SunSpeed
How busy was the first Collectormania Midlands in terms of how many people attended on the Saturday? Was it as busy as at the Mk with Collectormania? I'm hoping a few more guests are announced in the next three weeks. I've read elsewhere in this event's forum that the room the event is held in (is it the Jaguar Exhibition Hall?) is quite large for just TV and movie guests. nicky
I went on the Sat last time and it was very quiet indeed - I guess not many people knew about it as it was a new con. Nothing like a Sat or Sun at MK at all.
Flibble
Oh, I thought it would be packed like Saturday is at MK. Hoping to hear very soon which days the guests will be attending as I still need to book a train ticket.
Moderators DavidB Posted October 11, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2008 No show really reaches the levels of busyness that MK did in the shopping centre. LFACC comes closest.
vintageSW77
I remember it being busy roundabout 2 oclock around the stalls. I remember bumping into people whilst browsing and my gf nearly tripping over Warwick Davis so it must have been fairly busy. As for auto lines the biggest and steadiest crowds were for Bruce with others grinding to a halt on and off. How the next show is going to be i dunno. SunSpeed
Thanks for the replies. The people I want to see are.. Kane Hodder Richard Dreyfuss Dirk Benedict Dwight Schultz Paul McGann Nicola Bryant Vaughn Armstrong and Natalia Tena. I would say it's a safe bet that Kane Hodder, Richard Dreyfuss, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schultz and Natalia Tena will have the busy queues. Ideally it would be great if it was quiet with all of the guests as you have more time to speak to them. Dreyfuss should logically have the busiest queue, but with the lineup as it is, I'm not sure how many people will travel just to see him. If he was at an LFACC or Collectormania in MK he'd no doubt be very busy, but he's not surrounded by big name guests this time. I'm sure he'll still be the busiest, just not as busy as he would be elsewhere. Dirk and Dwight should be steady, as they always are. Same with Paul McGann probably. Everyone else should be busy in places but no real issue to see. If you're organised and know what you're doing with queue tickets etc, which you no doubt do, you'll have no problems. I have to disagree. I dont think Hodder will be that busy - he was only one of many Jasons and those Friday films dont have the broad popularity that Freddy's Nightmare films do. I'd be very surprised if you needed a VT for him anyway. Biggest q was for Brent Spiner it was? I think it was different at different times. When I met Bruce Campbell (everyone would think he was busiest) I was the only one and there was no queue - but then again this was towards the end of the day. I usually hang around as late as I can to ensure I get to meet them when they are less busy. Edited October 11, 2008 by nicky

Moderators DavidB Posted October 11, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 11, 2008 Richard Brooker (Part 3) appeared at Collectormania 10. Steve Daskawisz and Warrington Gillette (Part 2) have both done US appearances. Warrington has definitely done a UK appearance too, but I don't know of Steve doing one. Does this apply to the Halloween films as well? ***** Six days to go! (showing my enthusiasm. I'm genuinely still interested in going. Show your support and there may be a third Midlands event). Due to the guest cancellations the people I want to see are.. Richard Dreyfuss Dirk Benedict Paul McGann Nicola Bryant Vaughn Armstrong Caroline Munro Jack Klaff and Natalia Tena. MikeDonovan
Dreyfuss should logically have the busiest queue, but with the lineup as it is, I'm not sure how many people will travel just to see him. Hits the nail on the head - Dreyfuss is a great guest, but I'm not undertaking a passport-wielding Charley Boorman style trek all the way up to deepest darkest Coventry just to see him. If a few more guests materialized I'd take a look, but at the moment I won't be going - the guest list just isn't there for me (I'm not being negative, just saying for me there's no real names on my 'list'!). I reckon a lot of people will be the same, so I wouldn't expect Dreyfuss's queue to be nearly as busy as it would be at an LFACC or an MK, where he'd get a hell of a lot of random traffic. Does this apply to the Halloween films as well? Well most of the Friday and Halloween films havent had general nationwide theatrical release in the UK whereas I'm pretty sure all the NOES films did cos they were vastly more viable to the general public...plus they spawned succesful directors too in their own right. I think Freddy is definately the more famous and popular killer too out of those films. Friday, Halloween and NOES might all be pretty much as popular as eachother to horror fans but to the general public I think not. Shame Kane Hodder has cancelled, it would have been interesting to see how busy he'd have been. I know Ken Kurtzinger was quite busy at C5 (but not at all compared to Englund that wkend) but that was probably cos FvsJ (a major film the public would have seen) had recently been released and Freddy himself was there too which wold have urged people to get sigs from both guys for their FvsJ items.
