  1. A real shame she couldn't attend today, I'm told she really was determined to make it. Our thoughts are with her.
  2. Nothing given out today either - asked at sales desk and they said no cards were delivered, and they cant give out something they do not have. Maybe some communication should of been made on here instead?
  3. So so so quiet today, got there at 9.10am and walked straight in. Never have i ever seen so few lines, all day it was like 5.30pm at a quiet event!! This meant for quality time with guests who were grateful to have someone to speak too, a 20 minute guest chat was my personal best today!
  4. My friend was really upset he left at 3 today before she had chance to see him - she cannot make tomorrow.
  5. So quiet it was almost embarassing - but fun for those who turned up as all guests were able to spend time to chat and have desk photos (apart from dean cain)
  6. never thought i;d ever go to a event and go home with change from £100 but this will be a first. Chris Malcom sat 4 x Blakes 7 cast sunday and £50 for my bus fare home In fact - just remembered that i'm delivering autos to a friend from elsewhere, so will go home with more money than when i arrived!
  7. With so few guests this year it's perfect sense to only run two photo shoot areas compared with the 4 at London Film & Comic Con in July. This does mean that the times for photoshoots are potentially spread out for those who can only find 1 or 2 guests they are interested in photos with. But at least there is less 'photoshoot clash' issues this time round.
  8. It would be a worthwhile investment and make things so much easier. Hopefully they are looking at the whole credit card/ payment issue, pay pal is often used by alternative providers and in the event of a cancelation, I personally got an email from organiser & refund within 4 hours. Techonlogy is the way forward, and would save showmasters so much time.
  9. Probably 800 ish as first half photo session will pick up 0-400 ticket numbers.
  10. Although everyone is guaranteed to be 'sorted out' by bringing along order confirmations, the added hassle of waiting in line is really annoying. Why oh why dont showmasters catch up with other events (not just conventions) and use e-tickets and eliminate all the risk or non arriving tickets for late guest announcements, plus would cut out the postage fee for each order!
  11. First time for a long time at a showmasters event there isn't the need for a 'must do', 'try to do' spreadsheet, very light event this time round.
  12. With Matt Smith & Red Dwarf saturday only, based on the current guest list Sunday looks like it will be much quieter, so unless you want to meet a saturday only guest (and dont already have your ticket) then walking in on sunday shouldn't be an issue.
  13. From my experience of big events overseas, the way photo ops are handled for say 'Deep Space 9' guests is that they all enter the photo area together and the combinations are called out (i.e. single brooks, single nana, group all DS9, double brooks& lofton), this gives the actors breaks and keeps the lines moving. You would be surprised how fast this gets through the various combinations, of course they are not signing during this time but if the biggest cons in the world do this with no issues, then cant see how, the biggest con organiser in the UK cant as well. The above approach also allows us punters to pick & choose combos and remove the onus on the organisers to pick which shoots, i.e. if you want cirroc lofton & say nana for some reason, you just buy two single ops and they will let you do a duo shot. Some will say this could get messy, well never seen any issues at events much bigger than DSTL. May well be too late in the day to change for this event, but these requests for multi shoots should be taken seriously and not simply dismissed as 'not possible/too difficult' as a year ago that was being said about printing photos onsite and buying jpegs.
  14. Are you trying to imply it won't be David Duchovny? X-tremely unlikely
  15. Wish people would lower their expectations sometimes, many will be overjoyed, yet those into different fandoms will be disappointed. Lets see which side of the line we each end up this time....
  16. Unfortunately every signing event & convention organiser in the world suffers cancellations, its the way things are.
  17. Was on my maybe list - now with just two minor guests that I was getting autos from, I have to question whether to bother at all as cost of transport and entry is more than the 2 autographs I would get.
  18. One day I hope to meet John, shake his hand, look him in the eyes and say thank you.
  19. A WD con in UK got cancelled due to only 47 tickets being sold - which indicates that a signing event is more suited to this show. Met about 7 of the cast already and they are really friendly as long as you dont try to bite them.
  20. I did about the same in terms of autos & photo ops and didn't have a gold pass. Admittedly i did not go to any talks but thats because the venue is not suited to talks in terms of lighting, sound & a raised view for the audience - so no way would i consider paying for a talk under those conditions (they used to be free a few years back too). Gold is an option but effectively as autos and photo ops are not included why would i pay £150 or so I could go to talks via gold when they used to be free? Everyone is different I know, just my view is for the current line up (unless you want to loads of boxing/sport guests as well) gold wouldnt really give any added value in terms of getting what you want done.
  21. surely a mixture of both would work for those who think photo ops will sell out (and lets be realistic that only happens very occassionally for guests like Tennant & Gillan on their first appearances). As for the not queuing for early bit causing you to pay an extra £6, the schedules are never up before pre-sales are over and as everyone on this forum knows, quite a few photo ops get scheduled for before 11am anyway - forcing the exact same upgrade to early entry. My point is, seeing as guests were comparitavely so late to be booked for this event, add to that website issues for pre-orders and no doubt the fast approaching mailing cut off (espcially for over seas punters) this sort of alternative should be considered. In my opinion unless a very low limit is imposed on ticket numbers by an guests agent, i cannot see any of the current line up selling out of photo ops - selling along the line would ease congestion inside.
