  1. ok one last try please someone comment even a negative one i just think this might be a bit more interesting than how cute sexy etc the stars are it would be much better for them to talk to each other in breaks etc its about the way they act not the way they exist as normal people. (To be fair i couldnt care less how nice elijah wood is when signing an autograph i want to know what insight he has in the character of frodo.)
  2. ian holm two for one played both bilbo and frodo plus some of the others from the audio and old film would be good.
  3. Milton Keynes is easy to get to but had they charged entry I think I would have been put off attending ... ferelmoggy is right here no entry fee the way to go thats why the stalls need to pay they will cover the costs they make a fortune at these things.
  4. have you considered full nudity that would be authentic.
  5. also true a sports hall would be ok to or a civic or community centre for that matter. again the stalls would problably cover the costs.
  6. just thought id post this again here as many people dont seem to go down to the lower parts of the forum. I am not really interested in the people themselves but i am interested in the take on the characters they have. so what i propose is inviting the actors from different versions of a film lotr springs to the mind. if you could get for example frodo from the peter jackson films (elijah), the old animated bakshi frodo (christopher gaurd) and maybe from the bbc audio version (ian holm actually). or similiar with the gimli or legolas characters or whatever. it might allow the guests something interesting to chat about profesionally and would be interesting to hear each ones views on the characters. maybe a time out could be taken for a talk/debate about the given characters like the interview thingies they did at c6. what you reckon. i might even que for something like that.
  7. zombie cant go wrong its comfortaable eand easyish to do with some old cloths and a bit of lemon curd, jam and latex (grey for long dead whit for new).
  8. er that was me it was my first anything even remotly like this and as im not really interested in actors just as people didnt really want to take up places in the ques so wandered around the stalls a bit then got bored. so i thought well might as well get made up so hey presto a little latex fake blood and the next mirrored window frame and i was zombied. when vig got the rabbit i was playing with it and a kid had this really funny reaction so it became part of the character. ill try and get something proper together for next time. if you wanna see me and other wierd people in costume got to www.draken.co.uk (i am teriyakiki kobold) or www.curiouspastimes.co.uk and follow the various links theres thousands oh and what do you mean jagged blood stained teeth they were my real teeth addmittedly with blood
  9. turriema really doesnt like whats his face i was standing near by when he walked past she had to be vertually restrained by force. (i would put a smiley here but cant work them out).

  11. i see i am not convincing people still keep in mind glastonbury is a farmers field they do get muddy whole different ball game to a showground and as i said a manor house could even have you on tarmac, cobblestones or similair they usually have coach houses etc and outbuildings so might even be undercover collectomania isnt really that big. anyway in spite of the field idea not being popular what about the rest? 1 wandering costume competition. 2 a camp site specially for collectomania people.
  12. i figured some of you city slickers would be scared of mud funnily enough though it is quite possible to be in a field and not get muddy hence the suggestion for roll up walkways.they would be fine in all but the worst conditions. it may be possible to find a site such as tatton park or other manorial estate where you could use the hall/manor as the guest bit how cool would that sound to guests come meet youre fans in a manor house the traders would be in marquees nearby everyone wins its a hell of lot more glam than a shopping mall in milton keynes (i mean milton keynes find a place less glamourous.). seriously the rhs and all these agricultrual horticultural shows not to mention boot sales and special intertest shows easily outsell these events. if not a field sometimes car parks can be got with hard standing all round. tatton could problably find enough hard standing in its coachyard for all the stalls nice posh buildings for guests etc for collectomania 6 twice over. glad you like the wander round system for the fancy dress. also can you imagine how cool the party would be not to mention camping with all youre mates etc a beer tent is easy to organise plus you could take youre own stuff. even if not fo the main event a temporary camp site would be well worth thinking about.
  13. id try it again now i know that it was the first one hopefully the next will be better.
  14. rightyo as a completly new person to events of this type but having to organise large (not this big but several hundred potentially) and being involved in very large (some like the rhs much bigger than this) events heres a few suggestions to chew on. 1/ use a field for the event as they are cheaper and more spacious and less public (people drive past and stop if interested so you still get passing trade). (put up roadways and floored marquees for the guests and stalls invite stall holders to pay for premier plots (other events certainly make money just look at car boot sales and they pay bugger all for a plot). you could make extra money by cordening an area for camping and getting an exclusion certificate then charging for the camping (actually this could be done anyway). 2/ wandering fancy dress competition. us costumed people could be easily seen wandering round give each an id photo attached to a piece of paper, place them on a wall or notice board and then allow people to sign there name on the one they think should win the one with the most names gets presented with first prize at a ceremony along with the other three. just a humble opinion of a complete newbie feel free to comment i wont be offended.
  15. hmm just found these boards so dont really want to winge but yeah it was pretty badly organised. never having been to a convention or whatever the proper word is for this event before i would say it was far more fun being dressed up it was a talking point to meet people i am not really interested in famous people (there just people to me) but my normal hobby is lrp (go look at www.draken.co.uk if you are wondering) so i like looking for snacky bits for costumes and once i realised people were in costume i had to do one mine was the zombie with the killer rabbit. it was a bit on the spot (i did it in the reflective window of next with latex and fake blood from one of the stores and a pair of nail scissors) but i felt a lot more part of everything with it. so i would say to you guys who made the real efforts keep it up you are appreciated and i think it adds to the experience dont get a little competition get you down. ps ill try to get something better together for the next one.
