  1. Bleeding smilies! The was supposed to be b )...and if that comes out as a smilie I'll scream! No I can understand some people getting frustrated if things are taking a long time, and it may well have been with Andrew and Hannah on Sunday that this was the case, but if so it was because the guest assistants were having to basically do the jobs of two people rather than one as we couldn't put cash desks out where they should have been due to the weather.
  2. See, it's your opinion and that's fine but I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with you. Not everyone who attends these events can afford to pay for photoshoots with guests as well as autographs and all the other expenses as well. Nobody HAS to pay for a photoshoot - it's your choice. Plus, to take it to a logical conclusion, if lots more people paid for photoshoots and all guests did them you would a) find that the guests were at the tables for a lot less time signing autographs, therefore reducing the likelihood that those who wanted their photoshoots signed could get them done and need more photoshoot areas and photographers! I think the taking of photos from the queue as you're waiting for things to get signed as with Tennant at EMS is a good compromise for the busier guests, otherwise you're going to de-personalise the experience of meeting the guest even more than it can be already.
  3. I couldn't get to him because I was busy in another part of the stadium, but I asked my mate to get Danny to sign my dvd cover for me. I wonder if I was the only person who provided a Cadfael dvd cover - apparently he was shocked anyone knew he was the Leper!
  4. Not as much as I could have done - advantages of being a busy crew member lol
  5. Can I just say anyone who thought it was cold on Saturday should have been there today
  6. I parked up at the Venue car park - again £5 all day and around 5 mins walk.
  7. yep I was thinking the exact same thing that and its april 1st lol I said that in my original post, but it's been mysteriously edited out....
  8. Sorry Jason. I don't normally bite at these sort of things but I am going to this time. Guests need to come out of their millionnaire cocoons and realise that not everyone has vast amounts of money they can lavish on autographs at the moment. Sure they get hit up by the same people every night, but you get to know these people pretty quickly and there is nothing at all to stop people saying "I've signed for you once, I won't do any more". I've seen it happen on more than one occasion. Alternatively sign one for each person and insist on personalising it, or do what some have done and go down the "theatre merchandise only" route. A genuine fan would be more than happy to get a signature on a programme. Dealers/traders are easy to spot - they're generally the ones who are there night after night with piles of the same 10x8 and a complete lack of manners or thought for others - so for guests to say they don't know the difference as you've stated above is most likely poppycock. Of course guests are going to say they prefer to meet people at conventions - they get paid handsomely to do it. Would they enjoy it as much if they had to do it for free? Of course not. And seeing as you mentioned Diana Rigg most people in their right minds are probably going to want to get her scribble for free at the theatre rather than pay £35 for essentially the same thing in a factory line.
  9. I would love to meet a composer or two at one of these events. John Williams would be the Godfather of course, but sadly it's too late for the one I'd really want to meet - Michael Kamen
  10. I was lucky enough to be sat with Norman on the Sunday and had a great day talking about all sorts of things with him, not just space stuff, during the quiet periods. He thoroughly enjoyed his weekend, was quietly surprised at the number of people who met him and would be more than happy to do another if asked.
  11. And thank you also to DB for advertising the fact we were there on twitter :)
  12. I have many and varied ones - a lot dating back to the 80s. They tend on the whole to be football or cricketing ones, mostly in books, but I have picked up a few from events in the past few years as well. My favourite? Bobby Moore in my autograph book. Such a shame I'll never be able to get him on my World Cup photo
  13. But even given that, a lot, if not all, of the Who guests are known for other things too. Examples: Georgia Moffett - I got 2 autos, one in my Bill book and one on my Bonkers DVD cover Ian McNeice I got on my Cadfael DVD cover Shirley Henderson I got on my Topsy Turvy DVD cover Philip Rham I got in my Band of Brothers book
  14. Hmmm I've no idea if there's a duplicate one of me with David around or not. I was in the first lot so there may well be. Wonder what will happen to it...
  15. Knowing which guests they'd be taking in advance. Ok it's late and my brain is mush, but I don't understand what you mean by that one?
  16. "Banished in positive-comment-about-bear shocker" LOL Wrong Bear!!!
  17. I couldn't possibly say about that - we were only there this weekend because somebody very kindly donated the cost of the tables so everything taken went straight to the charity. Personally I'm sure H4H would love to be at each event as well... Thank you for that as well DB
  18. ...to everyone who visited the stall or supported us in any way during the weekend. I know the guy in the Bear costume had a blast, as did the official H4H sellers there, and a lot of money was raised for a worthy cause. If any of you reading had photos done with the bear we would love to see them in this thread if possible
  19. That was my mate wandering round in the costume - think he ran on adrenaline! Oh, and the odd bottle of water/coke/anything else! And trust me, if you'd had a chat with him you'd probably still be there now! (Sorry Steve ) Also for the record, we paid for the H4H stall the same as any other dealer would have done, and it was worth every penny to do. Many thanks to everyone who contributed, no matter how little. It all makes a difference
  20. you not crewing? surely photo shoot A is yours on sunday ;-) Actually no I'm not - for reasons which may become obvious if you manage to track me down there. Yep, I like being mysterious
