  1. The MK stadium is a great venue....bu I left today somewhat disappointed & wishing it was still at the city centre. Its was quite cold today around the stadium and with only a limited number of guests spread around felt a little empty. For those not familiar with the stadium it has a concourse that runs around the whole stadium, the stadium offices & conference facilities are on one side of the stadium. Guest were spread at various points aroung the stadium with the main dealer stalls in the main room of the conference area. The dealer room felt somewhat cramped even for a friday but there were plenty of stalls to look around. The guest looked chilled in the true sense and it was a little odd to see them wrapped in warm coats, gloves etc. I didn't take photo's today but the lighting didn't look very good to me as the bigger name guests were position towards the rear of the stands. Personally I would try not to have to eat in the stadium, they are using the standard concession facilities and pricing from the game days so the quality/cost are not the best. I will be down early on Saturday and see how I feel after a second visit.
  2. I here comments like this a lot from people who's only experience of Milton Keynes is a visit to the shopping centre! You need to stay a while to really appreciate how great it is - If you don't like it stay away! As for the shopping centre as a venue its great - free and you have lots of other things close by to entertain you while you wait for your VT number to come up. Dedicated venues don't offer this.

    My Day

Never had any problems getting to see the guests, understand the commments on the crowds but at any event I have been to its always an issue at sometime.
  4. Living in Milton Keynes I have the advantage of being able to attend every CM and have been able to meet many guest over the years. Grace was by far one of the best I have met, chatty and friendly - a pleasure to meet.
  5. There are often guests I would like to simply take a photo of rather than pay for the autograph. Access is limited and often from the back of the queues. How about the option to pay for the chance to take a photo of the guest, possibly posed. Could be incremental costs for these - have a special area for this perhaps? How about a photo record of the guests in attendance as a souvenir of each event.
  6. I am considering a gold pass for C9 - anyone who has purchased one in the past got any feedback - is it worth the cash? What are the goody bags like? Would you recommend? Any comment appreciated
  7. Whilst I think the point was correct no-one will ever listen to someone losing it & shouting at a guest no matter how they are treating you - childish really! I do feel strongly though that you should be able to make your point on a site like this - who replied... do me a favour, this is a very stupid comment to make "If you're dissatisfied - be so in silence!! If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all!" An please - I think the spelling mistake was supposed to be that way!
  8. Interesting to see the variety of comments, good & bad about guest signings. Living locally I have attended all the events in MK & have experienced the full spectrum of receptions when signing. Given the number of people who queue for autographs there are inevitably going to be good & bad for all the guests - it is the ones who are consistently one or the other that stand out. Our human nature is to remember the bad experiences first - they say it takes 4 good points to over come one bad - I still feel that overall the majority of guests are excellent & would urge anyone to highlight the good & not dwell on the bad.
  9. C8 was ok but I enjoyed C7 - better mix of guest that interested me, better talks (LOTR & Stargate) available. I did feel that this one was better organised - smoother run. Still like the venue.
  10. Just been to MK City Centre its Door 14 - Costa Coffee side. There was a notice on the door stating that they would admit at 8.00am - Which is it 8 or 9?
  11. Personally I found the crew I had contact with ok (the girl working on Jamie Bamber's Q fri was very good) got a little fed up of being told to 'move-up' while in the Q - especially when its obvious I couldn't go anywhere. One of the things I think that makes the show atmosphere so good is that there are genuine fans crewing but I strongly agree that under 18's should not crew. There needs to be a mix of ages and experience. How to the crew get picked anyway?
  12. I think Dean struggles with 'english' accents - but as you said a great guy
  13. Anyone tell me how you get to crew at these events, is there any opportunities for the more mature Sci-fi fan who still thinks he's 18???
  14. The cheapest SW guest was £15 - Yes, even the guys playing an alien - third from the left for two seconds !!
  15. Anyone got any tips on how to get autographs through the post. ie addresses etc.
  16. Best day to go was definately the Friday - I took a day off and spent a day mooching around, it was easy to see people and I often found they were mingling on breaks etc - Always found it a little weird to be sat in Costa having a coffee with Darth Vader. I still think the guests should make more of an effort - they know what they are in for when they sign up to do the gig (Nearly got in to my rant about how it was us fans that got them there in the first place - but its too early on a Sunday) better to sign a few less photos, have a few more breaks than be miserable all day.
  17. My number one spot is definately Carrie Fisher. A big disappointment, she may might as well have been given a stack of photos to sign & hand out for all the notice she took of me. I do appreciate that sitting there all day would take its toll but there really was no need to blank me quite so much - she was more interested in talking to 'Derek' who was sitting next to her. I would have been better off buying a signed photo from a collector - at least it would have been recognisable as hers - mine looked like an accident. Quality NOT quantity should be the order of the day, never would I suggest she was here just for the cash. At around 5.00pm she was signing close to No 900 @ £25 thats a cool £22500. Carrie next time give your fans just a few seconds to say hello.
  18. Anyone know what ticket number she is upto as of 2:30pm ? My number is 613 & I want to estimate a good time to come back. What time is she likely to stay till?
  19. Just spend the last two hours walking around CM6. Going well with the usual friendly atmosphere. Queues for atopgraphs are reasonable at the moment. Felt quite sorry for Walter Koenig who didn't sem to have anyone wanting his. Must be an age thing cus the Buffy guests where the busiest.
