there was a girl dressed as link from Zelda (actually there were a couple but the one im talking about had dark hair) i think it was Zelda anyway. she was quite lovely indeed but she was with a couple of other cosplaying friends and i was far too shy to say hello. anyway if you happen to read this, hello.

im sure im not the only one who saw someone who i wanted to chat to but couldn't for whatever reason so i thought i would start a thread for it. and hey if even 2 people connect via this then it was worth it. my own one was the petite girl in the blue original series starfleet outfit with the short dark hair and vulcan ears, i was near her inthe line for the shatner talk and saw her a few times after, really wanted to say hi but hey, im shy. so if you're reading this, hi.

latest Guest Announcement GREG RUCKA Comic Creator
petrorabbit replied to showmasters's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2010
I do not charge for signatures. I never have, and I do not plan on starting at the show this summer. As for limit - I'll sign just about anything I've written, no matter how great the stack of books; all I ask is that, if there's a line and you have 100 books, you let me work in batches, so other people with smaller stacks can have their books signed, as well. Very much looking forward to attending the show! Mr Rucka you are a modern day legend thank you for coming all this way, i never get to meet any creators so you will be my first. -
its just tha on the list it says 15 pounds for a photo. thats what has confused me.

35 pounds to meet god is a bargin. some people dedicate their entire lives to meet god to no avail. -
im really glad greg rucka is going is he having a proper photoshoot for 15, or can we get one with him at his table for free. its just unusual to see a comic related guest charge for photos.

Great to hear, How about comic writers like Simon Furman or Geoff Johns?
-
Always makes me laugh how the male stars put their arms around the girls in the photoshoots and not the guys.

I thought it would be cool to hear what cool moments people had around the con apart from meeting the guests. exp with cool stalls, people in costumes, funny little moments etc. I saw Jake Loydd playing sonic at the gamezone after coming out of his photoshoot, i thought that was pretty cool. Also the 3 ladies who were walking around as Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp were great (especially the girl who was Starscream) i wanted to tell them how cool they looked but was too shy

He was really chatty with the couple of people ahead of me but when i went to shake his hand he refused and was a little off with me. I went away feeling kinda sad by it. Everything else about the show was wonderful though and i look foward to more events. -

Im a newbie to getting things from comic artists, So if i want him to sign say, a comic will that cost me or do i just have to pay for a sketch? -
I don't recall saying showmasters were obliged to put on shows all over the UK. You need to calm down David B. Do you even go to any cons or are you one of those people who just spend all day posting your comments never actually going to any of them. And sorry Psychosis but im not rich enough to afford travel, accommodation etc to go somewhere futher away. Saving up for the sigs is hard enough.

All i meant was if you are going to do cons and agree to appear on a certain date, you should be obliged to appear. Its breaking a promise and surely a contract to cancel. As i said before an actor has no job without an audience. Shunning your fans for a "better" job is not sending out the right message. Not all actors should do cons, but the ones who do should consider the responsibility that comes with it. knowing people will travel far to see them.
-
I have a great dislike for any guests who agree to appear at a con and then cancel for something else. Usualy its an acting gig. We are the fans, the audience. without us, they would have no job. I totally understand why certain actors never do cons, but the ones who do have a responsibility to appear when they agree to. There is a large amount planning that many of us go to to attend these cons on the basis of a single name. Acting may be their first job, but once you agree to do something, you should do it. If something else, barring, comes up you should refuse because you have prior arrangements. Its simple politeness.
-
Im afraid i do not agree David B. that may be how it is, but it is not how it should be. It should be showmasters job to "sell" the event to stall holders, convince them it will be worth their while. For me the stalls are as important a selling point as the actors. As for notice to guests, surely if you book an actor say 1 year before an event (as is likely now for mcr) then you have more chance of them being availiable than if you were to try and book them with only a few weeks notice. its simple logic really. if they did this they would have "bigger guests" they could then use them as pulling power to get more guests and stall holders.
-
I am quite upset by this, i live in Manchester and can not make any others. We have been messed around enough already, i hope this is the last time. One big problem i have is why they have so much unused space. there is so much room fore more stalls, and a wider range of stalls. (more comic stalls would be nice). surely there are enough sellers to fill out the space. the 1st mcr con was the only one to truly utilise the space. and the amount of stalls was fantastic. it also had the best guests. surely with this much notice they can book some great people. The shatner would be a dream.

I prefer the open cons where you get something for everyone. although if you could get enough people from a single show i would be interested in Battlestar Galactica (2003) Smallville Star Trek Boston Legal
