Question about the new Dr Who series !

From Outpost Gallifrey:

"Will Paul McGann be returning for a regeneration scene?

There has been much speculation about this and, as yet, there has been no official word from the Production Team. Paul McGann, at the last Gallifrey convention (February 2004) and in a recent SFX interview (March 2004), suggested that he would be happy to return for a regeneration scene if asked, but as yet had heard nothing. Outpost Gallifrey believes there will be no regeneration, based on current information, and that McGann will not appear in the show."

I have no idea whether it will happen or nor, but as I said in another post:

I have no idea There has been allot of debate since the film as to whether Paul counts as a doctor.

You have the people who say that he does not count as Peter Cushing does not count (he was in a Dr Who film too)

Then you have the people who say Paul does count, because he regenerates from Sylvester Mc Coy at the begining of the film (Peter Cushing does not regenerate from/ into anyone elce, so still does not count)

I personaly beleive that Paul should count because as I say he does regenerate from Sylvester, and there have been tons of spin off books written with Paul as the Doctor. I know the film is not part of the TV series and it was written and made in America (This is also some people's argument, why he should not count!!!) but you cant get away from the regeneration.

I for one am verry interested to see if Paul will regenerate into Chris, as for me it will end the debate and show us all how the makers of the Series stand on this issue. I will still continue to believe Paul counts, even if he does not regenerate, but I will also accept the decision.

My bet is that we won't start the new series with a regeneration. It may be seen as "too confusing" for new viewers (of which there may be many).

If (when!) the series takes off again there may be an opportunity to show a flashback as to how and why McGann regenerated (possibly to rid himself of the mullett!)

Was thinking the same - best not to confuse viewers at a make-or-break stage like a re-launch, but Paul deserves to get a regeneration scene for his great performance in the movie, and for the Karma of the franchise - there's a phrase you don't hear every day .......

I have no idea There has been allot of debate since the film as to whether Paul counts as a doctor.

Ask any whovian and he does count because:

He regenerated from Slyvester MCCoy the 7th doctor (who was in the show for less than 10 mins before regenerating!) To make Chris the 9th Doctor without question he should regenerate from 8th doctor Paul.

The 8th Doctor has been the doctor in the Dr Who magazine comic strip and there are a tonn of audio adventure featuring him.

Paul was part of a BBC production so is an official Doctor. The Dr Who movies don't count as they were not BBC productions and the main Character was 'Dr Who' and not 'The Doctor' - its a bit like "Never Say Never Again" even though the film has Sean Connery and James Bond in it, he is not the character 007.
