Big guest incoming thursday. Hopefully we get a good mix of guests and not just the one big name.

I still think they were planning a Doctor Who guest with their last announcement, and they would have been a saturday only, with David Boreanaz being a Sunday guest. So maybe we are getting the announcement now.

As always I’d prefer a large number of medium names with some smaller ones thrown in, but if we get a big one I am hoping for Capaldi or Tennant as the former I’m yet to meet, the latter has moved up the ladder for Series 4 given the amount of names I have on said set now:

  • Catherine Tate (Donna Noble)
  • Jacqueline King (Sylvia Noble)
  • Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler)
  • John Leeson (K9)
  • Julian Bleach (Davros)
  • Jessica Martin (The Queen - “Voyage of the Dammed”)
  • Sasha Behar (Spurrina - “The Fires of Pompeii”)
  • Adrian Rawlins (Ryder - “The Planet of the Ood”)
  • Christopher Benjamin (Colonel Hugh - “The Unicorn and the Wasp”)
  • Colin Salmon (Dr Moon - “Silence in the Library”/“Forrest of the dead”)
  • Michael Brandon (General Sanchez - “The Stolen Earth”)

so having David Tennant atop of that would be great, of course with how my OCD works if Peter Davison was ever announced he would go above Tennant on said list, the Elder of the family I guess.

also I’ve had a thought, because in the recent trailer we saw before Jinx Monsoon an appearance by one June Hudson if Showmasters booked her they could likely get what many people would assume to be a guest from the new series, but then they’d have a costume designer from the classic series, and in turn you’d have an actor from the upcoming series and someone who is deep rooted in the series

Surely on that note if it was a Doctor who guest it would be on the 19th anniversary instead of two days later.

You're applying logic and common sense to the guest announcements

Reading the obituaries in Doctor Who magazine. Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers, did more than Vengeance on Varos, he also worked on the prosthetics for Minwarp and The Curse of Fenric.

February was not a good month, along with Dave, and Pamela Salem. We also lost Russell Brook (various 5th Doctor stories), John Savident (Visitation) and more famous as Fred Elliott on Corrie, andStuart Organ (Dragonfire)

Damn February was awful, and I mean Jesus what an awful month that what 7 names that month alone because early in the month we also lost Michael Jayston, still shook up about that

Lets hope so it would be nice to add more names, i've already stated who i want any particular stories i'd like guest stars from, but at this time Peter Purves & Janet Fielding have moved their way up my list quickly

I hope we get a good mix of classic and new Who if I'm being honest.

I cant see us getting any guest actors from the upcoming series, unless they are known for something else, as there wouldnt be much that we could get signed, I reckon these would be saved for the winter show

I do think we will get a few of the upcoming series announced nearer the show mind as the new series will have started, and availability will come in to play, hopefully these wont be one shot guests though so we can get them in the future.

The first and only one who comes to mind is June Hudson who is in the new series, and then she’d cover two classic seasons (a third if you count design work for Season 19 even tho it was only helping design 5s outfit) as a costume designer, and even Class for a single episode appearance, and given Show-masters has taken a step into a direction of Production Personnel it’s an increasing chance.

if she was announced she’d likely be a £15 guest, and immediately I’d be slapping down that cash for my “The Keeper or Traken” as my current regret is I didn’t get her on said set previous, which now names on that set are a higher form of priority.

In that term of switching to also getting Production Personnel it’s bound to annoy people who expect the bigger guests and only them, and tbh I’m here for it, conventions and events are my last refuge from the normality of life, even with it being more mainstream with cosplay and media attention, if all events were getting these massive big guests constantly and only, I think it would ruin the experience with too many people coming in and not looking to have the con experience, but to get in queue up and meet said person, before going off and complaining that they didn’t have a positive one for any number of reason, the most likely being that they were rushed through, because everyone else had the same idea.

with the ones they do get, you at least have guests who are dedicated to the events and the fanbases as opposed to a lot of trend hoping on what is the most popular.

which yes this sounds like gate keeping but id rather not see LFCC go the way where it’s so unrecognisable and I can’t have a healthy discussion with people in lines about what they’re getting signed and who else they may have on said set or item.

There does seem to be competition to see who can get the biggest guest, which is all well and good, but these guests come with a price attached that not everyone will be able to afford. Which is why I like the Showmasters stance, where they've come out and said on numerous occasions, that we can xyz guest, but they dont think people will be willing to pay what they'd have to charge.

General rule of thumb as well, the bigger the guest, the less time you are going to get in front of them, most of us know, a diamond pass guest is pretty much going to be a conveyor belt experience, walk up quick hi, hows yours day, and away you go. Anything more is a bonus.  It's not a meet and greet like some people have assumed and expected

I like that we can usually get a good mix for the summer shows.

I do get the annoyance with the conveyor belt experience ironically i've only had that for a guest who wasn't diamond pass, which was Jenna Coleman, even with Diamond passes for Matt, David and Jodie i never had an issue with being swung through, second time with matt i got a few minutes.

and as you say they CAN get such a big name but the money required to meet them would spark backlash and only a few people would be able to actually meet them, of course on the flipside we have the Joseph Quinn situation (Funny how that happens), where the price was low enough that people were queuing up and being annoyed they couldn't actually meet him.

the summer show tends to have a nice mix of guests, and i do enjoy getting the small ones especially when its on sets that would benefit from more names, Paul Kirby for example was a great find for me, and i'm hoping he's booked again so i can say hello and get a photo, wonder if the show-masters person whose monitoring this would list him for Doctor who this time around.

if anything we're only 3 hours away from the announcement at 7 and i have this weird feeling that it's gonna be the last big announcement, although thats probably having seen the post photo but we will more than likely get more than just that given last summer they had a huge variety of the big names, which makes me wonder why people complain about no big guests, when they had Dolph Lundgren and Chuck Norris.

that said i do hope alongside the big guest we get a load of other guests as well, IE Peter Davison is one i want most desperately on the medium side, as he would be placed on "Logopolis" and The Complete fourth Series

I don't think they are done with the 'big' guests, but their post photo implies that tonight is their other headliner. So hopefully they dont over promise and under deliver.

Hopefully, even if this guest is not someone we would be getting, there are other guest announced as well. But if it is their other headliner, they might choose to just announce them so the focus is on that announcement

But people still cant help themselves. I've seen a couple of 'makes a change from Doctor Who guest' comments. I've said it before, you are not forced to get autographs from every guest, And you can see a guest announcement without having to leave a snarky comment.

It depends, hopefully they have learnt from previous shows and have something in place, he will definatly have his own booth away from the main area, as will David Boreanaz

Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. But it looks like Cy Town has also passed away. An extensive list of credits as an extra, and mostly an operator of the Daleks

Okay so what i'm about to say isn't me being a OTT woke person but a genuine concern that i would like to raise surrounding the announcement of Rupert Grint.

Now let me preface this by saying none of this is directed at Grint himself as he has no part in this, but announcing a big Harry Potter star at this point in time was probably a bad idea, now i understand they're all actors and Grint has distanced himself from JK Rowling, but given the recent news about her it can be viewed as bad timing, especially given the years of blatant transphobia by her, and the more recent Holocaust denial by her, this is in my opinion a bad time given that an announcement is interpret-able as promotion to that series.

thats how i feel about it really, i know its a darker turn but i just feel that this can be viewed in many different lights given recent events.

No one can, theyre complaining about everything from price to location, a lot of people are excited but damn even a massive one who isn't doctor who is still complained about.

on the brighter side Boreanaz has been announced for Saturday as well so it means more chances for those who do want to meet him.
