1. Indeed she did and she was lovely. She has a great personality that comes across really well on stage. On top of that, she was very friendly during the signings. I would like to see her again so if another show can do it, great! Thanks for letting us know - a great, and very rare guest to try and get. Hope we see her over here in UK. Here are some quotes from her - On doing a Star Trek convention after 10 years: "One of the main reasons I'm here, if not the entire reason I'm here, is to celebrate Gene Roddenberry. He discovered me, in many ways, when I was a kid in Hollywood, and he put me in two different segments of the original Star Trek, which were a total joy to do. I cannot tell you how inventive and how creative everybody was who worked on that show, from the actors, the makeup, the hair, the camera ... I will never forget it as long as I live." (2006)
2. Yes, no question about it. It would be great to meet him. A legend and he'd be perfect for Autographica.
3. Now we've got Fed Con here in UK hopefully they'll get George and Walter and many more. Fantastic news that they're doing Fed Con Thank you for that sm
4. Thankfully, now we've finally got this big annual UK Trek event, what would you like to see happen there. Something that happened at a US Trek con that I thought was cool - they had a screening of the Trouble With Tribbles from the TOS, complete with Shatner and Nimoy doing a live commentary on it! Something like that makes for a unique experience at a con. Any other ideas to make it very special?
5. Fantastic news. I've wanted a big annual Trek one like this in UK for years, with lots of guests. And was saying we need something to mark the 40th anniversary in the George and Walter post on the suggestions page. Guest suggestions - as many TOS stars you can get in this special year. Even in the US no one has so far got all the surviving TOS crew appearing together at an event in this 40th year. It would be cool if we could outdo the US for a change
6. I'd like to see them invited back as well. Especially as this is the 40th anniv year. There are some 40th anniv events in US - but I don't think any have so far got all the surviving original crew as guests. Would be good to have our own UK 40th anniv reunion of some of the cast. Either at CM or LFACC - or maybe even a one off stand alone event just to celebrate the original series in this special year. As far as I know there aren't any events just for the 40th anniv here in Europe with many original crew guests, so I'm sure a lot of Trek fans would like to have one here later in the year.
7. Oooh, good call! I'd forgotten about those two. Both big favs of mine Andrea The DVDs are worth getting too if you haven't already. Couple of nice extras - Behind The Scenes Commentary on A Matter of Life and Death, and making of and interviews on Dr. Strangelove. Actually anything by Kubrick or Powell & Pressburger is usually worth watching of course. Same for Hitchcock and Billy Wilder. I like most of their films. They all seemed to know how to make us think while never forgetting to entertain us at the same time. Billy Wilder said "If you have something important to say, wrap it in chocolate," and also "I just made pictures I would have liked to see." And his motto for film making was "Never bore people." That sums up great film making to me. Wish we had films like theirs coming out every week.
8. Yes I'd like to see that too. Peter Tork from the Monkees has also done signing shows, and there are lots of others who may be possible as guests who haven't yet.
9. That would be a dream guest for many space collectors. He has only participated in one (mailed in items) signing and the base fee was as I recall $495 per autograph with extras for mission inscription, personalisation, inscription and a premium for crew completions and multi-signed items. Not sure how many would be able or willing to pay around £280 for one single autograph at a show ! Ah. I didn't know that. I'm guessing he'd only be invited if he charged a lot less than that Otherwise as you say, doubt he'd be too busy. Hope they get him one day.
10. I can't watch that film Makes my head want to explode 976048 Imagine how John Malkovich felt 7 years of therapy...
11. No need for apologies Any ideas are welcome even if its more recent ones that you know. Shearer would be great. Hes a nice guy too - one of the few big name recent football stars who still signed through the mail after they got really famous. I'd like to meet him definitely.
12. The Seventh Seal Vertigo Being John Malkovich Blood Simple Dr. Strangelove Paths of Glory A Matter of Life and Death Witness for the Prosecution Double Indemnity The Big Sleep Maltese Falcon and of course Dude, Where's My Car
13. Good ones. I would add Jake LaMotta too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_LaMotta the real life raging bull himself! Good for film fans too. In his 80s now. I would of course also add Muhammad Ali but that may be hard to pull off. maybe a sports only show could get the really massive legends like that to appear. Not sure if he could do in person signings but I met him at a booksigning in Birmingham in the 90s - at that one he didn't sign in person but the books had signed bookplates inside that he'd signed in advance. And I was more than happy to just meet the man, shake his hand and say a few words. Floyd patterson – yeah i read about that yesterday. Real shame hes gone. Great legend. We've lost a few great sports names in recent years – Cloughie and George Best for example. And most never did a signing show. I was lucky enough to meet Brian Clough and George over the years at other things but a signing show makes it easier for more fans to meet such greats. It would be a shame if we missed out on meeting the true greats who are left and who have never done a signing show yet. Great suggestion, especially Murray Walker. I'd also like to meet Damon Hill, and maybe David Coulthard and Mikka Hakkinen. 975433 Those would all be excellent. Murray was at the Spanish Grand Prix today, dressed in all the Honda gear, cap etc. Somehow I've missed him at booksignings so I'd like him to do a signing show. Hard to believe he's in his 80s. Coulthard could be a possibility - hard to get the current drivers but during the off season it may be possible. And another current motorsports hero who would be very good to get is Valentino Rossi. I think he lives in London, and during the winter months of the off season, in between any testing, it may be possible to have him appear. Like I said, it would be a shame to miss meeting sporting greats like this.
14. I'd like to meet Commander John W. Young - Commander of the 1st space shuttle mission in 1981. Also flew on Gemini 3, Gemini 10, Apollo 10, Apollo 16, & STS-9.
15. LOL, I know, its like your players enjoy putting the fans through a rollercoaster ride Indiana Jones would be proud of. I'm waiting for a Utd-Liverpool final sometime and 5-5! I feel for the Hammers as well, they must feel that someone didn't want them to win. In a way its a shame we don't have replays anymore. I understand what they mean about number of games, but now we've had 2 Cup Finals in a row decided on pens (don't get me started on last years injustice...) The FA Cup runs for about 9 months so one more game wouldn't hurt, like it used to be. And after todays game I'd have liked to see more. Although whether the players had any more to give is another matter! Still the important thing is that we've had a classic Cup Final again at last with both teams giving their all. Really was a great advert for our game for everyone watching around the world. And both teams should be very proud of a game that will never be forgotten.
