  1. The timing is really bad though her personal situation is worse and I doubt she would be in a fit frame of mind to attend.
  2. Yeah, there does tend to be a few smaller bits and pieces as display items not for sale in a few tables as well as prop items that ShowMasters bring along (typically in or around the info desk) last year the 501st Legion guys (the pro-costumers who mostly hang around the front doors) had R2-D2 & C3P0 both posing for fans to take picture of/with (at no cost) so there's always loads of stuff to spot and to geek out over!
  3. Yeah, just to express I definitely don't expect to be remembered. Just perhaps make a bigger impact than the next in a queue that creates a general feeling of the fan love of the masses. This is more an issue in the big cons and it is one of the reasons I do love GCM as you do generally get much more time to chat and see the guests as just another person really.
  4. I have got autos before too and I do get the appeal of meeting someone your a huge fan of, though I don't mind all the baggage that come with that (is it just another name to you, do they even care about meeting you or is it all about the pay etc) I accept all that, it is what it is and is more about "just having fun" and the overall experience. The main point really I suppose is I wouldn't want to be "just another fan" in there eyes if I bumped into them outside a convention event so I'm just not sure that's a thing for me personally, everyone has there own reasons for going to these things I guess and I was mostly realising within myself that i find enjoyment outside the whole " just going along with the crowd" type mentality. These events are fantastic though and I wouldn't change anything about them I throughly enjoy seeing all the different passions coming together and just celebrating our love and gratitude for the franchises we are fans of.
  5. Yeah, that was the plan though as per it all comes down to money, basically it was go to this or enjoy a trip to London and WB Studios...guess what won!
  6. Just to answer your question to William for him, Barrowman was signing for his latest book, I was tempted to go down and try get a cheeky Arrow auto from him though didn't have anything decent for him to sign. Also kinda put off by his support for the No campaign!
  7. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, even at it's busiest last year most did still get in and got an auto (after a long wait) from however they were most interested in seeing. However if your looking to get quite a few autos as well as get the best picks from the stalls and go to the talks etc, it is a no brainier just turn up nice an early before the doors open and you will be fine!
  8. Wasn't really a question of is there two talks, more..."and where is the second stage going to be??!"
  9. Incredibly disappointed I can't attend this year, and as it draws closer I'm getting kinda depressed about this so I'm asking everyone on here if you can post up all your awesome photos/videos that you take so I can share some of the experience too thanks. I will keep an eye out on any posted elsewhere. Hope everyone thoroughly enjoys the event and hopefully I'll be back again next year.
  10. Here's a great list; http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g186534-Activities-Glasgow_Scotland.html some you have seen already though still loads of others in here you might not be familiar with. Also i do recommend the Science Centre, it is a family friendly place though so is Braehead especially in the weekends, so I would give it another go and just take your time to go around it. Also don't forget the IMAX is attached too and always has some great documentary or discovery style shows on there (as well as actual films if you prefer). Typically there is an unofficial pre-event meet up and after-party too if that takes your interest, though they are arranged by the regulars on here and I've not seen any posts on that so not sure how likely that is,
  11. Last few times I got the bus in full zombie make-up, that got some pretty funny reactions. It can be a bit nerve racking though it's the perfect way to get used to not just being dressed as someone but beginning to "be" them, it's the perfect excuse to go a bit nuts and have fun with it. Plus you kinda act as a walking advertisement for the event since you end up telling so many folk what it's for. It's all part of the experience and you'll still be smiling from all the crazy moments weeks later.
  12. Yes! More giant robots needed!!! Seriously though, I would say Anime is pretty well represented outside Glasgow too I saw loads in the LFCC and a few other events too. Mainly it's the huge popularity many of these shows have with the younger crowd and it tends to be for reasons such as colourful, obscure, and creative. Many of these characters have some amazing weapons/props and the build side of things seems to be a big reason too. Biggest reason is there are social media groups for loads of these shows so you know a few folk will turn up as characters from the same thing, it defiantly makes that the biggest deciding factor I would say. The main annoyance for me is I actual do love Anime & Manga yet rarely know the more obscure characters (though I don't watch most of the popular shows around) I am a huge Battle Angel Alita fan and would love to see that represented! I was playing around with a few ideas for something different this year and my top two was Lord Voldemort or Arrow though unfortunately seems highly likely I won't be able to make it this year :'( mainly down to money as I'm going down to Warner Bros Studio in London the following month and my Harry Potter obsession requires that I'm able to buy a sufficient amount of merc. (A wand is number one must have, oh and I MUST try some Butterbeer!!)
  13. If it's more of a community I feel you could reach a bigger potential audience in a Facebook group/page.
  14. I once got told I obviously didn't realise it was a Star Wars convention, and who was I ment to be anyway! I was of course a zombie! :S Again zombie costume, it wasn't cheeky just kinda annoying a few folk seemed to think I was two face, I could understand if I only had the zombie make-up on one side of my face, but I had effects, blood and a very gory ripped shirt on so I wondered what version of the character looks like that??!! I also got one kinda weird request, that I had to decline and shuffle away from that situation. I kinda was hoping they were just havering a laugh, but it was a very awkward situation. Generally though the vast majority of folk are polite and typically a bit nervous about asking, and it was always fun to be a bit zombie about putting them at ease and showing them it's just for fun.
  15. Cool idea with the one word thing. Then you'll have a page full of autos.
  16. That was done in spades last year, it was amazing to see as though most realised last year was going to be busy nobody guessed just how busy and even ShowMasters themselves said they were shocked at the turn out and had to employ a one out one in system, a first for Glasgow. I'm sure this year will have a bit if a knock on effect since even more folk are aware of the event and it's grown in popularity, though it'll just as quickly loose any appeal it gained if they don't put on a similar level again. Though all that said, we were promised more focus to grow this event last year because of the amazing turn out, and told the up stairs area could get used for the bigger guests and keep control of too many huge crowds forming. I don't accept that it can't be done now as last year proved it can be. It's a matter of time and money more than anything else I feel.
  17. So we are predicting guests instead of suggesting them now. Lmao. I think it boils down to the same thing though!
  18. Hope you don't mind, I improved your list slightly. Sure this is what you meant to say anyway!
  19. I think that kinda thing is more down to the owner who obviously just has it in storage until an event asks if they can use it. That said how hard would it be for one of the staff to ask if he could shine it up a bit.
  20. I would still ask guests too, I think you'll be surprised how many will love to do something a bit different. It's a cool way for them to remember meeting you as well. Up to you at the end of the day though.
  21. The arena isn't as big as the more well known events, this is much more of a smaller event though as said before last year we had an unexpected surge as we had a good number of highly popular guests. We have a few names that will draw in some crowds though not sure it's quite at the level as before (personally I doubt they sadly can really accommodate the space for the really big names) I've never felt the need to pre-book tickets, I arrive for the early bird tickets if there's someone I really want to meet plus it gives you a bit extra time to check out the stalls before it gets busier (typically the majority come after the ticket prices goes down around 11/12, generally it dies down a bit again around 2/3). Even last year for the really busy time I had plenty of chance to get all the bigger guests pre-empting the fact the crowds would die down enough. If your willing to hang around the whole day like I always do it gives you all the time you need to see all the guests, talks, stalls, photoshoots and cosplays.
  22. ShowMaster need to make this event work as it's already losing ground to a newer event in Scotland and soon more and more will go to what they feel seems like a bigger and better event (bigger yes, not so sure about the better part) I believe that this or perhaps a altogether new event could easily work for one of the huge arenas that Glasgow has, it makes sense and you know the numbers are here as proven by last years event for you and for the other event also (it got a huge amount of media press just for the size of the lines alone, even though Braehead had a very similar experience it wasn't as huge a deal in the media). It is in yours and our interest to keep this event going, you begin to take this on seriously like you do your London events and you will get just as serious a response. Scotland isn't this really difficult and inaccessible place , it's just as easy to get bigger guests here and they will come if they see an event to a scale that is necessary for the level of interest required. It may seem like a risk though now is the time to take it while there is huge demand for these types of events. There's a huge sporting event taking place all over Glasgow this year I'm sure your aware of, doubt they even stalled for a second to think it's not worth the hassle to bring all the athletes, and make sure they have the biggest and best areas for there needs. You put in the effort and you will see the return, just like you did for last years show, this one seems to have taken a backwards step. I hope I'm wrong though and they will be a number of last minute announcements for a few more big name guests, different photo shoots and maybe even a car or van perhaps (this could easily be parked outside the actual area itself next the the queuing area, plenty of room, I've seen show cars around that area before) again the more stuff happening and the bigger an event seems the bigger a crowd will come, you said you wanted to make this show even bigger this year, so let's see it!
