Valkyrie
The Cosplay Zone 2012 is back! If you have any Cosplay Related questions then feel free to read our little post and if that doesn't help, let us know with a comment below! * * * The word cosplay comes from mixing 'costume' and 'play'. It basically means the hobby of making and wearing costumes of your favourite characters from films, anime, books or video games. Cosplay is all about bringing characters to life, so many cosplayers also try their best to look or act like the character. Bigger and Better than Ever! The Cosplay Zone is back bigger and better than ever! Not only do we have the masquerade on each day with a massive £100 prize to each winner, but we also have a series of cosplay talks and presentations on stage and displays! If that was not enough there's the Talent Show, themed cosplay days, a chillout area for meets, lots of sweets, cosplays and much more! Cosplay Masquerade (Saturday & Sunday 3pm) The Masquerade is taking place on Saturday and Sunday at 3.00pm on the second stage. There is a £100 first prize to the winner of this highly anticipated event! This is the event where you can show off your costume to the public and compete to win some great prizes! All types of costume are welcome, including anime and manga, film and TV, video games, comic book characters, original costumes and others. More details on how to register can be found at the bottom of this topic! If you do register be sure to Check-In by the Cosplay Desk at least 30 min before the event so we can put you into a lovely little line, ready for the stage. All entries who have constructed their outfits themselves and wishes to be eligible for the Big £100 prize need to show by the Cosplay Desk at 2pm on respectively Saturday and Sunday to be judged by our judges! The Talent Show (Saturday 5pm) If you can sing, dance, do a skit, do stand-up, magic tricks or any other talent you may have (within reason, it's a family show and only a small stage) the this is just for you! The judges will be making notes of your performance and by the end we will collect notes and points from all Judges to find the winner! Acts should last no longer than three minutes and if you want to use any music, please send it in advance! You can find the form at the bottom of this topic! How To Signup for the Masquerade, Skit-Show & Talent Show You can register via email until 2 days prior to the show (registrations close midnight on the Thursday prior!) and on the day of the event, between 10am and 2pm at the Cosplay Desk. Entries will NOT be accepted without reference picture (with the exception of Original creations). Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so please book or arrive early to avoid disappointment! Cosplay Talks Cosplay Guests Tab Kimpton and Kelly Jane shall be hosting a range of cosplay talks and workshops throughout Saturday and Sunday! Be sure to come along if you would like to know more about cosplaying from the Experts in the field! Cosplay Chillout & Groups Come take a seat, chill-out and get to know fellow cosplayers. As always, we will have supplies in case you have to make any last-minute alterations or repairs to your costume. Whether you will need tape, thread, glue, safety pins - we've got it all! Facilities for Cosplayers 2 Changing rooms will be available for Cosplayers if you need to change into your outfit mid-day or before the Masquerade. The Cosplay Zone is not available to provide cloakrooms or storing facilities, but the Olympia venue will be providing this for a small fee by the entrance. (if in doubt as a member of staff on the day) Please also see our thread for Prop Rules and further Cosplay Event Information here: http://showmasterson...showtopic=76254 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cosplay Masquerade Form --> https://docs.google....dyJrFoG2ptM2xUA Talent Show Form --> https://docs.google....6eKgxqGV8yeY3c0 Please send your forms to showmasterscosplay@googlemail.com by Midnight on Thursday 5th July the latest! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Looking forward to seeing you at this year's LFCC! - Lise x Cosplay Zone Crew Edited June 10, 2012 by BlueEyedValkyrie

Kuato_Lives
How does the Cosplay Masquerade work? Can you request that specific music be played during your stint on stage?
elrond_peredhel
All the cosplay info is still telling us changing facilities are in Earls Court. I for one am not changing there to travel to the Olympia! Updated changing info please people!
Kuato_Lives
It would be funny if someone requests Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus as music and cosplays as Buffalo Bill from Silence of The Lambs.
FreeSaiyan
]COSPLAY GROUP PHOTOSHOOTS - WE WANT TO INVOLVE YOU MORE! BIG PRIZE![/u] We Want to Involve You More! Following the massive-popularity of the impromptu Doctor-Who photoshoot at last October's Entertainment Media Show, we can confirm that the 2nd stage between the times of 4pm to 5pm on both days (just after the Masquerade) shall be given over for Cosplay Group Photoshoots on stage. Groups are expected to be a reasonably large number of people on stage following a similiar theme (ie: from a specific show, style etc, it can be wide-ranging). If you are considering organising a group then you can book a 20-minute slot by emailing cosplay@animeleague.com ! On Sunday we shall announce the Best Group based on how much entertainment they gave the watching crowd and the overall quality of the costumes. This group will win £150 to split between it's participants! Even more reason to get your cosplay on! How does the Cosplay Masquerade work? Can you request that specific music be played during your stint on stage? I for one am not changing there to travel to the Olympia! Updated changing info please people! Apologies for the mistake, the post has been updated now. My brain is still running on Earls Court as it once were. I just want to go to the LFCC in my SGC Marine uniform, do I need to sign up or anything or is it ok to just turn up in it. I dont really care about showing off my uniform that much. If I do need to sign up I dont mind, I just dont want to go on stage in front of god knows how many people. I just replied to your email. You of course don't have to be a part of the Masquerade, it's simply something a lot of us enjoy. You can cosplay/dress up as much as you like! Gah my computer won't let me access the forms. Anybody help? Send us an email and we will forward you the form there instead! :) Lise x

You don't need to register to just come to the event in costume. However, if you tell people about your costume in the general cosplay thread, you might find people to meet up with there :)

elrond_peredhel
Would i be right in assuming we just turn up for the group photo shoots and don't need to sign up etc beforehand?
Vamp_Rouge
As far as I'm aware you just turn up. I've put myself forward to organise the comics one and the way I see it I'm just promoting it so everyone knows it's happening and then people who want to be in it or take photos know they have to be there at the right time. I've created a facebook group for it but it's not an offical sign up so much as an informational thing.
elrond_peredhel
Awesome. I'm hoping to get in on the Doctor Who/Torchwood one as Capt. Jack Harkness on the Saturday. :) When/where do we find out which stage the photos are using? Edited June 25, 2012 by WhovianRingerTrekkie
laurab1
Awesome. I'm hoping to get in on the Doctor Who/Torchwood one as Capt. All the cosplay stuff is on the 2nd stage: http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76271 Yes, just turn up. The Whovian cosplayers are an established group, so the shoots will be well organised :) If you don't already know anyone, you soon will!

Vamp_Rouge
I've got a silly little question about the masquerade. After LFCC last year there was a topic in the forums asking for feedback on how it was run. One of the things that was mentioned was that people's music for their masquerade bits was only started once they stepped on the stage whereas we entered from the side (and at a previous showmasters con, the back) so you tend to use your walking time in character too and it's nice to have the music start as soon as your name is called so that you kind of have an "entrance" while you get on stage. Basically, I'm planning my music and would love to know if it's going to be played right away or only when we hit the stage and last year I had music that started quiet and built but it didn't even get to build last time as it started later than anticipated. :-)
