  1. We're pleased to add our 4th member to our cosplay line up - Shonarrrrgh Cosplay Shonarrrrgh is a local cosplayer based in the middle of nowhere but travels to conventions all over the island, mostly being in belfast and Dublin Relatively new and rapidly rising in the scene, every cosplay is an adventure in unknown territory learning as she goes and making every cosplay a challenge. She mostly cosplays characters she finds inspiring and wishes she could be more like from anime and games, but the occasional just for a laugh cosplay appears too. Cosplay has opened so many doors for Shonarrrrgh and she is using it as a way to further improve her skills and to conquer her fears and anxieties. She has found that through cosplay she has met so many wonderful people and with being in costume is finding it easier to socialise and is currently trying to overcome stage fright. If you wish to check out more of what she does you can find her here www.Facebook.com/shonarrrrrghcosplay where she posts updates on what she's working on and how she makes everything. if you have any queries she's happy to chat.

  4. Animeleague is pleased to reveal the lineup of Cosplay Stars for Cardiff Film & Comic Con. Andy Valentine Cosplay Andy Valentine (Valentine Cosplay) is a cosplayer and prop maker based out of Bristol in the UK. With a deep and long-term love of gaming, Andy favours cosplaying video game characters, and most enjoys the darker and twisted villains of various gaming genres. If it involves mud, blood and scars, he's all over it. Professionally, he spends his days making replica props and bringing weapons and costumes from the screen to life. He has a constantly painty, resiny odour, and if something in the house isn't covered in paint, it's probably covered in cat hair. Anna-S Anna is a London based cosplayer with a keen interest in sewing. She started off cosplaying superheroes and mastering spandex but has since moved on to film, TV and video games. She has also competed in competitions like ECG. Anna could quite happily make costumes for herself and others but never wear them as its the making process she loves most, not the actual wearing of them. Ever time she makes something new she tries to incorporate a new skill or technique no matter how easy or difficult it might be, but her main love will always be sewing spandex. Facebook: Anna S (https://www.facebook.com/AnnaKS100) Instagram: AnnaS100 (http://instagram.com/annas100) Lisa-Marie Lisa has been attending conventions for 5 years, and cosplaying for 3. After admiring the brilliant costumes she saw at the events, she had to try it out herself and has been hooked ever since. Lisa loves the simple fact that through cosplay she can become all of her favourite fictional characters, if just for the day. LFCC in 2010 was in fact her first convention in cosplay, so an anniversary of sorts. She has made around 30 costumes in 3 years, and her collection keeps growing. She has cosplayed all sorts of characters from Lara Croft and Amy Pond to Disney Princesses and Comic Book heroines learning different techniques and using new materials as she goes. Lisa is delighted to be appearing at Cardiff as a cosplay star guest. https://www.facebook.com/LisaMarieCosplay DizzieDee Cosplay Dizzy is a Welsh Cosplayer, cosplaying for 4 years, inspired by her love of video games, comic books and cartoons. I'll be holding an updated panel on 'cosplay for beginners', since I've ran a lot of workshops for kids and teenagers on how to get into the hobby (including for the Barbican museum, Bexley Gov. for their Anime and Manga society, GEEK and several comic stores). I'll also be judging the masquerade sometime on the weekend (I've judged for the Japanese arts festival, GEEK, HYPER JAPAN and a bunch I'm probably forgetting!). I'll be hanging around the Cosplay Zone so please feel free to come on by and chat to me about Cosplay. I’m an aspiring illustrator and model who also likes to play dress up; or as I like to say "I am latex clad superhero". Most people do tend to know me for being the cosplayer all covered in latex. So here is a little bit more about me... I am a penchant for comic books sci-fi, gaming, and have a "small" obsession with a character known as Harley Quinn (though most people knew that already). 15. If you're looking for the Normal Saturday & Sunday Cosplay Masqueradess or Talent Show, please go to this topic HERE. This rule-set applies to the Cosplay Championship *only* (taking place on Sunday 5pm on the Super Stage), which is a special event taking place on the Sunday of London Film and Comic Con and intended to be a competition challenging the UK's best cosplayers and encourages each entrant to give a proper performance/skit. For this reason the entry requirements are of a higher standard than a typical Cosplay Masquerade. These are as follows; Eligibility for Entry to The Championship To be eligible to enter the competition each participant needs to meet the following criteria: 1. Groups must not be larger than four people, any cash prize awarded will be split between the group equally. Each winning entrant will receive entry to the next event if stated as the prize. 2. Each participant must be aged 18 years old. If under 18 then parental consent must be given if the participant is under age. 3. Costumes must be fully handmade (80%) by the participant. 4. Heavily altered costumes may be entered so long as they meet the 80% handmade costume criteria. (If you need help identifying if your costume is eligible please e-mail your costume with breakdown of handmade items to cosplay@animeleague.com) 5. All props rules must be followed and abided by to enter. 7. The participant is not required to perform a skit but it is highly recommended they do so. 8. We will allow on the day entries up until 3pm Sunday, but please ensure your application means the criteria. Judging Criteria (Each criteria is weighted evenly) Costumes will be judged in three areas by our professional judging team. Judging will occur beforehand with a pre-judging session (time TBC) for one hour, and during their performance. 1. Craftsmanship - The quality of the costume and how well it is made. 2. Character - (Including character likeness and character concept) How true the costume and cosplayer is to the idea of the character. Note this does not necessarily mean they should look exactly like the character; we allow your own creative interpretations (crossplay for example), as long as it recognisably feels like the character and the changes made are creatively done.***If you are presenting your original interpretation or character this will be marked based on likeness to information/concept provided to us. 3. Performance - Takes into account your performance and how you interact with the audience; for example your mannerisms, movements and generally how you present yourself. Skits are highly encouraged to get good marks on this. PLEASE NOTE: - the judges decisions are final once made. How To Register All applications must be E-mailed in advance to cosplay@animeleague.com with "COSPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRY" in the subject title. 25. And confirming the 4th and final cosplay guest for Cardiff! Andy Valentine Website; http://www.facebook....cosplayandprops Andy Valentine is a Bristol based cosplayer, costume design and prop fabricator who constantly aims to push the boundaries of what he's able to create, both in size and attention to detail. Sometimes, OCD has it's benefits. Andy has been a passionate gamer his entire life, and now spends his days creating things that he's grown up over the years. Taking the majority of his design inspiration from games like Fallout and Mass Effect, he loves to craft massive props and suits of armour based on the characters he loves. His motto is "I make cool stuff", and you can't argue with that.
