There seems to be a lot of negativity about this event which isn't helping anybody.  It's starting to take shape slowly and hopefully it will be good.  The trouble is that those of you who can get to empire days and every collectormania are spoilt with the guests you can get.  For those of us from abit further afield with families to support it isn't always practical - (I hope you're reading this Jason and adding SW guests to collectormania manchester).

It's a shame there aren't some high proifle guests and it's a shame that Jason isn't getting them as he seems to have access to so many more.

However I'm still going - it's for the whole experience not just autographs.

Jason are you still going??

Just a pointer if you haven't got Dave Prowses auto then I recommend you make it quite soon.  I was talking to a friend of his yesterday and his hips are getting worse and he's in constant pain so may not do many more appearances.  Also nobodies seen Kenny Baker for a few weeks as he's quite ill too.

  :D  :YAHOO:  :WINCE:

That makes me laugh, what is taken shape, with less than five weeks to go, what do we really now about the event, 20 guests and one guest speaker, which has alot to be desired about.

ps I almost forget a free 30th coin and two special figures......

I think we can safely say that if SM were involved in the organisation of this we'd have had far greater detail of what would be happening at the show with around 4 weeks to go.

They used the excuse of the US event as being the reason for not announcing anything too early, but that is 3 weeks passed now and surely we, the paying fans who are attending this event, have a right to know what to expect.

I do agree that the guests should be just part of a great weekend long experience, but right now I - sadly - evnisage this as being a bit of an expensive let down.  The only lucky thing about that is the fact that it's being held in London, so if it is disappointing there are plenty of other things to do around and about.

I'm hoping that the communication will improve, but then I have signed up for the mailing list twice and not received any updates while some friends have!  Don't know what's wrong with my email address in that respect!!

Fingers crossed for some good news on this in the coming days and weeks.
Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them....

I should add that the one thing that really worries me relating to the price of guests is that if Prowse is the same as Williams then is Prowse being considered as a main guest by the organisers, so to speak?  Is Prowse the best we are going to get?  No disrespect to him, but he is a regular at a lot of shows, whereas the likes of BDW are not.  So, to charge £25 for BDW is just about fair in my opinion, but we'll all be paying over the odds for the likes of Prowse, Bulloch and Park if we choose to meet them there!
Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them....

I guess it's down to whatever guests Coolwaters (Malki) can get their hands on.

I better not say anymore about the event as like Jason said, we can't talk about it. Plus i think i want to forget about it anyway :YAHOO:

Sorry everyone I'm just trying to stay positive because of all of the money I've paid out already!!

That's good to hear I have enjoyed meeting them  both on many occasions and Kenny lives nearby so have seen him a few times out and about (normally pranging his car at the shopping centre carpark!).  It's a shame that you are not involved in CE anymore but maybe you could get the license for the next one??!!

I would still like some rare SW guests at the next manchester show especially as I've paid out for this event already as my annual trip to London (LFCC last year and year before) so cannot afford to come down in september as well!

Seems like LFCC is going to be the place for star wars guests in the near future. I am more excited about the star wars guests at LFCC than i was with the ones at the Excel event

I'm just glad I spent my money on the Star Wars guests at CM rather than saving up for a disappointment. If Showmasters can get Shannon McRandle to appear at LFACC then I'll have no reason to go elsewhere!

Both Kenny and Dave were at Celebration IV. Whilst Kenny did appear quite ill, but did complete his full set for signing. As for Dave (who happens to be a good friend of ours), he was in great spirits and said he was 'very well' when we last spoke to him in LA.

I also agree that it is a shame that Jason is no longer involved in Celebration Europe - I know how much it means to him, and I can't help thinking that it's their loss (the CE organisers). Here's hoping for some great guests at the LFCC.

let's not write celebration europe off just yet, please.
and it doesn't matter who's behind organising it,does it? or maybe it does,to some individuals...
it's a star wars event,an official event, the first of its kind in the uk.
let's get behind it,not as lucasfilm-lackey wannabes,or as showmasters acolytes... and not as autograph mercenaries.
as STAR WARS fans.
if you really don't want to come, then fine.
but stop your whining.
and let us enjoy ourselves...

Don't you think we have a right to air our concerns considering what we've spent/will be spending on this event?

Also, I think most people wouldn't be doing it here (the whinging) if Celebration Europe had its own forum - but it doesn't.

Finally, I have no real loyalty to Showmasters, but having attended a lot of events organised by different companies/people I can honestly say that their organisation, communication and obvious dedication is second to none.  Showmasters are also happy to take criticism where it is due and encourage feedback from their customers, which is why I believe they are the company that give us what we want.  They respect their custom base and deliver well organised shows.

And you only have to look at the quality of guests and the number of first timers these guys (SM) manage to attract in comparison to other events as an example of their expertise and commitment.
Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them....

Yes, it seems like another American company coming to the UK and attempting to fleece the flans. I'd rather go to a Showmasters event where I know what I'll be getting for my money.

I guess that's the problem really - the amount of money that's been spent out and not much been confirmed.  At most shows you tend to know a long time in advance who the guests are so can plan accordingly, not so with this event.

However as mentioned this isn't an autograph show and many fan groups who are having stalls / stands seem very excited about it so maybe we don't know half of what's going on.  There is also the fact that Lucasfilm are pulling the strings and they aren't going to let the event fall on it's ar$e.  Maybe there are some fantastic guests who cannot be confirmed until last minute?  There are rumours about the man himself and a certain Mr Ford turning up as they'll be filming Indy 4 in London at the same time.

Also I for one am well impressed with the program cover  which will be available as a poster so could provide that elusive all emcompassing poster to get sigs on.

I'm staying positive and looking forward to it and if it's putting people off then good - means less queueing for me!!

There is also much to do outside of the event - the exhibition and the concert on the riverside.

Darren

Showmasters could try and get the event next time round. As far as i am aware Cards Inc will not be able to do the next one becuase they are a part of Master Replicas and Master Replicas starting next year will no longer be doing products for Lucasfilm as it seems the 2 parties have fallen out.

Hope Showmasters can bag the show next time and really give us the BIGGEST gathering of star wars guests ever
