  1. I think with over 60 guests still attending, you might be blowing things out of proportion slightly. I think he meant guests that aren't sports stars/voice actors/comic writers & artists. Actual actors and actresses in tv and movies. There hasn't been nearly as many at this year's EMS. Last year there were loads, and quite a few big games. This year not so much. Big names and types of guests are down to an individuals personal tastes. I have seen someone post that not many footballers are signed to appear in comparison to former events. But Showmasters have to keeop a variety for all fans of all genres. One friend of mine going is super excited due to the boxers signed. He probably wouldn't have gone if they had not been announced. So, it is all down to personal tastes. I think the show will be a great event. In the past thought EMS has been very much like LFCC lite version, which was great. This year is the first year since 2008 that hasn't really been like that - and the first EMS I haven't gone to in that time. I do acccept that it's nice for other people of all genres though. I hope it's a success for all that go. It just shocked me a bit to see it changed so much. LFCC is more definitive in its name - London Film & Comic Con EMS is more open to meaning for some - Entertainment Media Show It seems that same genres have definitely had better treatment in previous EMS events, and now some of us fans of other genres are getting the red carpet treatment. Next year it will probably change again. It is also down to what guests are avaialble. As the cancellations show, these people are in demand for filming work.
  2. There are still many days left until the event and Shwomasters do try and book guests up until the last minute. You mentioned about a budget to come and stat being more than £200 as you live outside England, but there are some of us who have to travel to London and pay for hotels with little change from £200. You are not alone. It will eb a great event. Fun. Meeting fellow fans. Don't be disheartened.

  5. It is always disappointing if a guest you were planning on meeting has to cancel their appearance, but it has always been, and always will be the case that they appear subject to work commitments. We all want our favourite actors, actresses, directors etc in work as it means more great work. I can remember in times gone by when a guest was called either at the airport or en route to the airport in the States by their agent to return home as the shooting schedule had changed last minute. As regards not being the same quality as the announcement, that is unfair on the new guest as they are here to meet people who want to meet them. Everyone has different opinions on what is a quality guest, or a big name guest etc. We should keep in mind that guests attending, or their agents, come on these forums form time to time and can read everything written. To say Guest A is not as good as Guest B is not a nice thing to read. Cancellations, especially where you have so many at an event like this which is different to a themed weekend convention, the chances of cancellations or rearrangements may seem higher and more noticeable as there are so many more attending. I am sure you will have a great time, as will we all, when the show happens.
  6. So, you will be getting that Friday feeling then?
  7. I will have 4 small ones and two big ones please...oops, wrong Countdown!!
  8. Unfortunately you do get the "Can I have a hug" people which eat into the talk time, which is unfair on others. I have seen this happen many times.
  9. The first post states that these wil be done automatically. In other words, the office will start to process them asap. And, as it looks like there is no event for two weeks, this may get done sooner rather than later. Sorry, I meant I ordered a signed David Bradley photograph not a photo shoot.. The same answer applies. Any monies paid for David Bradley will be refunded automatically over the coming days etc. It usually depends on how busy the office is processing payments for everything.
  10. I actually went looking for it after my jokey post, but could not find it... D'oh!
  11. The price you say? "One million dollars! Mwah Ha Ha Ha" Only joking. In Dr Evil mode after watching Austin Powers.
  12. Cancellations happen at evey event, no matter who runs them. On the plus side, Showmasters do try to book up until the last minute. Keep the faith.

  14. Exactly. The amount of different combinations for photos is massive. There would not be enough time to fit them in over just 2 and a half days.
  15. Remember that this is not a Showmasters/Massive Events convention. It is being run by a few firms/organisers and thus the running could possibly be different to what people are used to with Showmasters/Massive Events. I am sure they will run the event to the highest possible standards which benefit the fans, and thus benefit the organisers.
  16. It could very well be that only Kate took up an invitation to appear from the Voyager cast?

The one thing that makes Showmasters/Massive Events so unique is the amount of events it runs to cover all genres and all times of year. This is also a big weight to carry on the proverbial shoulders. I used to attend events elsewhere and they run roughly the same amount of events every year. Chatter is regular and semi-constant because they are generally focusing on the next event or two. They put enough time in between events to do this. So, Showmasters/Massive Events run many events and thus some events can seem to look like they are poor relations or being ignored where infact they are being attended to behind the scenes alongside many other events. So, maybe not seen or heard for a while...but never forgotten.
  18. Also, there is some 8 months to go until this event and that is a long long way away.
  19. You will find that any event organiser will have a certain budget to start the event rolling. If sales are good, then an organiser can make the event bigger and even better. Showmasters have run events before and lost money through low ticket sales, so they are very experienced in running these events. Just because a guest has yet to be announced, does not mean further ones will not be signed. Showmasters are fully aware that they have to invest in events to make people decide to attend. No real catch 22 situation, otherwise very few events would get past the planning stage.
  20. As is the norm for Showmasters (and pretty much any type of event), a guest will be announced once they have signed a contract and returned it to Showmasters. Until then, no guest is hinted at or announced as it could hamper negotiations for the guest or guests to attend. Jason & Co continue to source guests for all events right up to the last minute.
  21. Remember that this event is not solely a Showmasters event. It is in conjunction with others.
  22. All I can say is WOW. This guy proves that not giving up does work. He recently carried the Paralympic torch and was one of the best boxers of his day.
  23. This is not purely a Showmasters Event. Jason and his team have other parties to consult with in the running of this event. This is not your regular Showmasters event where Jason & Co do what they want to.
  24. Unless they chaneg their minds, it apparently has always been slated for Jeff's return.
