I'm fine with paying a little more for a guest of Bill Shatner's calibre. Take into account that he's almost 80 years old and that there's a fair chance this could be his last convention over here, I think it's worth every penny. I'd be much more unhappy if I couldn't meet him at all because too many people whined about the matter of a few quid that they have MONTHS to save up for.

I don't think he does personalise, as a rule. He doesn't personalise signed copies of his book you can buy on his website, so I wouldn't expect personalised autographs at LFCC.

You can check your store account. Eventually the order status will switch to "Paid" there. But usually the charge shows up on the bank account first. Thanks! Thats exactly it. If people truely think that it is too much then they don't have to buy anything. Agreed. True, I would be bitterly disappointed if I couldn't afford to meet someone as legendary as Shatner, but I'd just be mature and deal with it. Some people seem to be saying that because they can't afford something, those of us who can should also be denied. Which is not only unfair, but very immature.

Don't you think that would happen even without a photoshoot? It's William Shatner, not famous for being fan friendly at the best of times, and on top of that he's going to be extraordinarily busy. To be honest I'm not sure why some are so upset. It's ten pounds more than most big name photoshoots, yes (and for a name like Shatner, not that much of a massive difference, in my opinion), but the event is still five months away. I know these times are horrid for us when it comes to money but there's still a lot of time to be able to save something up , I should think.

I'm just thrilled SM got Shatner at all. It has to be remembered that Showmasters is a business. Their primary focus has to be making money or they won't be able to keep putting on these events for us. And for SM to get a guest like Shatner in the first place is amazing for them and I'm sure will pay off. I've had to go without things during tough times but sometimes that's life. It isn't always fair, as much as that sucks.

The only time I have bought a gold pass was for the Hub 1 and apart from the drinks reception I didn't really feel a need for it in the end. At the CM and LFCC cons I've always managed to meet everyone, big names included, just by going early. For people who might not be able to arrive early for whatever reason the gold passes are good, but otherwise not REALLY essential. It's easy to meet the big names without them as long as you are well organized and have a lot of time to spare. I'm going to meet William and Katee at LFCC who I think will both be ridiculously busy, but I know as long as I get there plenty early enough it will be fine.

Did you read the first post by Showmasters in this thread? They explained the reasons for the chaos at MK and have assured people it will be better this time. That said, I'm still expecting any kind of meeting with Shatner to be blink and miss just because of how busy he's bound to be. I wouldn't be expecting any kind of chat apart from a brief hello, if lucky.

I've met John about half a dozen times between 2005 and 2009 and he's been as generous each time. He could have changed after Torchwood brought him much more fame but he's still a gentleman with his fans and makes every effort that he can. The last time I met him he actually recognised me from previous meetings, which is staggering considering how many people he meets all over the place. He makes the effort when possible but he's only human so he might have an "off" moment or two - which I think can be forgiven considering how hard he works. Whoever wrote that article just isn't in the real world and is seeing what they want to see for the purpose of a good story. Like most of tabloid hacks. Again, really not worth the time of day.

I imagine, without meaning to generalise, most people who read The Sun aren't people who would ever dream of attending conventions anyway (sneer at and mock them, though, yes), so I can't imagine any business will be lost or any harm done to SM because of one article in this pathetic rag. The Sun isn't worthy enough to line my cat's litter tray, let alone to be ever taken remotely seriously. Definitely nothing to lose sleep over.

I'm thrilled to hear Collectormania London will be back. I thought it was a fantastic show with a great atmosophere and London is very easy for me to get to, so I will be glad to support the event for as long as it's there. Thanks, Jason, for putting on these shows and providing a way for me to meet childhood heroes I never would have imagined meeting. I've been going to SM cons since 2006 and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. You guys are amazing at what you do.

I met George at MK a while back and he couldn't have been lovelier. He was so easy to talk to and genuinely interested in what people had to say and what they were bringing to him to sign. Just a total gentleman; one of those guests so nice I would love to meet him multipule times if only I could afford it.

Just wondering how other people found him to be at the weekend? I thought he was quiet, but polite. He greeted me and shook my hand which was more than I'd expected, as people on here have complained about his attitude before. He was very sweet to an awe-struck little boy in front of me, which was really nice to see. I was wary of meeting him because of what I'd read but I'm glad I did now, as he was fine. He seem very surprised when I praised him for Batman, rather than Star Wars. Am glad to have his autograph in my collection. :)

She deserves a thread of her own for being one of the loveliest guests I've ever met. I went specifically for her and she made the whole trip really worthwhile. She was so giving and kind and I'm really happy to have met her. Thanks so much for bringing her over, SM! :)

I didn't meet her but she looked lovely. She was always smiling whenever I happened to glance her way and I was shocked she had an open Q on Sunday morning. Thought she'd be much busier.

I spent £55 on early bird entry ticket, plus three autographs. A cheap event for me this time but I met everyone I wanted to, so I'm happy.

I was going to skip this show because of Christmas coming up, but I couldn't keep away and I'm really glad I went. I arrived just after 10am and there was a really calm atmosphere. Even with Barrowman there, it was nothing like the manicness I'd braced myself for. The queues were being kept under control and though it did get much busier once the standard entry people arrived it was still fine for me. I met everyone I wanted to within about an hour of getting there and the only mishap of the day was being told to wait in the wrong place for the Nightmare On Elm Street talk - luckily when I insisted I was only waiting there because I'd been told I could, they let me go in with the real queue and I still got a good seat. Otherwise it might have soured the day since it's one of the main reasons I went, but things turned out fine. The guests were great. Billy Dee Williams was quiet, but polite. He greeted me and seemed pleasantly surprised when I mentioned Batman (I think I was one of the few who wasn't seeing him for Star Wars), and shook my hand when I left. Montserrat Lombard was great; very enthusiastic and smiley and happy to chat. Heather Langenkamp was awesome. She was really attentive, asking me questions and asking if I wanted her to write any quotes (I went with "don't fall asleep") and just generally very kind and sweet. She also looks amazing. I can't believe she's 45 - she really doesn't look much different to her Elm St days. Pleased I dragged myself out in the cold. Even if I got rained on on the way home, it was worth it. Great show, guys! Really loved this venue too - more room to move around having things spread over a couple of floors - and much better lighting than Earls Court/Milton Keynes so it's a shame it's not permanent.

Heather is signing both days. I think Dickie did phrase it a little wrong... he wasn't happy that she not doing a photo shoot today and the only photo session is scheduled for tomorrow. Thanks, Queen Sindel! That clears things up a lot - I did think it would be exceptionally odd but it makes sense now. :)
