I've had a look before for patterns and things for a Hogwarts uniforum (robe) and a LOTR elf dress but I never really know where to look so I wondered if anyone knows of any sites that they could reccomend with good paterns for either of these comstumes. Thanks.

umm...

typically (to me) hogwarts uniforms seem a bit like light cloth coats, with a slightly wizardish flair

and LOTR elves... a cloak that covers completely (i.e. helms deep) is about the only one i can think would be easy...

sorry for not bein much use...

righto, i can help here.

Ill admit i make most costumes & patterns by ear, but i hsave a few patterns for stuff i have no reference fr.

You may find these useful. the patterns are easy, and due to exvhange rates, pretty damn cheap too.

The harry potter ones im not sure about, but they look fairly easy to make. ill look for good patterns in a bit.

The simplicity range are just thta, cheap, easy and fairly good quality.

I made my Arwen dress using the last pattern (I think it was the last one in anycase) and Ellie's Eowyn dress using the same pattern, but I moderated it for a different neck line!

It works quite well, and was easy to cope with (first costume I'd ever made, and I'm pretty happy with it!)

Feel free to ask for any help/hints when you get into the actual making... I found that the neck-line was the hardest part to get looking right, and finding the right sort of trimming all but impossible... so really a lot depends on your expectations and how like the movie costumes you want yours to look like...

I have a dark green Elf dress, and used a Burda Mode pattern. You can find it here

I also used this pattern for a sul'dam dress, from the Wheel of Time series of books. For that, my mom designed tight sleeves instead of the butterfly ones, and I made the skirt wider by putting inset triangles in the side-seam. It looks great, and it really comfortable.

Thanks for all the help, I had thought of ordering one of the dress patterns of one of the sites posted but I found a shop that had similar ones in so I didn't need to for my elf dress. Still need Hogwarts robes but I have longer to get that sorted. ^_^

Cool idea Aragorns_Princess :uhoh: I will be having Ravenclaw robes, hopefully as Luna :P
