1. Nice one Mick.....but Mr Sprinkles?????? Ryland
2. I also got 6 wrong and was well pleased to learn that despite that I'd still got a prize. One of the signatures I got wrong was of Mel Gibson. Ironic as of all the autographs on display, his was the only one that I actually have in my collection (and know to be genuine). Thought it was a great idea to have these guys at the event. Forgery/Secretrial is a major problem in this hobby and I found it very intereting to talk to them and obtain their advice, not least as they were able to confirm that a Clint Eastwood item I'd bought some time ago (supported by a full COA of course) was in fact a Secretarial despite the seller assuring me both before and after the sale that it had been obtained 'in-person'. Have since notified the seller of their comments and have received a full refund as a result. I certainly hope that they are invited back in March as we cannot have enough of their expertise and experience.
3. Not to mention the horror fans as he is the 2nd greatest horror star the genre has ever produced (Vincent of course ranks first ) The last signing show that Christopher Lee did (dont ask for con organisers details as It is not permitted ) the autograph charge was £30 per item, I think that's accurate although may have been £35. 894733 Must admit that the last one of which I was aware was probably about a year ago, limited to a few hundred collectors and came at a price of around £60 per item but I could be wrong. Also, although a must for horror fans, I understand that he no longer signs anything associated with Dracula.
4. Totally agree. He would appeal to the Bond Fans as well as the LOTR followers. What a superb guest...although I guess we could expect charges of £50+ as a minimum. Also any chance of Roger Moore signing for UNICEF and perhaps a Sharpe Reunion which would have to include Sean Bean....I imagine that he would appeal to most if not all attendees. At the end of the day, the person I would most like to see is Sir Norman Wisdom...a real icon of British comedy. What are the chances Dave?
5. I travelled across from Cardiff and found it much quicker and easier than the previous trips to Coventry - Straight down the M4 and 5 minutes off the motorway into the car park. That said, I must admit to preferring the Coventry venue but I understand that the problems associated with this and will say no more on the matter. My only concern with the Radisson was that the event seemed to be very spread out and I feel I missed a great deal by not having one of the maps which I think Dave indicated would be available on the day. The event itself...who can complain about Autographica. For me it always has been the must-do event of the year. Where else are you going to get Ursula Andress and Buzz Aldrin at the same time. For people of this calibre I would expect to queue and, quite frankly, was surprised that the queues were not longer. Top class event. Superb celebrities. Give me a map detailing who's where come the March 2006 event and I'll be more than happy. The only problem I foresee is how you possibly build on this year's event? Many thanks again.
6. In addition to all the above, my additional thanks to all the crew at the event. Everybody made for a really special day on the Saturday I attended. My particular thanks to the young guy on the door for Ursula Andress and especially to the young lady who was doing such a fantastic job in taking photos with Buzz Aldrin. Having a posed photo and also the surprise additional shot of him signing my photograph was an absolutely superb idea and I hope she has received due recognition from the organisers. Unfortunately, I don't know her name but she was there at around 2:30/3:00(ish) on the Saturday afternoon. Overall an absolutely superb event and congratulations to all who were involved in the organisation and running of it.
7. this is true - i wouldn't mind getting buzz's auto but im a student so i have to save up in advance to come to these events and get autos anyway - so i just couldn't afford £90 on one person. as for time spent with the guest- from what i understand - autographica is a much more laid back event and gives you the chance to relax with the guests and have a nice chat with them rather than rushing round to get autos like you would normally do at cm etc etc/ i think skylover was messing around when he suggested he charged for each word by the way 886981 Unfortunately not. Spoke to Dave last week who confirmed that there would probably be an additional charge for anything more than the basic signature. I understand that photographs will be free though
8. Superb announcement. Any chance of this being a taster for a Sharpe Reunion at a future Autographica. Sean Bean would keep all the LOTR fans happy as well. The weekend get better and better. Many thanks for all the effort which has obviously been put into arranging this event.
9. Apparently not. Spoke to Dave on Sunday who indicated that Buzz Aldrin likes to spend time talking to the people who come to see him.
10. I come from a generation that precedes men going where no men had gone before and guys jumping through Stargates, either to other worlds, Atlantis or anywhere else. Unfortunately, people today tend to take for granted the huge achievement which was represented by the Apollo 11 mission and all those which followed.. As a result of the Shuttle missions etc, space travel today has become commonplace and as such, rarely justifies any media/press time unless there are problems. I well remember the excitement of actually being able to witness a man taking his first step on the moon and for that reason, the opportunity to meet Buzz Aldrin is one which cannot be missed regardless of price. I can't believe that people can get so worked up about Sci Fi film and TV heroes and yet turn their back on a real hero like this guy. I'm starting to sound like my father so I think it's time I got down off my soapbox but needless to say I will be there for Buzz.
11. Attended a 'separate' (non SM) event earlier this year involving virtually all the ST:Enterprise cast. In the cast talk, there was a suggestion of maybe another film in 3-4 years which would then spark off a new series if successful enough. Personally, I still can't understand why ST: Enterprise was cancelled. The third and fourth series were particularly good and the concept of 'serial style' episodes really worked. The only series I really could not get into was Deep Space Nine so was not sorry to see that one end. Still, fingers crossed for more Star Trek in the future in whatever shape or form.
12. Not usually one for Autographica's space guests but Buzz Aldrin must be the exception. Together with Neil Armstrong he really went where no man had gone before and as such is a true hero of exploration.
13. What a fantastic opportunity this would provide and would surely get a huge response from the public. Why stop at Neil Armstrong...are there any chances of luring 'the third man from the Appollo Xl mission - astronaut Mike Collins as well. I too would be prepared to pay a sizeable chunk of hard-earned for such a once in a lifetime opportunity. Come on Dave...get on the phone....any chance?
14. Along with Jeri Ryan, both are needed to complete my cast-shot so would be more than welcome. Other great guests from Voyager would also be a return visit for Ehtan Phillips and Robert Picardo, both of whom were tremendous.
15. What about: David Duchovny Paul McGillion - Stargate Atlantis Jeri Ryan Robert Duncan McNeil Scott Bakula Sir Ian McKellan Robert Vaughan/David McCallum Sir Norman Wisdom George Best Triple H Shawn Michaels Kurt Angle
16. I must have been lucky. My wife and I saw and briefly chatted to Mr Shatner on Friday afternoon and I also got a handshake. True, we found him rushed but not at all rude or unfriendly (unlike the extremely unpleasant lady (Julia????) who was overseeing or should I say..controlling...the signing). I really cannot believe people on this forum. The complaints and ungracious comments hugely outweigh the positive remarks. I left home before 6:00am to make sure I was there in time for a VT, I did a round trip of over 600 miles and got home some time after 9:00pm and freely admit that based on my experience of the day I would most certainly do it all over again. Collectormania has free entry and £25 for a William Shatner in-person signature is a gift....check out the dealers and E-Bay for £40+ signatures with no guarantee that they are the real thing. It is true that William Shatner was rushed, not least because of the huge number of people were there for his autograph. After all, these are SIGNING events and anything more than that should be considered a bonus. It was unfortunate that no photographs were allowed but again this would undoubtedly have delayed the process and, at the end of the day, he is not the only one to impose a no photograph rule. The answer is straightforward...these events are organised for our benefit and must involve a huge amount of work. If you don't like what you get and are then intent on spending the rest of the year whining and whinging about it then save your money and stay away. I've been to most of the SM events over the last few years and have found that the good experiences far outnumber the bad...(and William Shatner for me was definitely a good experience). Unfortunately, the forum seems to provide an opportunity for those people who want to moan. If the queues are too long - people complain...if the celebrities take too long talking to people in front - people complain...if the A-Listers don't come - people complain... if they sign quickly to allow the majority of people to see them then again, people complain. The idiot who started shouting and swearing (they do say bad language is a sign of a limited vocabluary and I think his spelling confirms that) must have been an absolute nightmare for everybody present (staff and public alike) and I'm delighted that I missed him. I'm sure SM will be losing a great deal of sleep over his threat not to come to any more of their events. SM - Thanks for another good event and certainly looking forward to Autographica at the end of the month.
17. Can't agree entirely with some of the comments made above. I had a ticket in the early 300s and was pleasantly surprised to get to meet William Shatner so early. Although the throughput was overly rushed and the lady overseeing proceedings was a complete nightmare, I still had time for a handshake and a quick word with the guy as did my wife. With so many wanting to see him I am not surprised that photographs were not allowed but ultimately I got what I wanted and went home happy. At the end of the day, I understand that his flight was delayed and on arrival he came straight to the show. Things were perhaps rushed to get everybody with tickets through in the limited time left. If he had spent more time chatting then quite clearly, a lot of people would have left with nothing. Why are people so quick to complain about anything and everything? Must also say that Karen Allen and Robert Englund were absoultely fantastic guests. For me its a big thans to SM....I really enjoyed the day and am now looking forward to Autographica at the end of October more than ever.
18. Superb guest and much needed for my Castshot...how about Paul McGillion to finish it off?????
19. Best gust ever at Autographica...does this mean the person is a bigger name than Sir John Mills????
20. who's left? Dame Judi Dench, Dame Diana Rigg, Topol, John Cleese, Jane Seymour...wasn't Rowan Atkinson also in one of the Roger Moore films??????
21. Autographica was the first event I ever attended and since then I have never been disappointed by the calibre of the guests involved Sir John Mills for example) or their readiness to spend time talking and posing for photographs. Whilst the venue has changed, I sincerely hope that there will no change to the ambience which, until now, has set this event apart from many others - and I mean no disrespect to Collectormania or LFACC in saying that. For me the opportunity to meet Buzz Aldrin will be a once in a lifetime event. Unlike many others (I suspect), I am old enough to remember watching the first Moon Landing and the excitement it created. The opportunity to meet a member of that crew makes it well worth the trip. Dave/SM:- What chance of Neil Armstrong at some future event?
22. I too would be more than happy to pay up to £100 for this chance in a lifetime opportunity to meet a major piece of living history. However, for that amount of money I would very much hope to have the chance of a posed photograph with him and would also request tht we are given an online preview of the 10" x 8" photographs that are going to be available for signing at the event. Please Dave...what are the chances?
23. Stargate Atlantis Cast please....they were superb in LFCC2. Big push for Torri Higginson and Paul McGillion in particular as they missed the previous event.
24. First time in London...previous shows have been in Coventry. Looking forward to new model...but looking forward to the 6:00pm announcement more. Has his clock stopped....an someone pop round and give him a nusge.
