  1. Im just curious how it all works and why we get who we get in the end. Oh to be a fly on the wall.
  2. Tales from Jabbas Palace is a good read as is JEDI ACADEMY trilogy.
  3. There isnt much point voting if the statement earlier is anything to go by.There have been some wide of the mark choices of late here and thereabouts regarding who the organizers feel will pull a worthy crowd. Maybe they SHOULD base guests/shows on the results of what the polls want for once instead of the organizers picking people. Then we would spare the embarassment of say the guy who played Fukutu who i witnessed recieving about 5 people to his table in as many hours. I was at the bar facing him and when i wasnt having another walk round the stalls to see what id missed the gf was and the poor guy had to stare into space longer than Neil Armstrong probably ever did.Seeing stars looking glum with piles of unsigned pics is not unusual at shows, its a shame and kind of sad and as it is a "business" youd think theyd done a bit of research beforehand. Good to see some heads up for Horror over the past 2 pages.
  4. Well its the first time ive voted in a poll here so excuse me for not knowing how these things go. Seeing as the head honcho posted it i thought itd play some part in how things may go now matter how small.
  5. Yes but this poll is a flawed idea. You have to vote for something in each section which if you are someone who doesnt watch a lot of tv you are having to make a choice of summat you arent that keen on just to get a vote up for what you want thus giving a vote that will have a negative impact on the show you want to see.
  6. And now live from Bolton .........................its Collectormania MANCHESTER!! Fudge something at the last minuite? Wasnt this announced last summer? Heres whats on this year through the summer at the Gmex dunno if any of these fall on a wknd- Landlord & Buy-to-let Show 2009 - 5th & 6th June UK Radiological Congress 2009 - 6th - 10th June Traffic Management & Parking Conference & Exhibition 2009 - 11th June Macular Disease Society Regional Conference, Manchester - 13th June CIPFA Annual Conference - 23rd - 25th June Kids Fun Ideas Show 2009 - 27th & 28th June National Osteoporosis Society Conference 2009 - 28th June - 1st July Manchester Furniture Show - 19th - 22nd July
  7. Well of course you dont find them as scary anymore - you're older now and your mind has developed and matured enough to realise it's all just a make-believe. The prospect of standing in a bus que nowadays is far more scary than anything on the big screen.
  8. Well i voted As ive never watched Being Human and with it being the newest show up there i thought that not many people will have seen it so a vote for it wont make much differance, mind you the Who fans who are not being represented show wise might vote because two of the stars have been in WHO....argh! I also voted for the "fit" girl option. Seeing as the majority of women i think fit were super fit in the 1960s and 1970s itd have to be a retro hotty show, not that im saying that Stephanie Beecham,Joanna Lumley or Caroline Munro are no longer attractive because yknow......
  9. I dont find horror scary anymore not since i was a kid anyway. I enjoy the genre but i will say after watching the end of Dead Set i did something that hasnt happened in years....i slept with the light on! To memory the last thing horror wise that scared me was the white figure in EXORCIST 3 that follows the nurse out the room in the distance with a big knife...that screwed me up bigtime. Otherwise its not horror that gives me the willies in film - Joe Pesci and his brothers death scene in CASINO and the bit where the nuns/female missionaries are raped and murdered in SALVADOR....now those were chilling.
  10. Not sure I understood that. Aliens deserves it's own con seperate from Horror cos Aliens has a large enough and specific fanbase - there have been Aliens cons before in the UK. The whole Aliens thing is a big thing in fandom...plus it's only really the first film (and the 2nd ish) that are true horror. Terminator is in the poll specifically for the TV show and even the films were never horror. Im just saying that a horror fan is far more likely to vote for Aliens( which the first movie is a horror flick, give the alien a butchers knife and its a stalk and slash movie) than the latest spin on what can we do with pretty people and the supernatural this season or crime shows where victims get raped, murdered and peed on and not always in that order. I get you.
  11. Most Haunted - its a load of balls to be sure but he/she lumped it with a horror con so i got to show some support. As for Accora....hes made me laugh a lot in the past. MARY LOVES DICK!
  12. Heres the thing (and firstly thanks for the inclusion of a horror choice) You have to vote in all 3 to get a vote but what if you only have one hobby? If i vote Star Wars ( which i was fairly obsessed with up to that first and last viewing of The Phantom Menace but hey NO MORE!)id be adding a vote to something which is more popular than my true choice and which over time would be in part responsible for canceling out my main choice. And why Aliens (which is Sci Fi horror) and Horror in the same section ?,i cant vote for the same section twice. The crime shows are split over 3 sections so the crime fan gets 3 votes for shows of the same genre and as this forum is full of tv fans and crime shows are big thing at the moment the totals will be in the crime shows favour. Im a horror fan but do i and the majority of horror fans watch Supernatural and Charmed ? Nope - so the crime show fan has the advantage. Why dont you at the next shows give a small basic questionaire with an entry ticket and ask people want they want that way. When i go to a show i walk round have a beer, walk round have a beer then walk round and have a beer....theres plenty of time to fill one in. Not everyone at shows visit this forum,i bump into people who i know at events who dont visit here nor would they and they are always moaning about the line up(please dont say well they should join the forum as not everyone is the forum type). Twilight is hugely popular here, its the teenage girls new "big thing"- just look at the introduce yourself thread in that part of the forum (come on we know you have) it could win any poll set and does this represent all the people who go to SM shows ? No. So they will win every time (And this is not a critisizm the last thing i want to do is offend a bunch of teenage girls and have them chase me round the next SM show Benny Hill stylee) As for bonekickers.......why that over the absent Doctor Who choice?
  13. The problem with this is there is a slide in the popularity in tv/fantasy/sci fi FANDOM. Theres a differance between watching the stuff and getting out there to meet people and it appears that not that many people are mithered nowadays. At the end of the last decade it was a different story when it came to shows, the atmosfear if any nowadays is totally different and the differance in the amount of attendees compared to then is there to see. As a whole the con scene in the uk at least is in trouble,tv shows come and go as do the audience..theres no sticking with it. As for the LOTR fans they are going to get a second bite soon though...
