nicky
I went to the Alien War in London in 1995. It was ok but pretty short at only about 20 mins (I think) and the actors were horribley unconvincing with their fake gruff American accents and over-acting. As far as I recall it was only one alien/marine at a time. I will never forget how the marine shamefully pretended that there was a facehugger in the room (by even checking under the furniture) and quickly and conveniently (so we wouldnt have to see it) escorted us out...as if they really had the budget and technology to contruct a fully-working facehugger which even the films never had. Oh and there was that part when one of our group was grabbed by an alien and taken away when we were in the elevator - I dont know if he was a plant but he sure enough looked a bit too scared by it all so it wouldnt surprise me if he was. OMG OMG OMG where is alien wars? It's at The Arches. There's a website www.alienwars.com. I think its £10 entry. yesindeed
yes it's in the arches, the original and best i read up a bit about it and they are saying they have updated it and improved it (i have no idea how that is possible) but i'm thinking there may be more than one type of alien involved so as i was originally stated, who's up for that and a few drinks at a local establishment

It seems that they couldn't get the license again back from Fox to use the USCM, Weyland-Yutani or the Giger alien designs - it'll be generic space creatures. If you look at the pics on the website the marines dont even look like USCM judging by the weapons so dont go in expecting this to be based upon the movies at all. :YAHOO: Edited December 2, 2008 by nicky
Showmasters Admin Too Tall Posted December 2, 2008 Showmasters Admin Share Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) It's never easy to organise a non official get together. I know I've tried. The best thing to do is choose a place and a start time. Say 7:30pm. Then be there until 9pm and then go to where ever from there. People will always turn up at different times. Giving them a big window of time to turn up will get you more people. The biggest issue you will have is people actually turning up and when they do knowing who you are. Something I did back at LFCC3 was I went to a pub and had a small flag on our table. Was only 12 inches high with SM on it. It just gave people something to look for. Some people just will NOT say hi to people they don't know if they are not 100% sure you're who they are looking for. Best one I've seen was a couple of helium balloons at a meeting for a mailing list I'm on. Somebody said they would be there from 6pm and would mark the table with a couple of helium balloons, which they tied to the table legs so that the balloons were floating at head height. And just in case the shyly nervously paranoid amongst us thought those balloons might be just a random other party, they wrote the mailing list name on the balloons. Worked for everyone.
