  1. Is this replacing the Showmasters one, or will it just be reporting the same items as it?
  2. I think that if you're going to meet a new friend, then it might depend on what level of ticket they have. If you have Gold and they don't, you probably won't get to sit together in talks and your schedules are likely to be WAY different. As for value for money, well I'd say that it depends on the guests. If there are any MASSIVE guests (such as David Tennant at the last one), then they become better value for money as you'll spend less of the day queuing!
  3. I think it's perfectly fair and reasonable to allow both queues in at the same time. The advantage is that the pre pay queue will move a LOT faster than the pay on the door queue (especially given entry is £12, meaning either people have the right money, or there is faffing about with change!) If you let in pre pay first, then maybe more people would pre pay, but that means that anyone arriving nearer 9 would be WAY WAY WAY further down the queue, even if they pre paid. Does anyone know which queue was longer at 9? I've been to events (mentioning no names), where all pre pay go in first, meaning that although I arrived just after 6 am and the door opened at 9, I didn't actually get in until after 10.30!
  4. No, it is the bank holiday weekend. Edit: Just dug out the info. There is a special bank holiday in 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The May bank holiday has been moved to Monday 4th June, and an extra Diamond Jubilee bank holiday will be on Tuesday 5th June. Thanks, I didn't know that! So...Jason... how about a 5 day event?
  5. Ahh... the dangers of copy/paste....
  6. Showmasters have run events in Manchester. They ran events with GREAT guests in Manchester (I remember getting autos from Nick Frost and Simon Pegg there) and yet the attendance was abysmmal. I ran a stall at one of the events and we made a big loss. The next Manc event, I went as an attendee. We turned up 20 minutes before it opened and were amongst the first 50 people into the hall. This other event may have had a 90 minute queue, but I know some events (mentioning no names or locations) where that could mean only 100 people were trying to get in and it says more for the organisation being rubbish, than the event being popular. Likewise, they ran an event Coventry. Bruce Campbell was amongst the guests and yet turnout was very poor (the stall lost money at that event too).
  7. Don't know their name, but they do attend most (if not all) SM events. (I have a canvas of a Stormtrooper, dancing to Singing in the Rain)
  8. Surely the bank holiday weekend, is the weekend before?
  9. I'm not sure if it was a massive typo, but the flyers given out today state that CM18 will be back at the Shopping Centre?
  10. Thats not a massive issue, Organisers Booth tends to be busy in the morning, less so in the afternoon. The Photo Collect is the opposite.
  11. I remember a few years ago, there used to be a comic mart (might even have been SM who ran it!) It was basically dealers, but there's no reason why it couldn't be expanded to include artists and writers.
  12. Brilliant post thanks, it's interesting to hear these stories to help show that it's just one of those unexpected, unavoidable things.
  13. A quick tip... instead of focussing on the huge queues and the epic number of VQ tickets given out for people like KG (which is very negative and does not sell the event brilliantly), it would be MASSIVELY more helpful if you instead periodically tweeted the VQ tickets that she was up to signing wise and perhaps her movements (By which I mean whether she's in autographs/talk/photo shoot/lunch/etc, not when she went to the bathroom!) Same applies to the other headline guests.
  14. Was that at Woughton Campus or Stantonbury Campus?
  15. I believe the first event was held at Woughton Campus in Milton Keynes in the early 90 (possibly even late 80s!)s. The first shows had no guests and were basically collectors fairs, filled with dealers.
  16. This would seem to make sense to me. Firstly it's getting over 1m viewers in the UK for every episode (which may not sound a lot, but it's massive for a subscription channel and is more than double the ratings of their next highest show!) Secondly, a LOT of the cast are UK based, meaning the costs for bringing the stars to the event would be less than for US shows. I think it would make sense to bring a couple of the stars to signing events first, to gauge the popularity, then book a full event (once filming has ended on Season 2).
  17. I would say there is no chance of this happening what so ever. They booked a Being Human convention, with about 9 or 10 guests and still only sold a handful of tickets. Seems the interest simply isn't there for it (or possibly, the stars of it do 'free' events via the BAFTA, which put people off paying for a full convention.
  18. As has been pointed out, the poll doesn't work (and the results will be hugely skewed!) I haven't voted, but I would happily pay £30 for Stan Lee and I'd consider it a bargain!
  19. GI Joe Renegades is a cartoon that you can find on You Tube (its actually really good)! Not sure Ray Park is in it (certainly not as the same character, given as Snake Eyes is mute!!)
  20. Thanks for the confirmation, will make sure Star Warriors gets appropriate mention To any mods, please feel free to lock this! :)
  21. Hey guys, you might want to have a look at your LFCC website. When I did a google.co.uk search under 'London Film and Comic Con', you weren't listed!!
  22. Thanks, Star Warriors rings a bell, I remember seeing stuff with an 'SW' (which I admit, I thought might be Star Wars!) logo on it.
  23. Darren Morfitt (from Dog Soldiers) wrote a quote from the film on my DVD cover saying 'To Chris, I hope I give you the sh1ts, Darren'....
  24. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could remember the name of the organisation that had the Star Wars cosplaying going on? I took a photo of the excellent Chewbacca costume and would like to credit the organisation.
  25. I ended up standing nearly* next to Simon Pegg in the gents at Gmex a few years back. I maintained the toilet ettiquette and didn't say anything to him, but when I came out and joked about it with my friends, one of them (a female) asked about the size of his manhood!!! To this day, she doesn't understand why I couldn't answer that!! *obviously toilet etiquette states that where possible, there must be a two urinal gap between occupants!
