Count Fooku
People tend to get a bit funny being filmed in the toilets as I found out to my cost last year. Nasty business that.
Queen_Sindel
Are you planning to bring bigger equipment or what's the reason you are wondering if you have to be with a company? Talks filming is not allowed. Otherwise ask for permission first as you already said.
OverGeek
No you don't need to be part of any company or official and you don't actually need permission. Anyone that attends the event gives automatic consent to any and all photography and or video footage they may feature in during the course of the event. Everyone is encouraged to take pictures / video, it's always great to see the conversation through other peoples eyes.
OverGeek
Just to add to my previous comment, it is obviously still nice to ask anyone if your taking photos / videos of them in particular (cosplayers, guests, that hot girl you just spotted, etc)
