CLICK HERE FOR BANNERS & ADVERTS!!!

About the Competition:

This is a competition to encourage the fans attending to help us advertise this event and get the word out about this convention to as many Twilight fans as possible!

While there can only be one winner remember that the more fans that get to know about Twilight Proms the more tickets get sold and that means we have more to spend on activities, parties and the event as a whole, so spreading the word only makes the event better for everyone.

The winner of this competition will get:

A Prom Dance with a guest of your choosing!!!!

We will also be doing prizes for our 2nd and 3rd place contestants - these will be announced closer to the event!!!

How to Win!

We want to get adverts, banners and buttons spread over the internet on various Twilight fansites, cast fansites, and other sites that relate to the fandom. So, what you need to do is contact the webmasters of various sites and ask (kindly) if they would be willing to link back, give them the address of where to find an advert, banner or button ( http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twiproms/site.php?linkbk ) and wait for their response! Below is the points structure that we have adopted for calculating the winner! All you have to do is forward the replies from the webmasters to the competition email address given in the 'how to enter' section.

We are going to be judging the winner based on a points system. The points given are as follows:

  • A Twilight Proms advert featured on the sidebar of every page will gain you 50 points.
  • A Twilight Proms advert featured on only one page will gain you 20 points.
  • A banner/large button featured on every page of the site will gain you 20 points.
  • A banner/large button featured on an affiliates page will gain you 10 points.
  • A small button link featured on every page of the site will gain you 10 points.
  • A text link featured on every page of the site will gain you 5 points.
  • A small button link featured on an affiliates page will gain you 5 points.

If you get a banner added to a very busy/larger website that has a lot of traffic we will double the points listed above.

Just to give you a sample of what the emails were like that were sent to webmasters for the previous Twilight competition I have copied one of the ones used by one of our entrants. I have modified it so that it would work for the current event...

Hi there,

I noticed that your website is dedicated to Twilight, and you obviously have a large number of fans of the series/cast visiting daily.

Therefore, I was wondering if it would be at all possible for you to help us spread interest for Twilight Proms (an unofficial UK Twilight convention in September 2009), by putting an advert in your sidebar, or a banner on your website, adding us as an affiliate, and/or even putting a banner or link somewhere such as a news post.

The website can be found here: http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twiproms

The guests for the event are: Kellan Lutz "Emmett Cullen", Chaske Spencer "Sam Uley" and Jose Zuniga "Mr. Molina".

In turn, this will greatly benefit fans worldwide, as many do not yet know about the convention. If you are able to post a link, you will be providing them with an opportunity to meet people with similar interests, not to mention the stars. We will also benefit from a much more diverse group of attendees.

The Twilight Proms website has a page dedicated to banners to advertise the event: http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twiproms/site.php?linkbk

Thank you very much for your time, and I would be extremely grateful if you could consider helping us out!

Kind regards,

I thought this was a well written, and very kind email that was used which is why I chose it to use as an example here!!!

If you get any of the webmasters to post an article about the convention, and advertise the event more prominently then you can gain bonus points! These bonus points will be determined by the extent of the advertising you get!

In the event that a few people have replies back from the same website stating they achieved a link back, we will check the dates on the emails, and if they are incredibly close, and it is difficult to determine who exactly was responsible for the link back, then we will issue the same number of points to those few affected for your efforts!

It is worth noting that some of the Twilight/Cast fansites that are out there require a link back for them to return a link to Twilight Proms. If this is the case you need to not only have an email from the sites' webmaster proving that you contacted them to put a banner up, but you also need an email from the webmaster@massiveevents.co.uk email address proving that you also got emailed to get a button/banner added to the Twilight Proms site in order to secure the link back.

Points System for Livejournal Accounts:

A post must advertise the event, give details about the event, and link back to the website with a large button or banner. Points will be:

  • Personal Livejournal account (That is not F-locked) will gain you 5 points. (You can only get this once, so you cannot set up multiple accounts)
  • The first person to post on a community with 50-100 members will get 5 points
  • The first person to post on a community with 100-1000 members will get 10 points
  • The first person to post on a community with 1000+ members will get 20 points

This is stop multiple postings on the same community and spam, and to stop people from setting up comms and getting their friends to join up so they can post and earn some points. Because of the ease of postings on LJ and the fact that it is harder to get banners/buttons posted on websites, this is why you get fewer points for this section. I hope that makes sense.

And this is an example of a really good Livejournal post that you can use!

Do we have a square logo?? One of the websites I emailed is asking for one.

Any size in particular?

I don't have any square ones as I just did all of the standard web-sized buttons and banners (100x35, 468x60, 234x60 all of which are available on the site, plus the adverts).

I have put sidebars on

my blog

http://dragonsanddaffodils.blogspot.com/

and on my website (there are currently 658 websites linking to that page - there are 600-900 visits to my "pages" daily, but I have over 40 pages, so I will link the sidebar to the four main pages of my website)

http://www.dragonsanddaffodils.com/

I have tried to put on my deviantart page where I have 350+ watchers, but the HTML given above (If you use the a< banner section) mlinks to an error 404 image page.

Do you have any html to the moving sidebar that I could copy and paste into my deviantart journal?

It would be the first thing they saw on my page

okay doke

Does it count if it is my own company? for the dragons and daffodils one?

I am currently getting a decent number of hits cos my students are enrolling ready for September,

I have put it on 6 of the pages on my website, (I have four main sections to my business and have put it on each of the four home pages, plus the overall home page, plus the whats new section for the website overall)

Off to add that to deviantart then!

Hmm

I couldn't get it to work.

Normally, I can copy and paste html into my deviantart journal and it goes in just fine.

This is html I have currently got in there

<a href="http://crushlyts.com/twilight"><img src="http://s528.photobucket.com/albums/dd325/9359324/crushlyts/twilight/animations/bellsedmix.gif" border="0" style="cursor:default;"></a>

Perhaps you understand more about it than me (sorry, picks herself up off floor after laughing so much - html? Me?) and you understand why that one works, and the two html options you have posted won't work on there.

I am not allowed to copy and paste images either, they just don't allow that

Woop!

I did it!

This is the correct html for Deviantart users to put in their journals (as long as they are premium members)

Just copy and paste this into the main body of text when you update your premium journal

<a href="http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twiproms"><img src="http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twiproms/linkbk/ad-01.gif" width="155" height="365" border="0"></a>

**Edited**

Above is the correct DA code.

If it had the " target=" it corrupted the massiveevents website link.

Use the code above again, delete the other one. This is the correct one now.

i am on it now! already started to send emails to many sites!

if they are intrested and they say yes how do we let you know who is advertising etc.....??

Kelly

At the bottom of the first post is a bit titled "How to Enter" it gives details of how to enter the competition.

You forward the email replies from webmasters that state they are advertising for us, to competition@massiveevents.co.uk

You need to put "Twiligt Proms Competition - Your Full Name" as the subject line, as this is the inbox for all of the competition entries.

any of it...well kinda...

it's like if i was to advertise on twitter...how would that work? and i dunno...

i'm just not very bright lol

This isn't really for Twitter, it's more for websites, fansites, fanfiction websites, fanart websites, cast websites, etc. and I have also included a bit for livejournal.

The idea is to go to a bunch of Twilight websites where other Twilight fans go to and then email their webmasters and ask (kindly) if they would mind advertising for us. [There is a sample email in the original post] and if they say yes, point them in the direction of where they can find banners and adverts to link back to the website with.

Basically we want to get these adverts around the web so that when people are browing the websites they'll see the event information and hopefully come looking to find out more! We want to spread the word to as many fans as possible!

And the more banners, buttons and ads you get added to websites, the more points you get!

Lol, not true... the winner at Eternal Twilight 1 managed to rack up over 900 points!

There are loooooaaaaaaaaaaaads of Twilight sites out there willing to help out, and as a hint to everyone you should check out the ones who advertised ET1 and ask if they would do it again,

[Check out the affiliates for ET1 here: http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/twilight/site.php?links ]
