I was staying in another hotel and came back to the park in especially for the party because my little one was looking forward to dancing again. We were both very disappointed that there was no party - decorated tables does not a party make. On the con website it does say sunday night chill out party and we were asked to raise hands if we were staying for the party to it was not unreasonable to expect a party to actually happen. I found it very telling that there were no crew left around on Sunday night and therefore no one to complain to! I'e enjoyed the sunday party at all 4 previous hubs and find that not putting on a party on the sunday with no explanation to be entirely unacceptable. Well done to those who attempted to remedy the situation, you looked like you were all having a great time!

Oh dear. Really gutted about the Carnival theme. Clown terror made the party quite difficult for me last time. Oh well!

There was a 'squidge squidge squidge' lady as well? I fell victim to the bubbly 'scooch scooch scooch' lady a few times. I never got squidged once though. If she was short and cheery with curly hair it is the same one. She has variations, all of them wonderful! And yep - he said ran out of ideas. I do feel bad for moaning as I enjoyed the parties for the most part but when there was such a list of suggestions there is no excuse for not knowing what to play.

I have to agree with those that loved the weekend. I think it was the best hub after the first one and I had a super time! All the guests were lovely and chatty and the crew were amazing! My favourite is the "squidge squidge squidge" lady whose name I don't know but who gave me directions to Pizza Express when I was really hungry! All the first timers were great fun too. Ian Gelder is my new hero. He was so nice at the signing that my friend and I bid on his encounter as no one else had. I can promise it was no quite as intimate as he suggested Kai was as wonderful as ever, Cush was superb and Susan may have the best set of legs I've ever seen on a woman her age. My only complaint - and it's the same complaint every time - is that the DJ (lovely as he is) seems so unprepared. He knew it was 80s night for weeks and way before the end he said "I've run out of ideas so it's con dances from here". I know they make people dance but it does get repetitive by night 3 and he has done 4 of hubs so should be better at being able to fill the whole party.

Signings are different from cons. The reason that people are so keen to have GDL back at the hub, I would assume, is that he is terribly amusing during the talks and great fun and very entertaining at the parties. I can appreciate that showmasters wont comment on possible guests but I also appreciate the concerns of those who are worried about the lack of high profile guests this time around. Yes, we have had two super cons with an excellent standard of guest and for that I think Showmasters deserve a round of applause. The problem with this is that they have now set the bar very high. Its all well and good to say that people shouldn't complain when comparing with other events, but I think its understandable that people will compare it with the previous hub events and will feel disappointed that they do not have the same standard of guest for the same price on their ticket. Of course, the guests at cons are only part of it and I'm sure everyone will have a great time meeting up with friends. I just think its unfair to attack someone for voicing their concern that the line up wont be as strong and its particularly unfair to attack previous guests. Having said that, I still think The Hub will be more fun with Gareth there. Gareth and Kai have been two stand out guests at the last two and do feel like part of the furniture. With Kai unlikely to attend due to impending fatherhood it will be doubly sad if Gareth is also missing.
