  1. So £100 - £200 (Diamond prices) is the new going rate for autos now?
  2. So what exactly is the point of handing out VQ tickets for Benedict Cumberbatch autographs when 450 (!) Diamond passes have been sold (at around £220 that's around £100,000 incidentally) meaning that zero VQ holders will even have the priviledge of queuing? Ditto John Cleese who's queue, we are promised, might open to standard ticket holders at around 5:15. I stress "might". As autographs go this is easily the worst LFCC I can remember.
  3. I expect the block was probably put in place after that date. Any chance of it being lifted?
  4. Hey you're in Wirral too. Cool. I'm in Bebington!
  5. I just changed my e-mail account to Gmail. But Showmasters doesn't seem to want to accept it. Do they not allow Gmail or Googlemail? If so I won't be able to post.
  6. I was surprised about Jennifer because I saw her way, way back at a big Star Trek convention at the Royal Albert Hall. Must have been around 1994. If I remember correctly she appeared at one of the side doors with a mic, as a surprise guest, and exchanged banter with Ethan Phillips who was on stage at the time, across the hall. She seemed fine to me, but I guess she was still making Voyager back then so maybe she was more confident. Plus my memory could be playing tricks. Anyway I really hope she's okay cos she's lovely.
  7. I must admit I quite like the lady who wonders around as Princess Leia! ;-)
  8. I suppose it was a weekend of mostly highs and a few lows for me… The Good: David Tennant. Still can’t believe you got him! Got two great autographs and a fabulous picture. I just wish I’d said more to him, there’s so much you want to say but by the time you open your mouth your 20 seconds (or whatever) are up. I’d love to spend an hour down the pub with him talking about Who! Armin Shimerman and Georgia Moffett. Loved meeting these, really really nice! There is some kind of aura around Georgia, just a lovely, lovely lady! (Tennant, you lucky git!) Eve Myles and Joe Flanagan: two of the most entertaining talks I’ve ever heard! The queues: I thought it worked a lot better this time, including the orderly way the Tennant VTs were given out. Photo desk: bravo for having more staff on hand, wearing gloves, etc. A vast improvement over the smash and grab approach to recent events. The American food stands – what a great idea! ïŠ The SM lady wearing the badges, Talk Area A. I don’t think I’ve seen anybody put so much effort into making everything work in my life. It’s a thankless task running around with that mic, but she was brilliant. Give her a bonus or something!! The Bad: The heat. OMG. It was so bad that my brand new Samsung Galaxy SII broke: yup, due to either the heat or condensation caused by shifting temperatures the screen got corrupted. Thankfully it was still under warranty so O2 sent out a replacement, but really, EMS could have ended up costing me another £500!! That definitely needs looking into. Lighting during talks: it was virtually impossible to take good photos during the talks because the whole area was shrouded in darkness. Tennant photo desk: OMG was that carnage or what? 1000 people in 200 degree heat desperately looking for pictures of themselves! Not SM’s fault I guess, but could this be done differently with the bigger guests? For example, separating male and female photos onto separate tables to halve the crowd? Or making it clear which photos belong to which batch of photo ticket numbers? The Sad: Jennifier Lien: what happened there? I felt so bad for her, especially during the Star Trek talk on the Sunday. The other guests did their best to include her but wow, that was so difficult.
  9. Oh there were loads and loads of nice people (read: ladies!) there but I must single out one: She was on staff. I think her name was... Rachel? She had a lot of badges down her front, so she can't be too hard to identify. Anyway she was on microphone on the #1 talks stage for the entire weekend and she worked her ass off, actually tripping up during the auction! And then... THEN... she appeared at the photo collection desk and started dealing with the crowd of impatient Tennant collectors. She was gorgeous and seemed genuinely lovely. And like I said she just deserves SO much credit for working so hard!
  10. OMG I didn't realise there was going to be an announcement today - just checked my e-mail at midnight - OMG David Tennant? Seriously? Right, this event (both days) just became a priority. Photoshoot booked. And Georgia too! I hope I don't have number 203484 in the queue for being a few hours late! :-)
  11. I know that Showmasters want to present as many guests as possible (and make as much money as possible!) but I don't know, this time around I almost felt as if I was on a production line! There were so many people I wanted to see on the Saturday that I spent a small fortune, and spent most of the last hour stressed out that I was going to miss autos for Karen and Chris Lloyd. And the Karen shoot was so quick that you barely had time to see Karen, swoon, then see the camera before it was SNAP and you're gone! For the first time ever I didn't even get a chance to wander round the stands - and I only got to see two talks, Walter Koenig and Brent Spiner, but didn't hear much of either because there was too much noise elsewhere! I know this is heresy but couldn't these events be a bit more controlled? Maybe limit the number of entry tickets? Or reduce the guest count? Or something? I mean quantity is important but not when it comes at the expense of quality.
  12. Similar experience for me. He seems really cheery and friendly at the photo shoot but by the time I was able to join his auto queue (5:10pm having got the VT at 9:30!!!) he looked incredibly tired and didn't say anything. Actually I think he might have said hello - but there was a lot of ushering and he was signing really slowly and carefully. I can well believe that he'd taken too long chatting earlier on and was under orders not to chat any more. To be honest I was kind of expecting him to be quiet. I remember a Wogan interview he did when BTTF III came out - he was on with Mary Steenburgen - and he barely said a word there either! But it was experience of seeing him in the flesh that mattered and I got that. The delays to the cue were the most infuriating aspect!!! Now Lea Thompson on the other hand - OMG how fantastic was she? She looked just as excited and enthusiastic and brilliant at 5pm as she had when I saw her at 11. A wonderful lady. Lea and Karen Gillan were the definite hightlights for me! (Even though Karen was justed as rushed as Chris)
  13. Well I'm arriving 9:30 and must leave at 5:30. Guaranteed a photo with Karen but I'll be a bit gutted if I miss out on an auto. I wasn't too worried until I started figuring that she'd be away from her table for about 3 hours!
  14. Hang on, that sounds a bit dodgy. I have an early bird ticket but I'm not arriving until 9:30. Are you saying that regular ticket people queuing outside, for entry at 11am, will get a VT for Karen before I do?
  15. Yeah, pleeeeeease don't put any more guests exclusively on the Sunday if you can help it. I've had to forego staying over to have more cash for the event so I'll be gutted if I miss anyone. Selfish I know, but I'm sure there are others in the same boat. We want to give our money to YOU, not to a hotel!
  16. 1. David Warner doesn't understand Tron (does anybody??) In fact he doesn't understand any of the sci-fi movies he's been in! I thought that was lovely :-) He was, however, disappointed not to have been asked to do Tron Legacy. 2. LeVar Burton is really proud of his movie Blizzard. He set out to make the ultimate Christmas movie and hopes that one day it'll become a staple of the Christmas schedule (it's a wonderful film if you haven't seen it). 3. Both Nicole DeBoer and Robert Patrick are aware how highly regarded their episode of The Outer Limits is, and looked forward to bumping into each other at the event.
  17. OMG I just saw this same girl again - outside the Doctor Who proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday! Woo-hoo! I did pluck up the courage to say hi and ask if she'd been at LFACC and she confirmed it. But she was busy chatting to her mate (and is considerably younger than me I think) so I backed off. But wow, what I stunner. I mean, Keira Knightley league! :-) Anyway, if you're a lurker here - HI and did Matt/Karen/Arthur show their faces after I left?
  18. I was incredibly well behaved. Despite a lot of temptation the only thing I bought from the dealers was a Supergirl 10x8 signed by Helen Slater. I couldn't resist that! :-) This made up for the approx £240 I spent on getting autographs and photoshoots!
  19. LOL Awesome thread! :-) I tell you who I thought was reeeeeally fit - and I hope this doesn't embarrass anybody, because she was one of the CREW! :-) I didn't get her name, but she was short, slim, has short (shoulder length) dark hair and was on the bags desk during the William Shatner photo shoot on Saturday afternoon! If anybody know who this fine lady was, please holler! :-) John
  20. If the paid Shatner talk is swapped with the free Star Wars Imperials talk, so it starts at 4.10pm, it won't clash with anything. The photo shoots on Sunday will all be over by 3pm or thereabouts. I'm sorry, but if the Shatner talk is moved to 4pm Sunday I won't be able to make it because I'm on the 4pm train out of London! The mid-day time is perfect - please don't change it!
  21. Brilliant - thanks guys! I'm not sure exactly how this virtual queuing system thingy works but hopefully it'll be okay. I've been to a ton of Doctor Who conventions, I'm just unsure about this one! My train doesn't get into London until 11am on the Saturday so hopefully I don't miss out on anything. I'm there for the Sunday as well (until 3pm anyway!)
  22. This is my first LFCC event and I'm a bit confused. A couple of weeks ago I could have sworn I saw tickets for the William Shatner autograph sessions available for sale on this site. Today only tickets for the photo shoot and chat are available. Have I missed out (I hope not!!) or are autograph tickets only available on the day?
