  1. Can someone please confirm if the above is true? I'm thinking of going tomorrow specifically for Heather but if she's not signing on the Sunday and only doing photoshoots, I won't bother and will save myself a journey/the money. I don't want trek all the way into London without knowing for sure if possible. Thanks.
  2. William Shatner was announced as a guest on This Morning next week but they didn't say what day. I don't suppose anyone here has any idea? I want to be able to record it in case I'm not in. Anyone know what he might be over here promoting?
  3. Keeley was wonderful. I wasn't sure what to expect but she was amazing and meeting her is possibly my favourite guest/celebrity encounter I've ever had. I still can't get over what a sweetheart she was. Such class. You can't fake that. I met Jewel before at another SM show and she's also worthy of her reputation. Very sweet. Eve is also amazing. I met her at another event last year and she won everyone over; she's like a big ray of sunshine and so adorable and fun. They are the type of guests you come away from feeling really privileged to have met. They know how to make fans feel special.
  4. I'll be there, unless something major happens. I'm really happy to have another London-based event. It's makes everything so much easier.
  5. Yes, thank you everyone. I had a wonderful Saturday at LFCC. The staff I personally encountered were great. :)
  6. I only went on the Saturday and was done by 2pm, so this feedback is based on that day. Bad points: Not enough chairs. The Chill Zone was great for someone like me who is still quite young and perfectly bodily able but I was thinking about older people and people who are disabled/have health problems and I think more chairs would have been better. The LFCC is massive so it's not like there wouldn't be room for two or three proper seating areas as opposed to just the one. The Queues. Tom Baker's queue was a mess. There desperately needed to be more proper VQs put in place. I was quite shocked at how few there were. It created so much congestion around the main signing area. The Good: Lots more people this year than last year. A much nicer atmosphere (despite big names like Christopher Lloyd, last year was just flat), more younger people which brought an added buzz to the event, many more people in costumes.... Not under Showmasters control so I never complain when it's bad but the selection of food on offer to buy was much better this year. The vendors seem to have realised that not everyone wants vegetable in all their food and they leaned to much more traditional sandwiches fillings and gave people who aren't vegetable mad an option as well. It's a little thing but it still helped to make LFCC that much more comfortable. The queues outside before 9am were kept as organized as possible from what I could see. The staff I spoke to were all very helpful and appeared in good spirits. All the guests I met seemed genuinely relaxed and enjoying themselves. There was a lovely relaxing atmosphere despite the large numbers of attendees and the chaos of some of the queues. I don't know how it happened but it was really nice.
  7. I've never found that, but I'm an only child who had to get used to her own company from an early age, so I could be biased. But I like doing these events alone because I can take it at my own pace and do exactly what I want, when I want. I find going around with other people makes me feel quite bogged down and when I'm alone I always meet new people which I really like experiencing. But if you don't like doing things alone in general or aren't comfortable around strangers than I can appreciate it might not be so much fun.
  8. I couldn't attend Scott's talk either so I'd love to know what was discussed. Was it mainly Star Trek or did Quantum Leap get a good share of time too?
  9. Slightly early since the event is still going but for those of us who are finished for another year, who did you enjoy meeting the most? Had to be Keeley Hawes for me. She talked to everyone for ages (at least during the morning - I don't know if they would have tried to speed things up later) and I don't think I've ever felt so at ease with a guest. She was really lovely and chatty, gave you her complete attention and was so enthusiastic. A total joy to meet. That said everyone I met was so lovely and kind this year. The guests seemed to be really relaxed and into everything. It was great to see.
  10. Alexandra Moen - "love" Keeley Hawes - "all the best" Scott Bakula - "nice to meet you"
  11. I'm sorry about your nan - I hope for the best for you. Sorry you had to miss LFCC. Jewel has been over before though so hopefully she'll come back soon enough. She's lovely so I hope you do get to meet her one day.
  12. Poor you! I keep my autographs in my Mary Poppins style bottomless handbag because it has two seperate comparments, so my autographs can go in and be safe from getting squished by all the other junk in there.
  13. I felt ill enough to stay indoors earlier in the week but by Friday I felt considerably better. The symptoms were tiredness, achy joints, a choppy temperature where I either felt very hot or very cold and a sore throat. I had regular flu in March that left me in bed for six days, severly dehydrated and I lost about seven pounds in weight over the course of a week. Compared to that? Swine flu was almost a walk in the park.
  14. Maybe you should never leave your house again. I hope you've got a lot of food and a good stack of DVDs and books! Honestly, the worst thing about Swine Flu for me was the boredom aspect. I've had regular flu where I've been totally bedridden...the worst thing about swine flu is the media's obsessive fear mongering.
  15. Scott Bakula was asking people which pen they thought he should use and he was one of the busier guests. It's really nice when a guest takes such care, especially when they could just rush it through and not give a damn. I'm sure most guests would not mind if you asked them to use a specific coloured pen, if one is on hand.
  16. Thanks. I also doubt I was the only poorly person at the event - people in this very thread have said they've been unwell too so my attendence probably made no difference either way. Even when there is no swine flu there are always people wandering around with all sorts of things they could pass on to the rest of us...but we never seem too worried then. You are overreacting. People are spreading illness around every day (most of the time likely without even knowing it) whether something like "swine flu" is in the air or not. Imagine if everyone stayed in their homes...the world would come to a stand still.
  17. Tom Baker desperately needed a proper virtual queue, at least during the morning. His line got quite disorganized-looking and it was always very long the whole time I was there. He coped with it like a true pro but a decent queue would have only made the experience better.
  18. That was not very wise. You probably infected many of today's attendees, who will in turn infect people coming tomorrow if they are going on both days. If you're going to get flu, you're going to get flu. Short of barricading yourself in the house you can't prevent it. One slightly unwell person daring to venture into civalisation isn't going to cause the end of it. I probably did more damage to myself than anyone around me. Also, I cover my mouth when I sneeze/cough/yawn and wash my hands carefully...which is more than can be said for most people.
  19. I didn't really enjoy Collectormania either. If I'm honest, as great as it was to be able to meet Leonard Nimoy and others, I think it would have been better if SM had just waited until the venue was suitable before hosting another event after the loss of The Cetnre, because being in a cold and wet football stadium in the middle of nowhere really sucked the heart and soul out of the event. It made me really appreciate LFCC to the point where I didn't even mind paying the £10 entry fee, which I used to feel a bit bitter about. After the absolute misery of CM15, I'd rather pay a resonable entry fee if it means being somewhere warm and dry in a proper enclosed area.
  20. I had a wonderful day! I'm so glad I made myself go even though I really wasn't well enough and am feeling the effects now. It was more than worth it though. There was a much better atmosphere at this year's LFCC than last year (which was a bit flat despite some of the big names); there was a genuine buzz in the air which is always appreciated. I met Tom Baker, Alexandra Moen, Keeley Hawes and Scott Bakula. Everyone was so very lovely and warm and kind, giving as much time as was possible, shaking hands and making me come away with the impression that they genuinely liked being there and meeting everyone. It was a busy con and yet there was something really, really nice and relaxing about it. Of all the SM cons I've been too since 2006 I think LFCC 2009 will really stand out among fondest memories for some reason. I enjoyed meeting everyone but I thought Keeley Hawes was amazing. I've never felt so at ease with a guest and I think she would have talked to each individual all day long if she could. I had such a fantastic time nattering away about anything and everything and she made it feel really personal and special. It was a shock because I thought she'd be having to really rush through everyone but I don't think I've spend as long with any guests as I got to spend with Keeley. Lovely lady, I hope she comes back so more can meet her. Scott Bakula lived up to his repuation as a gentleman. He was very polite and charming and even though he was busy he made time for each individual, shaking hands and returning conversation. Very sweet guy. Tom Baker was great fun and Alexandra Moen was very smiley and enthusiastic. I thought Tom should have had a virtual Q though because his line looked rather manic most of the time. Fantastic day in all, very glad I went despite not being in the best of health...and it was a relief to be in a proper building after CM15. I appreciated the chill zone with the pillows - thanks SM.
  21. I was well enough to go for it in the end. I'm feeling the after effects now but I still had a great time so I'm really glad I was able to take the plunge after all. Exhausted now, though.
  22. He was still personalising when he came back from his photoshoot. He seemed to sign with relatively good speed but still made time for handshakes and brief conversation. :)
  23. I wish the flu could have come next week. It would *have* to strike in time for the *one* weekend in ages where I would have had something cool and fun to do.
  24. I've got Swine Flu and can't come to LFCC. I'm really gutted; I was looking so forward to it and I've been to the last three LFCCs in a row so it will feel strange to miss it this year. It's my favourite SM event too because it's so accessible. Is there anyone else unable to go this year because of health? I hope those who do go have a great time. Please post lots of detailed reports and pictures so I can live through you!
