  1. I would be interested to see how they got round the copyright restrictions. Those tiresome screens of legalese you read when you first put a DVD in? They certainly prevent mass screening like that, and I'm pretty certain you would be on equally non-legal ice if you did it with copies you downloaded from the net or recorded from TVsignal. Granted, some organisers might think it worth the risk, but if you have an actor there who is appearing, he may take umbrage. By not getting screening rights (and often paying a fee), he is being done out of a small amount of "residuals" earning, As are all the other actors, and the writers. Of course, if they do get clearance, it's not a problem, but one does wonder if they all do... I know some organisers DO get permission to show episodes from the companies concerned. At events I ran previously I sought permission from Fox UK to show Buffy episodes and I later worked with Universal and Fox to gain permission to show episodes from official DVDs of Firefly. They were usually willing to allow this to help publicise their product as long as nobody was making a profit from showing the episodes. The other thing they took into account was that the fans were not at the event to watch the episodes they were shown to entertain people who had already paid for something else other than watching TV shows, such as meeting the actors. They were generally very helpful because they realised that conventions help them sell a LOT of their DVDs etc. In fact Fox UK supplied me with box sets to use for this purpose so I guess that illustrates their view when approached legally and correctly.
  2. Where is the information that there is an Eclipse 2 in November? Can't see it anywhere obvious on the site(s).
  3. I would certainly be prepared to attend an event over the Easter weekend, just depends on what and where it would be. With the right event and the right guests it could be a great time to hold it.
  4. Wll I have read every post in this thread and see pros and cons of each argument. I queued along with everyone else for the photos sessions and was about halfway through the queue maybe a little further back on each occasion. In each instance i was in and out of the photo booth within a few seconds after receiving a smile and a very quick word from the actors. In the joint shoot, Adrian was expressing his concern and suggested to Milo across the front of me that they should just leave so I wasn't too impressed and it may show on my face in my photo. But nevertheless I got a photo with them and that IS what I paid for I cannot complain about that. I didn't even go forward at the autos top meet Jack Coleman because I felt that I had met him at the photo session and a friend got his auto for me. As for Hayden I was delighted when they called up to 1050 towards the end of the day and received a gorgeous sweet smile from her and she thanked me for coming. These particular elements of the show WERE handled well. It is almost impossible to organise something as popular as the Heroes signing and photo sessions and please everyone. I don't work for Showmasters and I am not making excuses or trying to suck up to them. I don't believe anyone else could have arranged a better method of trying to please the maximum number of fans possible during a single day. Showmasters is a business, but they are ALSO fans and understand the desire of the fans for a positive experience. They also understand the disappointment some people may feel after losing out in one way or another. I did enjoy my day, my feet and my back suffered badly from the queing and seating would have been so helpful but I met the stars, got a picture and an autiograph from the people I wanted. Thank you Showmasters and a special thank you to the crew who staffed the Heeroes elements of the show.
  5. Jocks and cheerleaders it has to be!!!
  6. This is Doctor Who at its best. Paul Cornell manages to deliver the goods yet again, nearly on a par with "Father's Day" its a toss up between him and Steven Moffatt as to who writes the best Who for me! Loved the emotional investment in this episode. Hopefully the second part will shine brighty unlike some of the other episodes to date. Andy
  7. How hard would it be for DT to say "No. I am not leaving during season 4."? He just refuses to answer the question. Makes me think he COULD be leaving cos we all know the Beeb has fibbed in the past about their stars leaving. Plus I am wondering if Timelords can be cloned from severed hands thus allowing a fresh series of regenerations... Andy
  8. EXCELLENT choice of guest! If possible more Heroes guests will be brought over too and no doubt more widely recognised here in the UK by the time of LFACC!
  9. As ever I would support a Firefly reunion but love any Whedonverse guests. Would also LOVE to meet some guests from The Outsiders - the original and definitive Brat Pack movie. Swayze, Dillon, Lowe, Howell, Macchio, Cruise, Lane, Estevez etc etc. Obviously would be happy just to meet some of them... a few may just be out of SMs price brackets.
  10. Useless piece of trivia, he also played a charfacter called Ianto Jones in Russell T Davies' ITV comedy show Mine All Mine! Might have to ask him about that fact. Andy
  11. Am 100% in agreement with those who are singing this show's praises. Who knew that a little pudgy Japanese guy would prove to be such a hit across the board? I think everyone can identify with the excitement about the waffles. The flying was cool too but it was Hiro's excitement about the waffles for me everytime! "Waffles! Woo Hoo!" Andy

    Torchwood

I just watched Russell T Davies's comedy show Mine All Mine (with Griff Rhys Jones) on DVD and noticed a character called Ianto Jones played by the same actor that is appearing in Torchwood as Ianto Jones - Gareth David-Lloyd. Could there be a Doctor Who/Torchwood/Mine All Mine crossover???? However, the appearance on Mine All Mine is not listed in his IMdB credits. I checked the credits on the DVD though and he is listed as "Yanto" Jones but that was probably a typo as the Welsh spelling would generally be with an "I". I posted this elsewhere too but I thought it merited mentioning it here too! Andy
  13. There is a video on her official website somewhere of her last appearance for Showmasters showing Summer meeting her fans at C8. Check it out and see who's featured meeting her...
  14. Just wanted to say aye! These guests would be great to meet but you could do a whole Kudos Productions thing too and have some of the cast of Spooks or Hustle along too!
  15. Any guests from The Outsiders especially Diane Lane!
  16. This was a great help and I hope to see this system again. Theo nly issue was that I had to remind the crew member to put "CC" in the relevant box because they forgot to do so. Thanks to the staff member who told me to watch out for that!
  17. And the glass fish, don't forget the evil glass fish! They have a strangely hypnotic effect on punters who just stand and stare at them...
  18. I have been talking to the producers of Summer's new movie "Mammoth" in the US and they inform me that at present there are no plans to show it in the UK. However, they would be more than happy to see a channel such as the Sci Fi Channel pick it up over here. As a result I called the Sci Fi Channel and asked how fans could register sufficient interest so that their acquisitions department may be persuaded to buy the movie to air in the UK. They suggested that fans should express their interest through the feedback page on the website for the UK Sci Fi Channel at http://www.uk.scifi.com/feedback.asp So it=f you want to see this movie on a UK screen during 2006 then you need to tell them! So PLEASE send your interest to them so that they realise that there is a groundswell of opinion among Summer's UK fans and they are many! Even if you don't live in the UK you can still help us to promote Summer by sending them a request anyway! Andy
  19. There is an early version of the trailer for Summer's new movie "Mammoth" online now. To view it visit Summer official site http://www.summerglau.co.uk and follow the instructions... Andy
  20. The official website http://www.summerglau.co.uk has a new and exclusive video up online showing Summer Glau meeting her fans at Collectormania 8 recently. Were you there? Did you meet Summer? If so, check out the video you could be on there! You can also check out the lurkers in orange shirts and see if you know them! Hee hee! If not check out the video anyway to see how good Summer looked meeting her fans at this event. Thanks to Showmasters for allowing filming access at this event for this purpose. Andy
  21. Is it the one which she recently shooted in Romania ? 874055[/snapback] This is the film she recenly shot in Romania but I don't yet have any details about release dates etc as Summer only finished filming just before she started he own "mammoth" publicity tour for Serenity. I don't even know if ALL principal filming has ended yet. Andy
  22. Summer has recently wrapped filming on a sci fi comedy movie called Mammoth in which she assures me she does NOT play a crazy person! Andy

    JCB

I read on James Marsters' website that she will no longer represent him and that he will only be represented by his manager Steve now so I guess she won't be hanging around as James signs at any future appearances unless she is representing other guets at an SM event
  24. Just to confirm UIP ARE still promoting Serenity. They ARE still planning the preview tour for August and they are sponsoring the fan table at another event in August. I received confirmation of these facts at the very end of last week from my contact at UIP with whom I have been working since November to promote the movie.
