  1. Maps for all!! Last time I went to a SM event there was a floor plan in the programme I was given. That was far more useful than a few pages about GoT or Dr Who!! It may well have taken some pressure off the information desk as well. I saw the plan on the wall but couldn't get close enough to read it!!
  2. This isn't a "wish I'd met" more of a "would have been nice to meet" Bernard Cribbins. Met everybody else I wanted to so its all good.
  3. How has the "Make it more expensive so the poor people aren't in my way in the queue" post managed to stay on here?
  4. Us fans shouldn't turn on each other but you think that SM should price some of us out? Nice, real nice!Just to be clear only on the most prestigious guests such as Stan Lee or other A/B list actors......there is only a limited amount of time and if say 5000 people want to meet person 'X' and there will only be enough time for 1000 to do so - then I simply would put the price of 'X' higher to limit the amount .....its called supply and demand. In effect this is exactly what happened with Stan Lee, Dealers, Gold Pass and Silver who pay a premium to be there got all they needed. So that's what was done for this event it just wasn't taken on board by attendees (despite SM warnings that the higher passes would give you the chance). Then at least people would know if you turn up on the day you would have virtually no chance of getting guest 'X' So not putting the entry price up, not putting the regular guest price up.....just the top few guests. This has been done at many events.....I paid £250 auto and £255 photo for Stallone.....many more wanted it, but there was not enough time, so higher price takes one section of the queue out of the mix. This isn't a new idea....think airplane seats, 14 First, 72 Business, 40 Premium, 300 economy.........THIS IS HOW THE WORLD WORKS.......I'm just being a realist. 'so higher price takes one section of the queue out of the mix.' Yeh people on low incomes who save through the year to go to an event like this and have as much right as anyone else to meet guests. People with families trying to get by. Students who struggle on part time jobs. People with disabilities who rely on saving part of their benefits month after month to come, people living off national pensions, people who have to consider what they are going to have to give up for a little while in order to come to comic con. People just like some of the people on this forum who have to budget and save and scrimp. People who are just as much a fan as you are. I cannot believe that anyone would openly suggest that this is the right idea moving forward. At the end of the day if you cannot afford to fly first or business class you can still buy an economy seat which is a guarantee that you will be on that flight. Out charging a majority of people who come to your event DOESN'T make business sense. The answer here is better organisation. NOT taking away the chance for people poorer than you to meet the people they love and admire. This is an experience that should be open to all NOT just the privileged few. You said it perfectly I agree. And as for the "300 economy" seats that the "not being smug realist" mentioned... they would only sell 300 tickets... not 800 pre-booked and tell people there would still be loads available on the day.
  5. My top guests were Paul McGann, Mickie James and Magnus. All 3 were really nice and happy to chat. Oh... and this goes to brooketessmacherfan... there's not many people can say they've had Brooke on both arms but you can dude! Haters are always gonna hate unfortunately but hey... you've got two cool pics with a beautiful woman!!
  6. I agree that the fans are brilliant. I'm always impressed with the Cosplayers (and a bit jealous if I'm totally honest!!) There were several I would love to have commented on or asked for a photo with but my anxiety issues prevented it. The non-cosplayers and dealers were fantastic too. I think it's great that a 38 year old guy like me can go somewhere and be told that my Iron Man tshirt is cool!!
  7. How to move forward... stop hiding or deleting posts that aren't saying how great everything is and actually accept some responsibility. I have no complaints at all about the show but the way this keeps happening is really souring the whole Showmasters experience.
  8. I'm not here to cause trouble or stir things up but I'm not here to kiss anybody's rear end either. But as this isn't a place for free speech (not my words) perhaps I'm missing the point. I'm not having a go at anyone and I'm not against anything that anybody else says or does as long as its accurate and not offensive, I'm just giving my own opinion. As I've said elsewhere I had a good time at the Con but a lot of the handling of correspondence after the event has taken the shine off. I've stated that I enjoyed Saturday and will hopefully be attending other events but even that was hidden for being a duplicate thread. (Although I saw there were at least 3 threads still in existence regarding Programmes...) The fact is that you can't please everybody, even if only 10 people turned up! But I would expect all 10 people to be allowed to have their opinions heard... I'm looking forward to Showmasters official response and hope that ALL the opinions expressed on here are taken in to account. (Apart from the shouty sweary name-calling ones... obviously)
  9. Thank you for the link moderator. I had read the rules as I stated and I hadn't seen your response to my comment elsewhere. (The link would have been helpful on the "I've already replied" message. Like I said I'm new to using forums so I'm not trying to be controversial or anything!!)
  10. That's what I hoped would be the case. I asked a similar question in a different way and my thread was removed. Apparently a moderator had already replied to me but I never saw their reply.
  11. Can individual offensive posts be removed by moderators or does the whole thread have to be hidden or removed?
  12. I posted a thread earlier titled "...now you don't" and it appears to have been removed. I have looked at the rules and am not sure why it has gone. Could someone explain please as I am genuinely sorry and don't want to make any further mistakes in future.
  13. I get the quote but never got the clues!! How a set of car keys could lead to Dusty Bin I'll never know!!
  14. Like so many others I've noted my good and not so good experiences on Saturday elsewhere. However I've only just seen this thread and wanted to say that I was very impressed with all the crew members I had contact with. Thank you for helping!!:)
  15. I tried to raise the point about posts (good or bad) that followed the rules should be left on show but they've hidden my thread
  16. Nicholas Hammond from the 1970s live action Spider-Man series. (And apparently he was in The Sound of Music or something)
  17. I think the dust was an added bonus. Well done Showmasters!!
  18. I'm sure I saw a thread on here about facts, drama and fiction yesterday but it appears to have vanished... Surely people's genuine feelings and opinions aren't being hidden from public view... I mean... I had a good time on Saturday and did everything I wanted but surely people are allowed to voice their opinions either positive or not so positive...
  19. And I have mentioned elsewhere how I thought the Showmasters crew members that I had any contact with did a great job but I wanted to say it again. I appreciate that they were in the middle of everything and would have been on the receiving end of people's criticisms but I personally thought they were brilliant and that's why I (and I suspect many others) waited to put my constructive criticism on the forum so the organisers could see it. That's also why I put my positive comments on here. (Which outnumber my negative ones by about 10 to 1 by the way but I respect other peoples opinions and their rights to express them) Now be nice people
  20. It's mainly the complaints about people not getting in early or the big queue outside that annoys me, when it's their own fault if they get there late and expect to get straight in. It's when you see people contradict themselves by saying they hated the long queue and they should be letting more in, but then say it's too crowded inside. I mean, did they expect showmasters to make the building larger somehow? I just hope showmasters look here and see people who enjoyed it, and answer the raffle program questions. I've also pointed out elsewhere my positive reactions to LFCC. I've also pointed out what was not so positive. I have noticed that some people with only positive things to say about the Con have been quick to say that the people who didn't get in basically had themselves to blame. Its not possible for some people to leave their homes at stupid o'clock in the morning and it is advertised that you can turn up without having tickets. I just think the people in the queue could have been kept more informed of the entry situation. I had a good day on Saturday but I saw the problems that other people had and I can see that the organisers need to be made aware. The fact is we are all fans and I for one just want everyone to have a good time. Its unfortunate but there will have to be negative comments so that things can change and improve. After all, you learn from your mistakes not by being told everything is wonderful...
  21. Mickie James was really nice and so was Nick Aldis (Magnus). They were both happy to talk to me while they signed. Lita was nice too but not so chatty! Jenna Coleman wasn't feeling great but she still looked beautiful in my photo. My top guest (again) had to be Paul McGann... He was happy to talk at the signing table and was really good in the Tardis photo session too.
  22. Last time we attended a Showmasters event we got a small booklet that included floor plans and schedules that was really useful. This time we bought a souvenir magazine. I actually quite liked this but it definitely wasn't a programme. But the point is this... I don't think its right that myself and the 2 people that came with me paid a fiver each when they were being given away later... This is NOT a criticism or negative comment in contravention of G1 in the forum rules but a simple statement of fact.
  23. I thought Paul was a fantastic guest. I couldn't believe it when he just walked along the queue to get in yesterday morning! I found him to be really friendly and I was quickly at ease with him. I wasn't at all bothered about the photo not being in costume, I'm just happy to have a photo with a great actor and a top bloke!
