Thank you everyone for the good wishes. One complaint though SM the age thingy must be adding up wrong it seems to add a couple of years.

Hi there the most important thing is to keep it out of direct sunlight as you will lose the signature very quickly. It may be an idea to go into an art shop and ask is there is a product that will stop ink fading from material, as there is a fixative you can use on paper but I am not sure on material. An important thing to do though, get a similar article and write on it and try on the test piece before trying anything on the real one. Failing that go to a framers and have the piece framed behind museum or similar glass that will work but is expensive.

Nail varnish remover will only take the signature off, and besides you won't lend anyone yours. What I would try other than incasing in another sleeve. Is to get a spare cover and put some lines or write on the cover with different pens then go to the art shop and buy a can of artists fixative. Try it on the trial cover to see if it works. It works on photos and artwork. Other than that it need to go in a frame so it cant be touched.
