UPDATED: What themed events would you like to attend?
KrazyKid197 replied to showmasters's topic in General chat
There should completely be a labrats convention. *g* And then get Masi Oka, because Franklin on Scrubs? That's my job. I too have a favourite microscope. *is complete geek* But voted for Prison Break because it's by far my favourite of the lot. -
if anyone wants me to appear then that will be fine

It must be, cos I'm just over 5'9", which isn't that tall and loads of people comment on it. Maybe because I'm the shortest in my family it doesn't tend to be a big deal. I guess people won't pick fights with you though. -

My old youth "queer" group were doing a documentary (I think Channel 5 were going to show it), on what it's like to be gay. I skipped that week. Doesn't get irritating being asked all the time? (My best friend is the shortest in her family at 6'2" and it really bugs her everyone commenting on it.) -
Yeah, but they're awesome so you should totally get s2 and s3 anyway. ;p

Guest Cancellation Jacqueline McKenzie

Well that sucks. Seems fairly childish, and a shame for the fans. -
Circulating around LiveJournal for you, see what comes up.

Guest Cancellation Jacqueline McKenzie

4400 guests! Much love SM. And Jacqueline is so amazingly nice. 400 talk perhaps? Please? -
Anyone else seen it yet? Sarah!! *is completely dead*

Not sure I agree with that. I get to work at 8.27-ish (to start at 8.30, enough time then to wash hands, put on labcoat before I begin), and leave on the dot at 5pm. Though the NHS does sometimes give paid overtime at my level. But I'm expected to do a full BSc in my own time. (4years rather than 3) so it's not like I don't put in the hours, about a week of my annual leave goes on studying. Plus, if you're not paid much, then there's probably not much incentive to work past your contracted hours is there?

We don't seem to be getting either so it's not like it matters anyway And yes, yes it is. However personally I was supposed to get a 5% increase (to do with how close you are to being qualified. Could the NHS organise this? Payroll haven't sent my payslip to the right place since March. Once it turned up at my parents house.) Parts/fluids *shrugs* You can't squick me. What part of the NHS are you stuck working in?
-
It was 1.5% in April. And supposedly another 1% in October. Or that's what we were offered (NHS scientists.) Don't get me started on the NHS pensions either...tis ridiculous. Anyway for a lot of NHS staff (clinical at least) it's actually illegal for us to strike. I'd be fired for it. Though I actually don't have a problem working with body parts.

Happy birthday! *throws sparklers* Hope work didn't suck too much. Kip

I liked the good old days when you didn't have to pay to park at all. So now I refuse to purely on principle. Shall be parking by the Old Barn as usual.
-
I could nick a labcoat from work and wear that. ;p NCIS guests would be beyond awesome, any of them (though yes, especially Pauley.)
-
Also, generally with conventions, the guests announced closer to the event are more likely to be there. (Since if they're booked now they don't necessarily know what their schedule will look like in the hiatus. If they're booked in March then they really should.)
-
Well we got rid of the other team, so it was just us left. ;p All in close range. With ammo left. ;p Still, twas much fun.
-
It's not that bad really. A lot of them don't really hurt. It was dangerous at the end when we all set on each other. And some people came off worse. (Jason in particular had serious bruising. There any pics of that?)
-
Heh, looks like you guys had fun. I have a fairly impressive bruise on my side (my grandmother freaked when she saw it. ) from the paintballs. Hope the alcohol numbed the pain a little.

Collectormania is primarily a Sci-fi/fantasy event, and I'm assuming a lot of the customers they've built up (myself included) are there for those, and so they are probably looking to please those too. Plus, there are still several weeks until C12, and SM are very good at pulling amazing guests out at the last minute. Have a little faith, and if the guests aren't your cup of tea, then don't go.

Jphn Lesiw now has a barrier though which they don't lift until 9.30am

FORUM MEET - Paintballing and Drinking! Sat 6th October
KrazyKid197 replied to showmasters's topic in General chat
Hehe, we won! Blue team for the win. And there were few injuries. After we washed the blood off of Andy's head, and Jason especially is looking a little spotty (and sporting broken bones). Plus bruises for everyone!! Twas awesome though. Thanks for a great day guys. -
I thought that Michael Shanks was technically second on the cast list because he got the "and..." at the end. Or am I confused by that? No it's not. I'm pretty sure Doctor Who can claim that title.

36k? Jesus. I make 14. (Should be 15k this year, but have the NHS organised a payrise...course not.) Even qualified with a masters degree it'll be ten years plus before I'm up to 30k. *shrugs* To me, striking is unprofessional. If you sign up for a job, on the salary and the demands of it, you can't really start not coming to work if they don't change it.
