  1. Comic quicksilver, xmen film quicksilver or avengers film quicksilver? :) Oh gosh, that's the big question isn't it?! I'm actually halfway through making all three!!! So I guess whichever I finish first! The easiest to finish will be comic quicksilver, but it's also the only one I can't style my hair into :s
  2. *shows up 7 months late with starbucks* I'll most likely be going as Quicksilver
  3. Elizabeth Olsen and Gemma Arterton are both 2s...
  4. It's wishful thinking but Gemma Arterton? It would tie in with the witch thing, since she was in Hansel & Gretel with Jeremy and Famke. But I don't know if she's ever signed before. I live in hope
  5. Although overall I did enjoy the weekend, I have to say that personally I was very disappointed. The queue to get in was horrendous. I understand that a lot of tickets were sold, so a long queue was expected, but I've never seen a queue move so slowly. I could see the doors from where I was, and although at half nine they got more crew and more doors open, in the first half hour it was poorly manned, and frequently the queue stopped completely while the crew on the door had a conversation/argument/discussion with the attendees they were admitting. Also when we arrived we asked which queue was the prepaid, and got sent to the wrong place THREE TIMES. In the end, we went to the door (and the only signage we could find) and followed the queue backwards until we got to the end. By that time, the queue was twice as long!! By far the biggest problem of the weekend was getting back in after we went outside for fresh air (and in my case to get my nicotine fix). I know they stopped selling tickets, and were letting people in as other people left, but when we left, WE WERE NOT TOLD that we wouldn't be able to get back in. This meant that I missed a photoshoot that I had ALREADY PAID FOR. Luckily, the next day I explained to the crew at the shoot, and they were very gracious, admitted they'd had problems the previous day, and let me use my ticket on the Sunday instead. Speaking of crew... I understand that most are volunteers, and they are only human, but they were rather uninformed. We had to ask six or seven people where the book zone was before we found someone who knew. Most of them were very apologetic, and handled the situation well, however over the weekend we encountered some crew who were incredibly rude to us. I know they were under stress, but all we asked any of them was for directions, not unreasonable in my opinion. I saw one crew member who was asked (very politely) if she could help a man. She was disgustingly rude to him, she didn't even listen to what his question was, snapped that she wasn't working this area, and then stormed off without so much as a 'sorry'. Whether she was being paid or not, this behaviour is not acceptable. Frankly, most of the problems were caused by having too many people in too small a space - it was very hot, and there was not enough access to water. The queues for the food halls were so long, perhaps there should be more stands set up around the centre just selling drinks? I'm surprised that people weren't passing out in that heat! Also the high concentration of people around the stalls and signing areas made it impossible to escape. It took us over half an hour just to get out when we wanted to go home. Stuck in the middle of that crowd, I had the horrible realisation that if there had been an emergency (a fire, maybe), I wouldn't have been able to get out - in fact, the resulting stampede of people trying to get out the building would probably have caused some very serious injuries. A bigger venue next year, please?
  6. I'll get as many photos and autos as money will allow, so sometimes that means being very picky and having to really consider who I want, and sometimes it means getting anyone I've even vaguely heard of. It depends who is there and how much money I have!! That said, even if I have very little money, and there's no one I really want to meet, I'll still go for the cosplaying!!
  7. I cannot say this enough: Jamie Campbell Bower (The Mortal Instruments, Camelot) and Toby Regbo (Reign) They were also Young Gellert Grindelwald and Young Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter. Who could pass up a double photo shoot?!
  8. Yes!! Literally the nicest guy ever. Got an auto and photo last time, but I might get another photo, since at the last one he made sure to embarrass me so much that I was as red as a tomato in my pic!!!
  9. Ok there was a cosplayer who got a picture with me and my friend in our Captain America dresses, and I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE COSPLAY WAS!! I'm pretty sure it was like a video game cos, I'd hazard a guess at assassin's creed or something similar (I don't know video games I'm sorry!!) It was a really impressive cosplay, and had a black hood with red lining. I'm sure lots of people stopped you for photos! Anyway, if you're on the forum, I'd love to see the photo!
  10. Blimey, talk about planning ahead! I still haven't finished my costume for the Summer LFCC!!!! There are so many I want to do though.
  11. There was a flyer but it didn't have specific dates it just said "coming this November" or something like that. My advice would be not to plan anything for November/end of October until the dates are announced! I already can't wait!!!
  12. JONATHAN STROUD RUINED MY TEENAGE YEARS AND MY LIFE. I cannot wait to meet him! Does anyone know how much his autograph will be??
  13. There was a photographer handing out cards on Saturday at the Doctor Who cosplay shoot, but he ran out. If anyone got a card, can you link me to his website? I really want to see the pics! Thanks!!
  14. Heading off straight after work tomorrow. Tried to put together a quick costume tonight, didn't really happen. Might see if I can get something presentable put together in the hotel on Saturday night for Sunday. Might go and pack one of my old cosplays for Saturday. All in all, I'm totally organised and probably should have made my costumes months ago. Ah well, I'll do better for LFCC.
  15. @naurarwen_fangorn, aaaaah Thor gown? based off the avengers gown drawings you showed me? I did some shopping today, and I have some stuff that I was going to use to try and throw together a Captain America: The Winter Soldier outfit. So if I get it done in time I'll make sure I wear it on the Sunday and come find you for a photo!! I've got a tardis outfit I might re-use for the Saturday but it needs a few repairs first. I can't wait to see your Tris cosplay, I loved the books!
  16. Well, I might not be in costume this year - again! I really should've planned ahead. I'll go into town tomorrow and look round the fabric shop. Maybe I'll be able to get a costume done in time. Oops. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's cosplays though, last time I was at MK, there were some great ones!
  17. OH HELL THIS IS ONE WEEK AWAY!!! Maybe it might be time to start working on a costume.....
  18. Last year, I went to spoons on the Friday night, there were loads of con people there. On the Saturday night I was at the Hilton, so we had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant. This year we're staying at the Premier Inn, so I'd love a meet up in one of the bars or pubs locally. If it's a cosplay-friendly meetup that would be even better!
  19. Fantastic!! I did meet her at MK, but I looked terrible in my photo, so I'll probably get another one. It's nice to have her a bit closer to home too - MK is a fair journey for us southerners, and a lot of my friends are dying to meet her! (also I agree with davidb - if you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all) Really starting to look forward to lfcc now, the guest list is shaping up to be a great one!
  20. Awesome guest! Last time (lfcc maybe??) he wasn't doing personalisations by the time my number was called, so I'm seriously considering a photo shoot. I will still get an autograph too though, got a programme I would love signed!!
  21. I actually LIKED the set up with the bar. The bar upstairs was so tiny, it took ages to get served and everyone stood around it after they had their drinks, so it was very overcrowded -not a pleasant environment! This year I had no problems, the bar staff were quick, and very polite. There was never a queue at the bar, and it was a lovely place to sit and relax for a bit. I do understand that it would be a challenge for those with mobility issues, however, since you'd have to use the elevators, which were quite slow. If the hotel does decide it would be profitable to open the upstairs bar next year, that would be great, but I'll probably still walk downstairs for my drinks!!
  22. Imma have to say: NEIL JACKSON! I'll keep asking until we get him. For those who don't know, he was Khalek in 'Prototype' in SG1, and the wraith in 'Vegas' in Atlantis.
  23. Fantastic!!!! I got a pic of Natalie and Finn for him to sign last year, but then I had to cancel on the sunday so I missed him. When Natalie was announced this year I was gutted because I realised I could've had them both sign it. This announcement has literally just made my year!!!

    Feedback...

Kris - I didn't realise two different people had saved the seats, my bad! I saw the women in the seats before the first talk, and just assumed that meant that was their seat. I thought you had to go claim your seat before the first talk and then that was your seat for the afternoon. I left my photos on the seat while I was away, so I didn't have any trouble. I guess it's a lesson to always bring something to put on your seat! I didn't take a camera with me, so I'd love to buy any pictures of us at the parties, I'll keep an eye out for the link!! Thanks for the info! Movielad - personally I wouldn't bring a baby into the talks with me, but I guess the problem is that you can't exactly leave your kid in the room with your luggage!! It'd be ideal if you could afford to bring a babysitter along with you, but alas, who has that sort of money? A little annoying, but unavoidable. The guest encounters were good fun, I got priced out of some of the ones I really wanted, but managed to get a few. Personally, I wouldn't pay a huge amount of money for them because I've experienced some GEs where one attendee has commandeered the whole conversation and generally made everyone very bored. Some guests are very good at steering the conversation back to the group, some are too worried about hurting someone's feelings to interrupt. That said, no matter what, the guests are always very friendly, and happy to share stories and words of wisdom, and I have to say that Alex and Robert stood out for me this year, because they were genuinely interested in the attendees, asking lots of questions about us, and Alex especially had the brilliant ability to keep the conversation on us, and actually help the attendees get to know each other! He also made an effort to remember all our names and say hi to us later, which is definitely above and beyond what we expect from guests.
