  1. He posed with the book he signed for me open in front of him for a photo. He didn't seem as if he would have turned you away had you asked for a posed photo at the desk.
  2. Agree, I thought running the two events in tandem worked very well. Sometimes there can be a bit of a lull during the day at events and I find myself killing time but I think from about 9.30 on Saturday when I got in to Autographica till about 5pm I was doing something the whole time. Yep. The two worked so well together. I really hope that CM midlands has a future running alongside Autographica.
  3. What a horrible little man.... His wife really could help him dress better as well - I mean, those Michael Jackson style ankle swingers really did not look very good!
  4. Christopher Plummer Max Von Sydow
  5. I'd happily meet musical guests across the three sub genres you list. I think we have Sports/Military/Astronautical/Film/TV so why not music guests? It is an area that seems really under represented when you consider how popular a medium it is. Pete Best did an Autographica once.
  6. I'd like to see more Music/Musicals guests. There's a real void in that respect where these events are concerned. I mean, how cool would it be to meet the likes of Ennio Morricone or Howard Shore. I've also suggested an Oliver reunion in the past - Ron Moody, Shani Wallace, Mark Lester I'd also love to see these guys Herbert Lom John Leyton (I know he's signed before)
  7. So it'll be held at Birmingham rather than Heathrow? Bonus!
  8. Have the dates been announced yet? I might have missed them, but I didn't notice any flyers for the event over the weekend. Also, can we have a forum set up so we can start guest suggestions please? Just to get things rolling with a few guest suggestions: I'll reiterate the often requested Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews... How about a few for starters, Jaime Sánchez - Angel from the Wild Bunch; Marc Antony in Julius Caesar; Rudy in Carlito's Way Bo Hopkins L.Q Jones Kris Kristofferson Richard Todd Also, more Lancaster bombers - and please, please, please do all you can to reuinte George Johnson with any of the remaining members of his crew - he mentioned Les Munro might be worth approaching and flying in from New Zealand! Thanks for a great show over this weekend!
  9. All I know is that Rooney was dead quiet all day on Saturday and he seemed a bit grumpy about it. He was trying to attract people by waving and shouting at them to come over, but there was no queue to form. I guess he was potentially wound up by having to watch people maintain a long queue from start to finish for both George Kennedy and Ernest Borgnine.
  10. Technically this is the wrong forum. Autographica made the news, not Collectormania...
  11. What a fantastic weekend! I met Ernest (two sigs and a photo shoot), George Kennedy, Ronald Homes, Ron Green, George Johnson, Angus Lennie and Kenny Baker. I also got Dave Prowse, Matthew Lewis and George Lazenby from Collectormania, which I thought was really handy having running alongside Autographica. I attended the Lancaster Bombers and the Bruce McCandless talks yesterday and both were really interesting. This was the first time I had attended any talks at an Autographica (first time as a Gold Pass holder) and I will definitely attend more in the future. I would have liked to attend more over this weekend, but photo shoot timings clashed. Ernest was a real star. I think I was one of the first people to meet him on Saturday and I had a brief chat with him about his role in The Wild Bunch and what it was like working with Sam Pekinpah and William Holden. I am so thankful to Dave and the SM team for making this happen. I think I was the first person to suggest Ernest on the forums (I checked before I submitted the request) so I am really, REALLY happy that I was able to meet this true Hollywood legend this weekend. Mickey Rooney was entertaining with his outbursts in the foyer and in the corridor outside our room. I think I may have bothered with him had he not had his wife with him and had he been £15. He really wasn't very busy over the weekend - certainly not when you consider that he has been billed as an "A-lister". Other comments have been made about his wife being in the photo shoots with him - seems odd as her IMDB profile doesn't really read that well. I'd be disappointed if I had paid for my photo with Mickey and had Jan "this room isn't available any longer" Rooney in it as well.... But, horses for courses - I'm justing making my personal observation in relation to all that... Really though, this was the best Autographica I've attended and I think having CM running next door really worked. I'm not sure whether the dealers had much trade or not - they didn't seem overly busy post 1pm when I went in - but then that could be down to the economic climate as much as anything else. I would really encourage SM to look into making this a regular fixture at the Birmingham event. It helped to prolongue the days!
  12. I've visited 5 and found all of them awkward to get to It's impossible to find a place in Manchester easier to get to than the Gmex centre. I wouldn't argue with that. I think any large venue - be it for sports or conferencing is usually easy to find though.
  13. No they aren't. Football Stadiums typically have very good public transport links and most have decent sized car parks either on the site or in the vicinity, which can be used on non matchdays for events of this kind. Trust me, I've visited 56 football stadiums in the UK and I've rarely had a problem getting to any of them.
  14. The Good Guys and the Bad Guys, Dirty Dozen, Cool Hand Luke or Naked Gun for George - can't decide!!!! I'll definitely by getting Wild Bunch image signed by Ernest, and may get another one or two signed by him from something like Marty and maybe the Dirty Dozen as well. What I'll probably end up doing is getting the Dirty Dozen DVD sleeve signed by both and then get one individual of each! I really am so undecided!!
  15. She always brings lots of nude photos with her from memory - which is never a bad thing of course...
  16. Yes he just LOVES keeping me on my toes!!!! You must have massive toes if you are too tall?
  17. Dave Prowse and Kenny Baker will always have a steady queue as well. I've got more items that I want both of them to sign, and if Prowse has any decent new Vader images then I might bother with another sig. I think the point I'm making here is that those are the sort of people who may have a steady queue into the afternoon. I reckon the Count is right on the Borgnine front, though maybe the likes of Rooney, Collins and Kennedy might hold some interest.
  18. Sorry to hear that. Get well soon George.
  19. More Star Wars guests please Preferably from ANH!!!
  20. I thought I paid £25 for Tony Curtis....and that was definitely on the Saturday. It certainly wasn't any more than £30, but I think it was £25 from memory....
  21. Last year for Autographica, it was a ticketed parking system I recall. You paid on leaving. You could pay on card as well. I think the "call for Valet parking" perhaps means to phone them in advance if you want Valet parking. Thanks luke No problem "Des".
  22. Would it be wrong to suggest confirmation is being held off in fear of losing a few attendees? What with the crunch and all, I'm sure most of us customers are thinking about attending based on the amount of people we want to meet being there. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but some clarity on this guest must be achievable a week from the event, surely???
