  1. That made me crack up....!!! And that made me laugh too
  2. Eli would be very well suited for Autographica. He's been suggested before on here and the fact that he's here at about the same time. If he's gone back to US then lets hope they'll get him next time. I know a lot of us REALLY want Autographica to get some more of these older greats from film history.
  3. TOTALLY agree on that. Cracks me up when Americans say that. I was at one of Eminem's gigs at MK Bowl in 2003 and one of the support acts said 'Hello London' and everyone was laughing how the HELL did they manage that one?? didn't the PR guy tell them 'by the way guys, this is Milton keynes' ???? I know, you would think someone would tell them where they are Too busy counting the money I guess I bet they spent most of the time in London and just travelled up for the gigs. I remember turning to my mate and saying that I know city boundaries are extending all the time but that's ridiculous
  4. AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaccccttuuuuaaallllllyyyyyy Lorrys are lorries But I know what you mean . It can apply to both - otherwise truckers will be out of a job (truck - Any of various heavy motor vehicles designed for carrying or pulling loads.) TOTALLY agree on that. Cracks me up when Americans say that. I was at one of Eminem's gigs at MK Bowl in 2003 and one of the support acts said "Hello London" and everyone was laughing
  5. Would be nice wouldn't it. I'd especially like to meet Maradona. If they can't do it this time, it looks like Soccer Aid is going to become an annual event. Maybe every year at Old Trafford, or maybe Wembley will be a future venue too - bigger capacity means more money to Unicef. If we had a signing show at the same time then getting some of the big football names who don't usually do signing shows might be a possibility. If they don't like signing for money then maybe have them sign for Unicef. I'd really enjoy meeting the really big football legends.
  6. he's always been a joke True - the double (US) meaning to the word really suits him
  7. i've met Nimoy Before and to be honest it was a bit like the Shatner experience. In other words say hi, get signature, more along. NO PHOTOS, NO PERSONALISATION. I managed to get some pics of him from one side but nothing special. I'd love to meet him again though just to see what mood he is in. Plus with the 40th Anniversary and now they have teamed up for Fed Con UK it could get interesting Yes he can be like that sometimes can't he. My way of thinking was if we have Shatner and Nimoy a few times in the future then maybe at one we'll all get a good experience lol. Surely it has to happen one day for fans. I did hear Nimoy had a cold on his last visit and wasn't in a good mood, no excuse for just ignoring people of course. I agree, with Fed Con lets hope that it makes for something good happening. Shatner and Nimoys joint talks in the US always seem to go down well. At least if we had something like that it would be a positive experience for us seeing them. I think a lot of us really want that, to have a good memory of being with those two icons. Lets hope it happens for us.
  8. US pants are trousers over here. Not a good one to get mixed up. Fanny pack can get you in trouble too! Best to avoid that one. Truck is a lorry. Football is still football - its you who called it soccer Theres a big list of words having different meanings in British and American English at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_words...merican_English and maybe we could all pick out the best from there too. Stick to Monty Python quotes and you'll be fine oh - and Bush is something to laugh at here too...well it is now.
  9. I like the Birmingham and bus tour ideas a lot. I've been to some of the places from Tolkiens life and I bet lots of fans would like to see them too. The Trek cons in US sometimes have a bus tour of Trek locations, so having a Tolkien one here would be fantastic.
  10. I've heard of this sun thing that you mention but rarely seen it here in UK The good thing with holding the event in the UK is that you won't get much competition from outdoor events Welcome to the boards another show MC! Just took a look at your photo galleries - the show looks excellent. Extremely happy you're bringing it to UK too now. We've been wanting a Trek con like this for ages. BIG thanks
  11. That would be great to see happen live. It would be good if we had some more unusual things like that. I definitely hope we get some onstage talks and Q and As. I always like to see a talk as well as the usual signings. Makes it feel like we've seen more of the guest. Prop displays would be good. And I'd like to have a Trek writer, especially Dorothy (D.C.) Fontana. We'd learn a lot from a talk by her. But more than anything I'd like to see Trek cast reunions. If we're going to have Fed Con every year in UK then trying to get as many of the cast from a particular Trek series would be great. We've not had that happen very often in UK or Europe so it would be good for fans here. A photo op with a Trek crew would be very popular. Start with the original series crew that are remaining, then try for as many of TNG, DS9, Voyager, Ent at each show in the future. Have each show with a theme of paying tribute to a particular series. Still have guests from each series, but at each show have a main focus on one series. So that each one is different and memorable.
  12. wow, and 22 minutes later they announce her lol http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=27646 I should have asked for Patrick Stewart too! lol
  13. Brilliant guest. I only just asked for her today in the Trek 40th anniversary thread on the Guest Suggestions board - http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=27493 And now you've got her. Now thats service! Thank you showmasters VERY much for this one. And hope you get more TOS guests at this years events later in year too.
  14. Any from TOS. Grace Lee Whitney hasn't done a UK show for awhile I think, and shes nice to meet. Met her at Autographica a few years ago. And I think Nimoy hasn't done a SM event before. But any from TOS gets my vote. Main TOS cast, and any of the more memorable TOS guest stars - Joan Collins has done a US con and UK store signings.
  15. Some more who I'd like to see, Angela Lansbury Julie Andrews D1ck van Dyke Omar Sharif Julie Christie Terence Stamp Jack Klugman has been mentioned and he'd be brilliant - he's got a great book out called Tony and Me, all about his friendship with Tony Randall. It comes with a DVD that contains out takes from the The Odd Couple tv series. Theres a site about the book: http://www.tonyandme.com/ Jacks been doing some book signings in U.S. for that so its possible he might want to come to U.K. for a signing show too. Hes in one of my favourite films of all time, 12 Angry Men, and two of my fave tv series, Odd Couple and Quincy, so that would make me very happy!
  16. It is strange. With a bit of luck we may get what we want. I like the idea of theming it around an event too. I agree, with the ex players already in UK for something like Wimbledon, or ex footballers on their way to a World Cup, or legends on their way to a big FIFA or Olympic type gala that often happen in Switzerland and Monaco annually, then it may be possible to include a visit here as part of their trip. Try to arrange it around their schedules - well at least in the case of a couple of headliners - so we get more of the big name rarer international ones, rather than just picking a date then finding out that not many can come. The whole idea of a sports centered show really has a lot of interest for many collectors. And I think a lot of the legends themselves would like the chance to meet with fans too.
  17. Agree with all those too. Borg sitting with Mac if they could get both would be amazing. Roger Bannister, it would be brilliant to meet him and get a signed photo from the 4 minute mile. Daley Thompson, one of my childhood heroes. You're right though - the list is endless. Just thinking of all the different sports that I follow brings up so many ideas of who we could get. And uk like most countries is sports mad of course. Theres so many possibilities for this. Hopefully SM or Garry and Dave are reading this thread. We could think up guest lists for 10 years worth of shows - and thats a good example of how a show like this could run and run. And so many would be first time signers!
  18. Either a spin off for Autographica, or a SM event, like a sports version of CM or LFACC. Either way would be good. At the moment even if we got 3 or 4 sports stars at Autographica, and a handful of good new ones at that other show that has sports, thats only a very few each year for us sports collectors. It would take decades to meet all our heroes. A show on its own for sports does seem to be the way to go to meet the demand thats out there, with so many sports collectors.
  19. Valentino would be a great one to meet. He'd have a massive queue. Another one whos never done a signing show.
  20. He'd be such a good guest. Saw him interviewed on tv recently. Seems like a nice guy. His uk talk is only a week before Autographica. It would be very nice if he stayed a few days more to appear at this too.
  21. His restaurant column is interesting - and yes infuriating too. And having the letters that are rude about him would seem to show he can laugh at himself - either that or its a way for him to fill the space without writing too much And yes, the Radisson staff are probably on high alert already. It could be an interesting weekend
  22. Hope not. I was looking forward to meeting him.
  23. From Autograph Collector mag http://www.autographcollector.com/bestworst.html 'It's that time of the year again. When celebrities cower in fear or smile with pride as they remember how good (or bad) they were to autograph collectors over the past year. Autograph Collector brings you its annual 10 Best & 10 Worst Signers list, but this time only Hollywood stars made the cut. That's because we plan on giving you two additional lists this year--one for sports in the fall and one for music in the winter. So who's been cool and who's been cruel to autograph collectors?' 10 Best 1. Johnny Depp 2. George Clooney 3. Matt Damon 4. Al Pacino 5. Tom Cruise 6. Angelina Jolie 7. Elijah Wood 8. Brittany Murphy 9. Jack Nicholson 10. Clint Eastwood 10 Worst 1. Cameron Diaz 2. Bruce Willis 3. Demi Moore 4. Tobey Maguire 5. Alan Alda 6. Halle Berry 7. Winona Ryder 8. Teri Hatcher 9. Joaquin Phoenix 10. Russell Crowe and from BBC site, Sunday, 14 May 2006 Actor Depp tops autograph survey Actor Johnny Depp is Hollywood's best autograph signer and Cameron Diaz the worst, according to a magazine survey. Depp tops Autograph Collector's 14th annual survey of celebrity signers. George Clooney is second. "Many stars become bad signers once fame and fortune hits, but not Depp," said editor Steve Cyrkin. But he said of Cameron Diaz: "Instead of just turning down a person's autograph request, she'll just lecture them about how dumb autographs are." "She may be a talented actress, but she's persistently a terrible signer," Mr Cyrkin added. George Clooney won praise for joking as he signs for fans. "He'll make fun of how he looks in photos he's handed to autograph," he said. Russell Crowe would have been named the worst autograph signer, but Mr Cyrkin said he had been nicer to fans in recent months. TOP FIVE CELEBRITY SIGNERS 1. Johnny Depp 2. George Clooney 3. Matt Damon 4. Al Pacino 5. Tom Cruise Source: Autograph Collector http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4769903.stm
  24. And another one I'd add is Richard Widmark. Been in so many great films. He's 92 later this year.
  25. I'd agree with that. And as said in the Scott thread at top of page, on a space related theme the legendary Chuck Yeager.
