queues like that for a good while !
  24. I hope SM NEVER get a printer for the photoshoots, if you're one of the unlucky ones just as the ink starts to run out, the pic looks really faded. Also, if the ink hasn't bonded properly to the paper, and you want to get it signed, not even a sharpie pen will dry, and you've then got a poor quality photo.
  25. I can confirm it is due to be Holly and Kyla, Monica Harris can't make it as will be in training for her upcoming charity fight night.
