If getting official status is going to be an issue then theres not a lot of choice, but id think that an official afterparty is definetly the way to go. It might put potential partygo-ers off if the party is just a party in a random bar in town. If its got a connection to the event it might reassure folk.

Use photobucket or something similar. You can only seem to upload pics/avatars with direct links. Damn beaten to it! I just figured out my avatar. Just use the part of the control panel that lets you use a file from another location. Mine is my avatar from another forum. Piece of cake!
