  1. Great News for those who can make it!!.... ....Sean is a great guy, have met him twice before as well as all the other 'Hobbits'....Would've been better if he could have joined Billy at 'Return To Middle Earth' though.......Hope everyone who wants to see him gets to meet him though....He's usually VERY busy!!...
  2. WOWWWW!!!...At last!!!...Billy's back!...Have waited 7 years for this!... Way to go ShowMasters, you've restored my trust in you!...
  3. Wow!!...It's been a heck of a long while since I've been on the forum here...But it's also been a heck of a long while since we've seen any of the old guests from the LOTR's movies, and now that we have the 'Hobbit' coming along shortly it'd be nice to see such guests as Billy Boyd Dom Monaghan Jed Brophy Sala and Laurence JRD Andy Serkis etc etc....All of them wonderful guys, and would just about get everyone waiting for the 'Hobbit' in the mood again...at least 'til some newer guests from the 'Hobbit' will be available to attend Collectomania and LFACC events themselves anyway!!
  4. Hiya! Me too!....Although I go where "Beecake" go anyway!.....lol......you're in for a treat then!... Lotsa Huggles white_rider
  5. Hiya all Just thought you might like to see this review that Billy and "Beecake" received from their ORC appearances last month.....I've bunged in a couple of pics from the gigs they've done so far too!......Apart from a couple of covers.....ALL of "Beecakes" music and lyrics are written by Billy!........ Billy Boyd and Co. ready for rock stardom?...... Billy Boyd became a household name by virtue of his portrayal of Peregrin Took in Peter Jackon's cinematic immortalization of Tolkien's epic novel "The Fellowship of the Ring". By the time "The Return of the King" was released in theaters, Billy's fans were pleasantly surprised by his very moving vocal performance of "All Shall Fade". If that wasn't enough, fans learned that the melody was actually written by Billy himself. His natural comedic sense in combination with his keen sense of drama and musical gifts stood as evidence that there was more to this Hobbit than met the eye. Surely enough, Billy Boyd has a wealth of musical talent as a songwriter, a singer, and a guitarist. Currently, he is nurturing these gifts with his group cheekily called Beecake. Yes, that's Beecake as in "bumble" and not a misspelling of the word "beefcake". The group is not that pretentious. In fact, his four-man band of two guitars, bass and drums is anything but pretentious. In a special appearance at ORC 2007 in Burbank, CA on March 10, Billy came over with his three band mates from Scotland for a one-hour performance which included such titles as "I'm Sorry", "Friends and Lovers", "Get Myself Arrested", "All You Ever Wanted", "Lost Direction", "Lilac Wine", "Rip It Up", and several others. The music was an eclectic blend of Celtic flavors, funk, blues, and a strong influence by The Beatles, a group Billy says inspired him to start playing rock music many years ago having seen the film "A Hard Day's Night". Among the other artists cited as musical influences are The Who, The Rolling Stones, Dean Martin, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lou Reed, Crowded House, INXS, The Clash, U2, Japan, Yes, Paul Weller, The The, Ani Difranco, Black Crows, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper, Talking Heads, Beth Orton, The Skidz, Brian Wilson, Kings Of Convenience, Nina Simone, The Associates, The Police, Wilco, Joy Division, Aimee Mann, Adam and the Ants, Sex Pistols, Os Mutantes, Johnny Cash, and The Blue Nile. Their blending of musical style is not a mere rehash of predictable clichés which often pepper the airwaves in North America. This group has a unique sound which is at once refreshing to hear and quite approachable. Drummer John Crawford laid down one powerfully tasteful groove after the other which proved to be the essential backbone of this group's delivery as it should be with all good rock music. Bass and guitar lines were cleverly interwoven by Rick Martin and Billy Johnston, respectively. There was always something of genuine musical interest going on, whether subtle or full throttle. While all members contributed fine backing vocal skills to their performances, Billy Boyd was clearly the lead singer. At times he played strong chordal guitar rhythms while singing, but at other times he left the accompaniment to his band mates and simply sang his heart out. And did he ever sing! Boyd's voice is a powerful one, and to hear his performance with this group, one would not readily identify this voice as the same one that rendered the poignant "All Shall Fade". Sure, there were elements of the same sort of expression at times, but Billy offered so much more dynamic range. Often, his voice would soar into the stratosphere with a clarity and staying power that was both surprising and impressive. At times it was a gut-wrenching belt. At other times, it was almost operatic in quality. Yet, his dramatic sense of delivery and good taste afforded him moments of striking lyricism and depth of emotion. There were none of the amateurish mistakes in the performance that often plague inexperienced groups who naively perform publicly without enough rehearsal. Beecake is a polished band with many years of experience playing in the pubs of Scotland. Their performances have made into at least one film soundtrack, and the group made its BBC television debut "live" on a program called "Offside" in January of this year. Music is clearly a lifelong passion of Billy's, but his film fans can rest assured that his acting career is still in full swing. As the group played through their selections, I began to long for at least one song on which all four members could just jam without vocals; they were just that good. The set was a little on the short side as is their new CD, which contains only five songs. But it's hard to complain when this group leaves you wanting so much more. Let's hope that there will be more to come!! From the "Barfly" Gig.....Glasgow 26/01/07 From the "Hotel Cafe" Gig.....Hollywood Blvd 09/03/07 From the "ORC" Gig.... Burbank California 10/03/07 Lotsa Huggles white_rider.......
  6. Hell Yeah!...... .....I'd back Billy signing any day of the week, month or year!......As for him being too tired to sign the same day as he's playing at the party, when he did ORC in L.A last month, he did a Brunch with an auction, a photo session, and then a signing session all on the same day, and then went on to do the gig on the night-time!.....all with only an hour or so's break in between each one, so I don't think signing on the same day as the party would worry our Billy!.....He's a wonderful, kind man, a hard worker, and a real trooper!!!!!...contrary to what some people believe!..... Come on Showmasters get Billy now!......A lot of his Beecake fans are coming to Collectormania and most of them are not members of this forum!....They want to meet him!.... Two and a half years to have waited for him to come back have been too long!........Since C6 in 2004 he's done 3 ORC's and 2 ELF's, all in the States, and 1 LFACC in 2005 here, so why should the USA get all the luck!.....We want him here!...NOW!!!....
  7. Too right my son...... ......I've been hoping and praying that we get Billy and Beecake to a Showmasters event, It's been 18 months since Billy did anything at all in regards to signings in this country and 2 and a half years since Collectormania 6!......He's well overdue for another visit....I was holding out for Collectormania Glasgow or even another show UK, as are several of his UK fans from the Beecake MySpace page and other fansites....He and his band have brought in a whole new load of fans who have never had the opportunity to meet or get his autograph, and are desparate to do so!....At the Beecake gig in January, fans as far afield as Japan and the USA travelled all the way to Glasgow, to a tiny little club that holds only 300 people just to hear Billy and the guys perform for a little over an hour!....I myself, together with two of my best friends travelled all the way to L.A just over a couple of weeks ago, and had the privilege of seeing Beecake perform two nights in a row..Although he was there for ORC too, we were basically there just for the gigs!......a long way to go for a couple of hours of music......and that's called dedication!.... Lotsa Hugs white_rider......
  8. Hiya Elfstone Welcome to the Billy Boyd thread!....So glad you're enjoying the Beecake music!....Our Billy is a very talented man isn't he???....Have you checked out the vid clips too!....Apart from the upcoming L.A appearance, as it stands at the moment, Billy and Beecake have only done a few gigs and so far they've all been in Scotland!....We're not sure after that where the next ones will be yet!.....But you can be sure that as soon as I know I'll post it here!.... Lotsa Huggles (Billy ones) white_rider

  12. Hiya WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BILLY BOYD??? I really thought that it's about time this thread had an update, and as nobody seems to want to do it then I thought I would!... As most of Billy's fans already know, Billy has been busy in the last 12 months, with several projects!....One of the most important being that on 26th April 2006 he became a father for the first time when Baby Jack William entered the world weighing in at 6lbs 10ozs. After spending the following 6months getting to know his new son and having some spare time to fill he embarked on another of his projects, Song Writing!..... As many of you know already, before Billy became famous playing Peregrin Took in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and while he was still at Drama School, Billy and his friends formed a band called Foreign Country, When Billy left the RSDA and began his career as an actor the band was put on ice while he tried to get ahead in his new chosen career. But Billy never lost his love of music or of song writing!....So since the birth of Baby Jack he has spent the last year gathering his friends back together and reforming the Band that is now known as "Beecake" and writing several different songs for them to perform during their Gigs!.. For the last 2 or 3 months the band has been steadily growing a solid fan base by having their own pages on MySpace.com and with several small appearaces at different venues throughout Scotland. This has finally culminated in their own concert which took place last week on Friday 26th January in Glasgow!...and for which I was very grateful to attend!...The reaction to this has been very well received by press and fans alike and now "Beecake" have been invited to perform in Burbank California U.S.A in March. Billy has NOT given up acting to pursue a music career, he is still first and formost an actor, he still has movies to make this year, and this is just another string to the bow of a very talented man and something he wants to attempt because he feels that the time is right!. It is not just a hobby either, Billy is very serious about it. With more songs and appearances in the pipeline, more film roles and an album looming on the horizon within the next few months, his fans have a lot to look forward too in the future! You can find Billy and "Beecake" at their MySpace Here:- www.myspace.com/115089648 Come on all you Billy fans still out there, Why don't you come a give them a listen???...What have you got to lose???...
  13. This pic is from a scene that was supposedly set in the Glittering Caves, and was subseqentially cut from both of the Movies!...Eowyn is in the caves and is supposed to be protecting the women and children from the attack of the Uruk Hai. She is holding the sword because a small band of Uruks have reportedly broken through the doors and she is hiding from them around a corner and waiting for them to attack!...the reason her hands are bloody is because she has just supposedly helped to deliver a New Born Baby!....The scene never saw the light of day!!...
  14. Hi There Have just received my Email about this, and I have to say that it's Fantastic news!!...Was really disappointed when they announced the cancellation!!....Way to go Showmasters and Dirk, Go for it!!...
  15. No, He's done a couple of Gigs up in Glasgow and Stirling, and he did an appearance at 'T-In-The-Park' with the band in June or July, (for charity, didn't play on stage though (pity)) but not in Edinburgh so far!!... I agree with the CD idea though, It's time our Bills came back again!!!....Do you hear that Showmasters????..............BRING BACK BILLY BOYD!!!!.......Especially with another show UK and Collectormania Glasgow next year!!!...He only lives round the corner from SECC!!...wouldn't have to pay travelling expenses for him anyway!.....LOL.......
  16. 25. Hi There Thank you!....They drive me ruddy well mad at times though too!....I sometimes think I'll never get 'em finished!....But I just have a bit of a fit, then a sulk and carry on with 'em!....I love it really!...lol Billy loved it!....He couldn't stop stroking it!....He asked me who had made it and how long it had taken to do....When I told him that I had, and it had taken almost a year, he was totally gob-smacked!.... Then I told him that I was working on another one, but that this one was bigger, and he said that he hoped it wasn't going to be another year before he got to see that one as well!..... So I told him that it all depends on when he comes back to another show and that I'd see him there, and he said that he couldn't wait for that!!.....Hehehe!!!....Neither can I!!!... Lots of Huggles white_rider
