I like that idea a lot. There's a lot of opportunity for great costumes there.
  2. I really wish I could see the issue! I'm the Captain Jack costumer there and I have an awful dread that it's a horrible picture.

Hopefully the decision on themes will be made soon for those of us who are putting together costumes. I NEED TIME!

I was just re-watching Series 2 last night and I had another suggestion. What about a Circus/Sideshow theme like From Out Of The Rain?
  5. Hey! Awesome! It'll be good to see you again. I was the Jack in your Something Borrowed cosplay group at Dragon*Con.

Lol! Exactly what I was thinking. People could make up their own aliens for costumes too. It'd be a nice, in your face TORCHWOOD kick off on say, Friday night.
  7. I'd really, really like to see some kind of costume contest. The Hub was actually the first convention I've ever attended where there wasn't one and it was MUCH bigger than some of the conventions I've been to. Even if it is just a matter of walking across the stage to display the costume, that would be good. Have crew judge, invite the guests to judge or judge by audience response. I'd be entirely up for volunteering to help with that in any way.

What about just a flat out Torchwood theme? Have people come as members of the team or aliens. Then mingle.
  9. I echo the complains regarding The Ibis. I stayed there this past convention and didn't enjoy the experience. The staff were very, very unhelpful regarding all requests; pillows, blankets, toilet paper, etc. They also tried to charge a larger price than was quoted with the reservation. And it wasn't major, but the fact that they went into our room and opened the window each day while we were out was very annoying. We would come back at the end of the night and find our room FREEZING. Yet they couldn't offer extra blankets. Unfortunately, it looks like I will have to book there again. I was really hoping to stay at the Park Inn instead. But I have a question to those who stayed at the Ibis last year. Did any of you find that there was a problem having three people in the room instead of the standard two? I'm a little worried about this since our party has three people in it and the rooms only say for two. It would be ridiculous to book a whole separate room. It's no problem if one of us sleeps on the floor, but I'm wondering if the staff gets cranky about that sort of thing?
  10. Sorry about that. I clicked "Forum" on the Hub 2 website and this is the one that it's linked to. I didn't even know there was another forum until now. But thank you everyone for your help! I will be checking those suggestions out.
  11. I just spoke with the Park Inn and they confirmed that they've already sold out for The Hub2. They recommended getting reservations at the Ibis instead, but I stayed at the Ibis for The Hub and was not happy at all with the experience. Are there any other hotels close that anyone would recommend?
  12. I'd really love to see the 1940s party happen again. It was the highlight of the convention for me and with Matt Rippy there, it'd be appropriate.
  13. Thanks to a hurricane of misfortune regarding my costumes, I've had to cancel bringing everything except my Captain Jack Harkness costume. I'm quite disappointed but I also came very close to not getting to come at all, so, I'm just thankful I'm attending. One costume will have to do!
  14. We already spoke in another thread but I'll just reiterate that I'd be happy to service (ahem) you if you need it. I'm always game for photos, reenactments or whatever. My pictures are here: http://community.livejournal.com/dw_cosplay/122099.html The only problem is that I lack the masculine jawline and I'm relatively short. But on the bright side, I'm coming from the US so I'll at least have the American accent. Plus I've done a lot of theatre and been costuming since 1998.
  15. Lol! I'm completely envious that you possess cheekbones. I'm sure I'll bump into your sharp edges at some point. I'll be the Jack who's American accent is completely legit.
