  2. I was also looking forward to the firefly script but i still came away from the auction with something awesome. I won the Dark Horse comic book art/storyboards I was extremely happy, also got ASH to sign the one with Giles on it as well

  5. Good point Numfar, I think people forget this fact. I'm hopeful of an announcement over the next week or so
  6. I managed to get some black fabric paint from Hobbycraft if thats worth a try?
  7. last year we all got a picture of each guest in our packs on registration.
  8. that would be great! we are going to give it a couple of tries over the next week (just because i like to try and do these things myself) and if we are still struggling to get it to look right any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
  9. this year i'm going vamp for the initiative party, i've got myself a foam latex vamp forehead and was wondering if any of you had tips on blending one into your skin colour? or am i best going with an actual colour like white and whiting both the forehead and my face? Any advice is much appreciated :-)
  10. i agree there are worse but last year our room in the thistle was not very clean and the whole place just seemed a bit shabby. just trying the sheraton this year to see if its any better, we could well be back at the thistle next year if the walk from the sheraton gets to be a pain in the bottom! hahaha
  11. glad we are not the only ones then! the thistle is convenient but the standard of the rooms we thought were pretty grotty for the price, hence trying the sheraton, and its not far at all :-)
  12. Anyone staying at the sheraton this year? we stayed at the thistle last year and weren't to impressed. A few stayed at the sheraton last year but this year everyone seems to be Thistle. Just curious....
  13. you only need ID at registration, once you have your pass you are set!
  14. well thats me keeping this page open the rest of the morning at work!!!
  15. We got ours through, I have S111 and Liz has S112
  16. Sorry Chris for not replying to this. I totally missed your post Obviously I'm totally looking forward to seeing you both again! And after last years efforts I can't wait to see your costumes. I'm a bit stuck for ideas even at this late stage, but nothing large amounts of fake blood can't solve (I hope). Hey Just as long as people don't think you're edward cullen again this year you could come as simon tam, seems to be a firefly character we're missing from our line up. not sure when everyone is doing the firefly get up though, i assume it's saturday night? IF and thats a BIG IF haha I can fit in my Mal costume it will be on the saturday, if not i'll be a hastily put together Topher Brink!
  17. Welcome Angela, and dont be nervous! Last years Hallowhedon was my first ME convention and I was a little daunted by the thought of it, but my girlfriend and I very quickly made friends we then spent the rest of the weekend with! Everyone is there for the same reason at the end of the day so there always something in common to talk to people about!
  18. :) Looking forward to seeing your outfit! Not long to go now. Have you got much else to get? His bowie knife and thigh holster, both of which I can get on ebay, but I'm waiting to see if the local shops get them in stock for Hallowe'en. Londonderry has a massive Hallowe'en party each year, and the shops are usually pretty well stocked. How about your Kaylee costume? Got all your patches? Yep, got all the patches now. It's boots that I'm struggling to find at the moment! I agree with WILLOW99. A pair of DMs would fit the bill. I got the knife in town today. Found the thigh holster set too, and I'll get it next week. I just wanted to check that I couldn't get it cheaper on eBay. Just need to finish painting my gloves and that'll be me sorted. look forward to seeing this costume, come and find me at the con, i want to see it!!!!!
  19. I agree more or less, but I have to admit I don't fully understand the strategy. 1) by not announcing guests ME are allowing potential buyers to continue dreaming that a headlining guest will still come. Early on this works I expect, especially with die hard fans (who were coming anyway), but I believe sceptical, potential attendees are actually waiting for the announcements to happen at this late point before parting with their money - thus rendering this tactic rather useless now. Also there comes a point where it becomes too expensive for a potential attendee to book, even if a really special guest were to be announced. I'm flying from Sweden and I have already bought my plane ticket. If I were to book my flight today it would cost me 3 times as much. So even if SMG were announced I probably wouldn't be able to come, had I been waiting for announcements. Its not like with the hotel where you can cancel the same day. I have to commit early if I'm going to attend. 2) if smaller-part guests are what we are to expect then why not announce at least one of them now? I've read a number of times about how hard the negotiations are, but smaller guests are presumably cheaper and more available to book. The only reason I can think of for not announcing one now is that the nearer the event, the cheaper the guests become. I can't help feeling that an announcement now would lead to more silvers and golds being sold (even if it ware a smaller guest). My reasoning being that silvers and golds are breakeven money-wise at around 4 guests. A fifth guest would allow the economic, potential attendee to make a calculated decision based on fact. 3) there are no more guests ... nahhh I refuse to believe that! Bit of a waffle but hey it's Friday See you guys soon !!! All good points Numfar, at the end of the day I imagine organising these things is a bit of a black art and a headache to boot! Looking forward to seeing you again Numfar, glad to hear your coming
  20. I think anyone expecting big names at this stage will be disappointed because surely they are the ones who would have been sorted first and foremost to sell tickets, which they did with Alan, Jewel and ASH. As I said before, anymore guests added now will probably be smaller parts in the series, like Clem and Groo last year. I'm not complaining mind, as I've already said those two were incredibly good guests as they gave the best talk of the weekend in my opinion. I just think people shouldn't be holding out for big names at this point. That being said im always willing to be proved wrong
