I got an e-mail saying there was to be a seminar which everyone was expected to attend on the 1st October! THis would mean that I couldn't make it on the Thursday and wouldn't arrive till Friday evening. I think I'm alright though, I asked for the time off a while ago. I'm keeping everything crossed.
