neo Posted October 13, 2003 Share Posted October 13, 2003 (edited) Well it's been a week since C4 (where did that go?? Lol) and the dust seems to have settled. I am also suffering from that damn cold/flu thing but just wanted to add my thanks and thoughts to the forum. I have read most of the comments on C4 both positive and negative and in my own opinion the only real fault of the weekend was that Elijah was way more popular than anybody could have imagined, yes even SM were to a degree caught out but I think coped extremely well and tried their best to have as few disappointed people as possible. When you have 250,000 people visiting the centre and several thousand of them only want to meet/see just one person even the best laid plans don't always work. This will result in some people leaving upset as they didn't get to meet the person they wanted to see. I would like to remind some people that there were some 26+ other guests and as far as I am aware most people got to see who they wanted and had a very enjoyable event. I am sure lessons will be learnt on all sides and will only result in a bigger and better C5, (IMHO attendees thinking they could just turn up at 10-11 am expecting to be guaranteed to see the headlining guest, quite frankly aren't living in the real world lol) I would also like to commend SM on letting people voice there views, good and bad on this forum, it would be all too easy to delete anything that puts them in a bad light. I am sure many other 'Show' forums wouldn't allow even the smallest amount of criticism to be posted about their event, let alone leave them up and let other people comment. This is a refreshing change to the 'we're right , your wrong' approach that some events adopt. I would like to thank ALL the guests who came along, I just hope they enjoyed C4 as much as the rest of us and would hope to see many return to future Collectormania's (or the London Film and Comic Con's) I'd like to say thanks to all the forum members that came by and said hi, those of you who know what I do realise it was difficult for me to get out and meet people, so I appreciate everyone who came over and introduced themselves. I met and saw loads of you, unfortunately I don't remember everybody's names oops, ( I was busy lol) so here goes with the name check : Davidb ( omg you WORKED!!!, are you ok? Have you recovered back into student life lol and I wont mention the games thing <_< ), Cordy ( not the games queen anymore, the 'ticket' queen lol), Jacs ( finally we met, and a nice meeting it was. You did beat me on the car game but I won the air-hockey, so it's a draw, rematch? Lol) Stick , Phoenix (watch were you pointing that camera lol), Tish Tosh (keep on running lol), Mash ( I was the only one who saw your pin badge, prize? lol ), LilElfGirl (how many times did I say hi to you?? lol), Houdy (did you get to keep the BMW? I think you should lol and thanks for opening that door on Sunday, it was freezing out there lol), Roxy , Toots (thank god you got to meet Dom, would we have heard the end of it if you hadn't? come to think it you'll probably keep reminding us you did lol), Moondust, Vamps ( you finally met Elijah, I wonder if he's recovered lol), Cushy, Suzi ( your t-shirt was far too professional, I reckon you should have a stall at C5 lol) LOTR Fan (keep posting lol) , DavidS, Thingy and Wotsit , Billy Bob and Fox Mulder , Poppy, rickman101, Betrayed-Deagol, Sarah-4-eva (nice afro lol), Bing Fling. I didn't have chance to chat with everyone but it was great to see you all and I'm sorry to anyone I've forgotten, next time I'll make notes lol Last but not least, Jason, Mark, Andrea and ALL the other people that make up the Showmaster Team, I would like to congratulate you on a superb 4 days. I don't think there are many other people who could have done what you did. I know there are some who have done nothing but criticise you, but I think the only thing you are guilty of is trying to be the best at what you do. Sure not everything went to plan and I'm sure there are many reasons why something's happened the way they did, but hindsight is a wonderful thing lol. Well that's it, I hope I didn't bore you too much and you probably know realise why I stay in the games section most the time lol Oh yes almost forgot......... Sorry to hear about that cold/flu bug you got but I can tell you, I dont think you are the only one coming away from the event with the damn lurgy. I attended Sat/Sun to the event and by Tuesday though to even now, I have had this awful cold even my wife caught it too. What ever was going around that place was a bad strain. The Event was cool but as far as Heath/Safefy goes, well. I think it was all to squashed and you had to climb over everyone. It is understandable that everyone has shared germs. Me and my friend Sarah got to meet people we have idolised for such a long time (I mean, hello - Tony Head, aka Giles from Buffy!) and we also made 2 fantastic new friends. The organisation was, for the most part, almost faultless and I have to thank the very kind people who were so understanding when I a) couldn't find my ticket for Tony Head (or, well, couldn't get to it) and managed to misplace my receipt for Dom somewhere between the payment desk and him. And also to the guy who looks like Andy Serkis' distant relative. Many, MANY thanks to the fantastic guests, especially Elijah who had the arduous task of spelling my name (Rhiannon) and then my friend Richenda's name because we'd pleaded for personalisations.
